Everyone meet Crispin♥️🐱

Crispin has won our braveheart for this month for being the bravest little boy over the past few months.
The owners picked Crispin up, excited to bring him into the family and introduce him to their cat Remi, when they were shocked to see how poorly, underweight and frail he looked, they rushed him into us as soon as they could.
Crispin was weak, very very tiny , dehydrated, and completely lifeless. He stayed in hospital with us on and off for a couple of weeks, receiving intensive nursing treatment, fluid therapy, medications and a whole lot of TLC
Crispin didn’t know how lucky he was to have landed on his feet with parents who would never give up on him.
It was hard to say whether this little guy would make it, but with dedication from both the team, and his wonderful parents who refused to give up on this little guy, Crispin has made a miraculous recovery, and can now live life as a normal kitten with his big sister Remi.
We believe that had it not been for the love, support and care given by his parents, he may not be the happy go lucky boy he is today.

Look at those progress pics 😍

Crispin you have all stolen our hearts and we are so happy to see you thriving

As we get closer to Christmas day and the best part, Christmas dinner, there are a few foods as owners we should be aware of to prevent pancreatitis, or other nasty illnesses. Pancreatitis occurs when the pancreas becomes inflamed. It happens when the digestive enzymes attack the pancreas.

Pancreatitis can sky rocket this time of year due to more fatty foods, table scraps, stealing left overs and the odd family member 'sharing'.

The biggest trigger for pancreatitis is the fat in the foods. Turns out, this time of year chocolate isn't the only dangerous food. Turkey skin, gravy, lamb fat, sausages, butter and roast drippings, just to name a few big triggers of pancreatitis.

Some signs to look out for
- vomiting
- Hunched posture
- bloated belly
- Diarrhoea
- refusing food
- Shaking and/or crying when touched
If any of the above symptoms occur, you must contact your local vet immediately.

Even if it is 'just a little bite', a flare up can happen.

Some safe alternatives that can be given in moderation include:
- Carrot slices
- Plain boiled chicken
- Small piece of apple (not the core)
- Green beans
But afterall, they don't need a feast, they'd just like the company.

If you have any concerns over the christmas break, Medivet Gravesend are closed on the 25th and 26th, so if you need any veterinary assistance, you can either call our number to be automatically diverted to Medivet Dartford, our out of hours branch, or contact them directly on 01322897977.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, with love, the Medivet Gravesend Team! x 🎄

🐕🐾Good evening to our wonderful clients, we we wanted to share the importance on making our pets visible while going for walks. As we all know, the days are getting shorter and our roads are full with traffic, so while taking our furry friends out for a walk, it is important to make our pets visible usually with something reflective. We recommend the owners to wear something reflective too! It will also ensure that if in a dark park, you can still see your furbaby.
There are a number of products that can make drivers and riders aware your pet is there! Some may include reflective jackets/vests, reflective harnesses or flashing tags, just to name a few✨️

Be safe everyone! 🐾🐕
