Vinnie , 1 year old wire haired viszla.
Vinnie had a bit of an attitude problem with other dogs , reacting to dogs on or off lead in an aggressive manner . He doesn’t mean any harm but as he’s a big dog it can seem a bit scary . We started by getting his lead walking under control , if the walk is under control he can trust his walker more and feel more relaxed . We have taught him to stop reacting and being silly around other dogs . He’s not perfect but now he reacts 1/10 times rather than 9/10 times . He was also very hit and miss with his recall , only coming when he decided to , so we did some long line training and some steadiness training . His recall is now 99% . Still have a bit of work to do but the difference in him and his owner is remarkable . No treats , no harsh techniques have been used , Just a bit of understanding each way !

Meet daisy , roughly 18 months old rescued lurcher , I was asked if I could help with daisy’s anxiety as she’s terrified of everything outside , and gets really nervous around other dogs . As she’s a rescue we have no idea what’s happened In her past , rather than pitty her and try to cater to the anxiety my approach was to throw her in the deep end and go out greeting other dogs again and again carefully and under control until she realised nothing bad is coming from it . Her confidence is growing and her owner is starting to bond more and understand her . I love to help and work with rescue dogs , if anyone needs help with rescues il be offering a discounted deal get in touch .

Piper , almost 2 year old bulldog who was a bit of a “bully” around the house , charging the kids and throwing her weight around . I worked with piper a few times and showed her owner how to take charge and calm this behavior , her recall was also hit and miss so we polished that up with some long line training . Customer and dog all happy after 6/7 sessions 🙂 .

A dog is never happier than when they are doing what they are bred for!
Realistically that’s not easy for most people- to just go and work your dog, knowing how to do so.

I like to hone in on the primal instincts of our dogs and use that to our advantage in training, playing games, retrieving, and hunting. All things we can simulate to entertain our dogs and strengthen the bond between owner and dog.

It’s also fun for the owner as we’re not just walking the same old route, or throwing a ball across a boring field. 30 minutes of brain stimulation is much better than 3 hours of walking on a lead, or chasing a ball up and down.

I can offer some novice gun dog training for anyone that may be interested. Retrieving, place board training and some basic scent and dummy work.

Get in touch if this is something you would like to learn more about or to have a try with your dog. (Gun dog breeds only) don’t come at me with a chihuahua wanting to learn to hunt 😂

Meet Luna (Lunatic the nickname her owners gave her 😂) A 10 month old working Cocker Spaniel who is full of energy!
As with many spaniels, she is very intelligent! Although because of this she bores easily wanting more and more stimulation and exercise than most owners can deliver.
She barks and creates a fuss in the house and whilst out, will not come back as she is having too much fun! We have practiced some techniques in the house to stop her yapping and we have introduced the long line outside to improve her recall. She’s now starting to see her owner as her owner and not as a sidekick!
One of the first things I would say to a dog owner is that it is a friendship and we love them very much but it is also ownership. If we don’t own our dogs, they can easily just not pay attention to us and will follow their own agenda.
Well done, Luna!

Meet cooper , he is with us for training walks , a service we offer as a middle ground between training sessions and standard walks . This is aimed at dogs that don’t have any real behavioral issues but do need a bit of work on the basics , Cooper is a bit nervous around other dogs and gets very excited by cats and squirrels! I am helping him to build his confidence and ignore his “urges” 🙂 after two walks he his feeling calmer and coming closer and closer to other dogs without freaking out .

Meet Khoda - A 3yo Labrador.

Khoda came to me to brush up on his gunndog skills, as his owner is a keen shooter and wanted him to be more controlled.
His recall wasn’t great as he was too excited to go and retrieve game (without command) and he wouldn’t retrieve to hand, he would rather drop the game or training dummy at a distance.
I started by teaching him to focus on me and my needs, keeping him at heel and watching my own dog retrieve. Once he had shown me he was capable of being calm, I introduced the training dummy and practised passing it back and forth to me- praising him when he put it in my hand- until he understood that’s what I wanted.
After we had passed that test I started to send him out on command to find and retrieve the dummy and fetch it back to me for his praise.

A bit of understanding either way and he came on leaps and bounds until he was working steadily, walking to heel , and retrieving on command!
His owner was very happy with the results and Khoda is his dog of choice now for a day out shooting.

Meet Ronnie- a French Bulldog.

Ronnie came to us with some real behavioural issues. His main issue was his aggression towards other dogs, even dogs at a distance. Ronnie is loving towards humans and great with children but he gets very worked up and anxious when he sees another dog, which quickly turns into aggression. His owners are fully aware that he has missed out on essential socialisation at a crucial stage in his life- when he was a pup.

We have worked with Ronnie in the past and he showed a huge improvement, but in the last year his owners lives have taken over, with moving house and raising children, Ronnie has slipped back into his old ways. Some dogs can have unexplained aggression which can be caused by bad breeding, trauma or some kind of neurological problem.

Since we have seen him again, we have introduced him to new dogs that we know are calm and stable and he is looking and learning from their calm demeanour. Alongside some corrections and control, he is coming along nicely and his level 10 aggressive behaviour is calming again.

Ronnie’s owners aren’t expecting him to meet and greet and enjoy being with other dogs, they would just be happy with him not creating (lunging, barking and squealing) when he even spots another dog.

After a few sessions, we can now walk near to other dogs and we are slowly socialising him. Working with the owners on a 1-2-1 basis we are training Ronnie and he will be a much happier, calmer dog when we are done.
We are so pleased with the progress he is already making. 🐕 ✅ 😃

Meet Bruno-
Bruno is an 18 month old male Malti-poo.

Bruno’s owner contacted me to get some help as she was struggling with some issues. As with a lot of dogs, he has suffered through the pandemic, as he missed out on important socialisation. Not only that, he has suffered with a hereditary condition effecting his legs- which meant he was stuck indoors for several months.

During the first session it was clear that Bruno was a happy, friendly and intelligent dog but he was slightly misunderstood.
He was walking on a retractable lead which his owner felt gave him freedom but also kept him safe. The first thing we did was change his lead which instantly put us in control.
This alongside some control techniques and commands has meant Bruno now walks nicely on a lead and more importantly, his owner feels she can let him off whilst out for walks.

This progress came after working with Bruno for just 2 sessions! Although Bruno is not ready to be completely signed off, as we are still working on his recall in any situation and dealing with distractions, he and his owner are much more content and confident whilst out and about.
