Claudia arrived into RSPCA care after she was found by a member of public abandoned in a box.

Claudia was found with wounds all over her back and she has a cataract in her left eye.

After some TLC, Claudia's wounds are slowly healing and we are hopeful that her hair will slowly grow back over time.

Claudia is a shy, older girl looking for her retirement home where she can live out her days with a guinea pig loving owner. She will thrive in a home where her adopter is willing to help Claudia build trust and gain some confidence.

Help us find Claudia her forever home:

Clarice🐾

This little chap has a curious and intelligent character – he loves exploring his enclosure, hunting for his daily treats and burning off some energy on his exercise wheel. Clarice is a little under socialised, he will often come out of his den to investigate when he has human company, but being nocturnal, mostly enjoys naps throughout the day, to prepare him for all the activity at night. Clarice is seeking an understanding hamster loving home, where he can continue building positive associations when being handled.

Despite her puppy looks, Daisy is around 3 years old. We were told she was a lab x whippet on arrival, but she is on the smaller size, ~14kg so she may be crossed with other breeds.

Daisy was very worried by handling on arrival, showing lots of appeasement behaviours. She was being treated for ringworm so had to have regular baths and treatment. Despite undergoing treatment, she soon bonded with staff and showed them how clever (and cheeky) she could be.

Daisy is a very clever dog, who knows many cues including down and spin which she likes to perform for food. She loves to play and always has lots of energy so is looking for an active owner.

Daisy has possibly had some poor experiences in the home, and will need time to build positive associations and be taught how to live in a home. She will need someone homoe most of the time. This will also include blocking her access to stealing food. She is a very agile girl and will easily be on the counters.

Daisy is dog friendly and can potentially go home with children of secondary school age- as long as they're confident with bouncy dogs. This will be dependent on meets at the centres.

🌟RESERVED🌟

Introducing Phoebe!

Phoebe is a 1 year old, Old English Sheepdog who hasn't had a great start in life. She was found matted, living in poor conditions. Despite this, Phoebe is full of life. It can take a little bit of time for her confidence to build in new environments, but before long she's bouncing around and enjoying herself as she should. Phoebe has the waggiest body and tail, and is always happy to see her favourite people.

She'll need an adopter who is able to build her confidence in new environments and show her all the things she's already missed out on. This includes teaching her it's okay to be left alone as she's never lived in a house. Phoebe is generally good with other dogs but can show some frustration barking at times - she's showing positive improvements working on this at the centre. If she was to go home with another dog, it would need to be a similar size dog and would be dependent on meets at the centre. She could possibly go home with children of secondary age +, again depending on meets at the centre. Phoebe will need an adopter who is committed to regularly grooming to keep on top of her coat once it grows back.

'Hi team!

It's been just over a week since Mr Frosty came home with us and we just wanted to give you a little update.

He’s settled in very well to his new home. He’s done lots of tunnelling and burrowing which is lovely to see, and he loves having a roll around in his sand. He discovered his wheel a couple days in and seems to be on it all the time now.

We are still trying out new snacks with him but he enjoys his millet, loves a mealworm and has tucked into some lettuce and broccoli too.

Whenever he is awake he always comes to the front to see what we’re up to - his cheeky personality is really showing now.
We absolutely adore him and are so grateful we were given the opportunity to give him a home.'

✨Adoption update✨

Beautiful Mia was adopted from Great Ayton in August 2023 and is thriving in her home!

"Good afternoon,

I’m contacting with another update on how Mia is doing, she is thriving!

We have just got back from her first weekend away and she was a dream, she will settle anywhere as long as she has something soft to lie on! As shown in the pictures!

Mia is doing so well with her food issues, she is not fussed when we are eating and sometimes leaves some of her breakfast to eat after her morning walk. She still loves treats!

Thank you again for everything. I will pop some pictures to show you how she is getting on 😊 "

Hallie and Esther found their forever home together.

'The girls are great. They are so nervous and reluctant to trust me but have settled reasonably well.

They really are two peas in a pod! They free roam around my house and seem to like the secluded spots such as behind my curtains and inside my wardrobes.

It saddens me that they don’t trust me fully yet but I am leaving them to their own devices and haven’t handled them so they can get to know their surroundings first.

Hallie is definitely the least confident. If Esther leaves her alone to go and grab a snack, she goes to find her!

I have seen both girls binky! I have caught Esther binkying twice and Hallie binkied this morning. Esther has also cleaned herself next to me and nudged me several times so I think I’m earning some of their trust bit by bit!

I know it will be a journey to earn their trust but I am so thankful to give them a second chance! Thank you x'

✨Adoption Update✨

We were thrilled to receive an update from Taco's adopters, who say:

'Taco is doing great. She’s been on 2 holidays so far which she loved. One of which was to the highlands and we’ve never seen zoomies like it 😂 she loves to pose and rightly so as she’s just the most beautiful pup.

We keep meaning to bring her in to see you all but haven’t found the time! We will make time though and bring her in.

Thank you for letting us foster and adopt her.'

It is Willow's turn to find her forever home🏡💖

Willow is an adventurous, young ragdoll in need of a new family to love and care for her. She is very playful and affectionate and will be sure to keep her new family entertained. We usually find her at the front of her pod in the hope she gets an extra fuss or two, as it has became apparent that she loves to be centre of attention. Willow is particularly fond of her pink toy mouse, she takes it on all of her travels and especially enjoys chasing it around the cattery.

Are you a ragdoll lover? Please share your experiences with this beautiful breed, in the hope that we can find Willow her perfect match 💖

✨Adoption update✨

Do you remember Troy?

Troy (now known as Jet) has been in his forever home for over a year now and we were thrilled to receive an update to hear how he has been doing!

Hello, I just wanted to give an update on Jet, adopted December 2023! He has settled in amazingly and has really come out of his shell in the past few months. He’s becoming more playful and confident by the day, but something that hasn’t changed is just how loving he is. He is, and always has been, so happy when he’s snuggled up with a member of the family on the sofa (especially if they let him have his favourite seat!). He’s even found his bark, something we rarely heard when we first adopted him. We all love him so much, and couldn’t ask for a gentler, more affectionate dog. Thank you!

As a bonus, I have included pics of our previous dogs from RSPCA Great Ayton. Ben (white poodle) adopted 2005, and Kip (formerly Bruce, brown collie cross) adopted 2011/2012. Both much loved (and sorely missed) family dogs!

✨Adoption update✨

'Hello, I thought I'd share some pics of Baloo looking extra handsome today 😍

We've been out for a walk and he's been sat in the garden taking in all the surroundings and listening to all the sounds. He's just perfect and we are so grateful every day to be able to watch him heal.'
