Good morning
Sadly we have had a young, black & white, female cat, not microchipped, brought into us this morning by a member of the local community who found her on Windmill Street. (Unfortunately she had already died from her injuries.)
Please contact us at the clinic if you are missing a cat of similar description.
Thank you.

This small Gravesend bunny and guinea pig rescue helped us massively today when we ended up with not just 1 stray but 4 guinea pigs. Fortunately all well minus a few mites so treatment was provided. Us as vets heavily rely on small local rescues. As you can imagine we don’t have the space to hold them and for prey animals a vet practice is not the most comfortable of places.

If anyone could share the post, offer homes or donate I’m sure they would really appreciate it.

All of us at Medivet gravesend would love to share the story of our new favourite stray Maurice🫢🏻
Maurice was bought in generously by a member of the public after they had noticed he had a severe wound on the side of his neck.
Maurice was sedated by our vet Nigel who was able to clip up and clean the wound , he also had some teeth removed as these were damaged by whatever accident he had gone through, he was castrated at the same time too!
The wonderful people at the RSPCA made this possible and funded Maurice’s treatment
We work very closely with charities and the likes of the RSPCA in order for us to treat all the fur babies that aren’t so fortunate enough to have a loving family.
Maurice has been with us for 2 weeks and has been taken now by the RSPCA to help find him his forever home.
After weeks of love , lots of food, a warm bed , antibiotics and a good clean up, Maurice is looking and feeling better than ever and we are all so sad to see him go , he is the sweetest and most affectionate little boy πŸ₯ΊπŸ«ΆπŸ»
Good luck in your new home Maurice 🩡

Please find attached a donation page for our wonderful nurse Kim , who is doing a 150mile walk to raise money for the RSPCAπŸ₯°
All donations would be greatly appreciated
GO KIM, you have your Gravesend family behind you 🫢🏻

Do you know how to spot blue-green algae?

Exposure to blue-green algae can cause long-term health problems in pets and can even be fatal. By drinking from or swimming in contaminated water, pets are at a high risk of becoming seriously ill.

Contact your vet immediately if you think your pet is at risk of blue-green algae poisoning. For more information of what to look out for and how to protect your pet, read our advice article here: https://bit.ly/3LqTmA4

Over the summer, our vets see a lot of dogs who have issues because of grass seeds. It is important to contact your vet immediately if you suspect your dog has an injury caused by a grass seed.

If walking your dog in long grass or woodland areas, we recommend checking your dog over and brushing away any grass seeds after the walk is done. Pay particular attention to paws, ears, eyes, and armpits.

To learn more about grass seeds, and our four simple steps for dealing with them, read our helpful advice article here: https://bit.ly/3zAdaOP

Do you have questions about neutering your cat? It's something we strongly advise as it has many benefits for them and helps to tackle the number of stray cats in the UK.

Female cats will benefit from reduced risk of unwanted pregnancy, certain health conditions and even certain types of cancer. For male cats, neutering reduces their urge to fight other males, lessening the chance of certain diseases, and it also means they are less likely to mark their territory around your home.

Morning update we have been given the ok to remain open but you will notice we have scaffolding outside. Our roof was made safe and secure last night. The scaffolding will remain up for the time being whilst further necessary repairs are carried out. Please do bear in mind that the section in of the road is still blocked off so you will need to access the car park via windmill street, you can still exit via parrock street.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding yesterday.
