Rescue is rescue—no matter the species 🐾
While we are primarily a cat charity, when an animal needs urgent help and we can step in, we do. This is the story of Cassie, a 5 year old dog with a gentle soul and a spark waiting to shine ✨
Cassie found herself in a crisis, she needed out of her home immediately. Her family had arranged an onward rescue placement, but the situation was too urgent to wait.
When we received the call, we didn’t hesitate. We knew just the right foster family who could offer her a safe, temporary haven until the rescue could take over.
She arrived anxious and shut down, pacing all night, confused and scared, she even ruined the kitchen blind which was once straight, is now a wonky reminder of Cass’s paws were here 🐾
Animals don’t understand sudden change they just feel the loss. And Cassie felt it deeply 💔
But within days, her spirit began to return. Her dull eyes lit up. Her tail, once still, began to wag. Slowly, she trusted again 🐕
We needed to assess her with other dogs before she could move to the next foster home. True to her character, Cassie was all bark and no bite, the test went beautifully 😍
Today, she continues her journey to her new rescue placement, where she’ll be spayed and begin the search for her forever home 💕
Cassie’s story is one of teamwork.
• Her family fought to get her safe
• The foster family opened their doors on a moment’s notice to take her in
• A dog groomer came to meet her to see how she was with strangers
• Our vet squeezed her in for an urgent health check the same day we called on them for help
• A trusted friend/dog trainer/behaviourist offered expert advice to support her dog-to-dog introductions
• Finally, the rescue stepping up to take her in will carry her across the finish line
This is what rescue looks like ❤️
It’s not just one person. It’s not just one organization. It’s a network of hearts working as one.
