Maine Coons are Coming

This page was started 6 years ago when two Maine C**n sisters came to stay. They are living proof that all of the nice things said about Maine C***s is true.

It was supposed to be a picnic lunch for Lily but a lady blackbird crashed the party. Great technique - throw the food out of Lily's bowl while her back is turned. When it is further away from Lily it can be eaten with greater confidence (until May arrives as a reinforcement).

Lily and May are totally focussed (the pigeon is paying attention as well).

When you have been sunbathing in the garden it is important to rehydrate. Lily has her own way of using the Drinkwell Fountain - messy (wet fur & wet floor) but refreshing. May laps delicately from the water trickling down

Lie-In for cats. I'm not sure how or why Lily got behind May. They usually chose different rooms (Lily snores and May cries out as she dreams).

Afternoon patrol complete and a light snack enjoyed. So it is time to spruce themselves up. An evening snooze will soon follow.

Just in case the visiting pigeon hasn't noticed Lily a fine Maine C**n tail being swished should get the message across.

Lily has been to see the vet this afternoon to get her nails clipped, her fur de-matted and a bit of a trim. I sneaked a photo when the nurse went to get reinforcements. Lily feels much nicer to stroke and, hopefully, will feel more comfortable now that the weather is getting warmer.

New jeans ordered on the internet seem to have been given May's seal of approval. Just as well, I don't suppose I could send them back now.

A brave or foolish pigeon flew into the conservatory this afternoon. The windows were opened to no avail and I eventually caught hold of it by the legs and took it outside. Lily and May seem rather disappointed and have examined everywhere it had been. I wouldn't want a ringside seat for the outcome they had in mind.

It's cleaning time so Lily is sunbathing in the conservatory. May will join her as soon as the sound of the vacuum gets too close.

A slightly different perspective showing what happens when May wants to go out into the garden but finds the door closed (I'm quite practiced at replacing this patch of wallpaper. That happens when you do it every 3 or 4 months).

It's April and there is snow on the ground outside but Lily has found a nice warm spot to curl up for her post-breakfast snooze.

May is having a little sulk because I have just evicted this year's first bumble bee from the conservatory and spoiled her hunting practice (would she remember the sting in their tail?). Lily can be seen in the background catching a few rays.

Parallel cats. Chicken flavour on the right, seafood mix on the left. Lily and May enjoyed a quick snack on the handover as Lily came in from the cold misty garden as May prepared to take her place on pigeon patrol.
