Rabbits for adoption 🐇

We have some beautiful bunnies who are ready and waiting for their new homes.

Sully, Luke and Jack would all love to find themselves a bunny partner to bond with just in time for Christmas. It has been a joy caring for these wonderful boys and they will make wonderful companions for their adopters.

They have all been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

She arrived into RSPCA care due to abandonment. 💔

Aurora is a sweet, friendly little lady. She is very inquisitive and enjoys being handled. We have limited history for Aurora, however we have got to know during her time with us and we know she will make a great addition to her new family.

Dotty has finally found herself a forever home!

Dotty arrived into RSPCA care due to welfare concerns. She found her transition into kennels quite overwhelming and would long for affection from staff. Dotty predominantly spent majority of her time on reception snoozing in her little bed and greeting as many visitors as possible. Returning back to her kennel became stressful for Dotty and kennels was not an environment she was coping in.

Dotty stole one of our animal care assistants' hearts, who provided her with a warm, loving temporary foster home until she was adopted by her new family. Dotty was a bundle of joy to be around and we are delighted to know she is settling into her new home well.

We have had a lovely update and lots of lovely photos from her new adopters, who say: 'She has settled in lovely, like she’s been here forever ❤️'

Noddy and Noodle have found their perfect forever home.

'I’m just emailing to show you how well Noddy and Noodle have settled in our home!
Here they both are snuggling up with our other rescue girl Polly! They love spending time together playing in the ball pit - even though Noddy likes to steal the balls and hide them! Noodles favourite place to nap is on me whilst covering me in his moulting hair! Noddy is a big big fan of the cat tower it has a fabric bowl that he naps in when he’s tired himself out! Thank you for trusting us to look after them, they are a beautiful addition to our family and family of ferrets and we can’t wait to give them their big outdoor play pen!'

We thought that it was time to welcome the Christmas spirit at Great Ayton! 🎄

With the assistance from our new canine receptionist, Baloo, the Christmas tree is officially up.🎅

It is our Christmas mission to make sure that no one goes without a little festive joy. Some of the animals in our care will spend this festive season with us, so we are determined to make it as wonderful as possible for them❄

Let's make Luke's christmas wish come true and help him find his forever home.🎅

Luke is a beautiful rabbit, who is still yet to find a forever family willing to give him a chance. 💔

We have found that Luke generally has a very inquisitive, loving and friendly demeanour that he desperately wants to share with his new bunny friend. 🐇

Luke is always the first to greet you on a morning and never fails to put a smile on our faces. He enjoys being handled, groomed and hand fed his favourite veg. In our eyes, Luke would make the perfect companion and we hope we can find him his forever home very soon.🥕

✨Supporter Sunday ✨

At the RSPCA Great Ayton Animal Centre we have a number of lovely animals awaiting adoption and we are aware that life outside a kennel environment in particular can pose potential new challenges when a transition is made to a forever home and family.

Our staff continually strive to find new methods of providing enrichment to every kind of animal, and we would like to say a big thank you to Gareth, who manages the Salvation Army Distribution Centre in Middlesbrough, for helping us to achieve one of our aims. After he was approached by one of our RSPCA Volunteer Fundraisers, Gareth managed to source a manual wheelchair and a pair of crutches
for us, as we are keen to expose our dogs to the sights and sounds that they may encounter in the future.

After almost 2 years in RSPCA care, Betsy is reserved and will soon be in her forever home! 💙

Betsy took a lot of time, patience and rehabilitation from the team at Great Ayton, particularly to build her confidence around going inside and getting into cars.

During her training session today she was keen to show how far she's come and hopped calmly into the car.

We can't provide the training and rehabilitation for dogs like Betsy without the kind donations from our supporters. Betsy's favourite training treats are hot dogs and sausages and she was happily posing in the car for one of these tasty snacks.

If you want to support the great work our kennel staff are doing to help the dogs get ready for rehoming, our centre is open to drop off donations, or have a look at our wishlist below.

Special Appeal - please read Ta**us, Atlas and Midnights heart breaking story💔👇

Ta**us, Atlas and Midnight were signed over into our care when their owner, who loved them all very much, sadly passed away.

It has been a confusing time for this trio, who have not only lost their companion that they had all clearly formed a strong bond with, but they are now without the security and routine in the home they once had.

All three cats were understandably shut down and had entered a state of extreme emotional withdrawal, fear and overwhelming stress. They initially spent all of their time curled up together, hiding away from the world in their beds.

Whilst dealing with their loss, it has been apparent that these beautiful, terrified souls have struggled with their transition in our cattery environment. We feel that a forever home is the only way forward to help fix their broken hearts.

After lots of patience and TLC they have started to trust the cattery team and we are hoping that a new family can offer them the love they have lost again soon.

To give Ta**us, Atlas and Midnight a new place to call home, please register your interest via the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdOgUwrYfnhvfGAZ78PMgyVV9wOCoywImZFSOQDHYVAmVhZKg/viewform

✨Supporter Sunday ✨

A big thank you to County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service for including the RSPCA Durham & Cleveland Inspectorate in their 50th anniversary open day at Durham Fire Station on Saturday 9th November 2024.

We were delighted to be visited by fire safety superhero 'Flamin Nora', who dropped in to share her top tips on kitchen safety. We would also like to extend our
gratitude to the fire cadets for their help.

Long stay rabbit residents, Poppy and Sia have finally found their forever home.🏡

'We are really pleased we adopted Poppy and Sia from the RSPCA. They are used to being handled and love cuddles which is great. Poppy and Sia both have a lovely temperament. They love the grass run and the noises the Chickens make, they are very curious animals. We have had cuddles morning and night and a good grooming session today. They seem to be settling in fine. They are loving their greens kale and cabbage, hay and carrots, Thank you so much for letting us adopt them.'
