Half day or full day for Saturday and/or Sunday - paid position.

We’re currently looking for some extra help to look after our lovely livery horses in Bookham, Surrey.

All usual stable and horse care duties, working with an experienced team. Good pay and fully managed yard, with supervision for juniors. You will work with the team in a friendly and knowledgeable environment where you can learn/expand your equine skills and become a valued member of the GBEC team.

Minimum age 12+

The other week, we had the lovely Jess and Eden at Chapps Physio come and provide a talk and demonstration of their new Hofmag. They also taught the correct way to give your horse targeted stretches before and after you've ridden.

Andrew adapts his sessions to individuals and their horse/pony, to get the most out of each session and create tailored goals. Teaching beginner children to 5* competition riders.

Andrew has many years of top-level showjumping experience, successfully competing nationally and internationally. With an impressive amount of accomplishments including: the Prestigious Hickstead Queens Cup, Hickstead Derby and standing Reserve Champion at Royal International and HOYS over two consecutive years.

Thank you to Alan Hiscox of the British Horse Society who helped organise an awareness day for the "Dead Slow Campaign" here at Great Bookham Equestrian Centre at the weekend. We were very grateful also to Surrey Police for assisting with educating drivers on how to pass horses safely on the road. Sometimes horse riders can hear or see something that a driver cannot and horses can move very fast in any direction if they are startled. Together with the new changes in the Highway Code that were implemented in 2022 and, as our roads locally have become busier with people visiting local Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty or National Trust properties, it was helpful to highlight how drive safely through our lovely countryside.

Saturday 31st August - Dressage Test Practice Clinic with expert judge, Denise Vertigen.

Here at GBEC, we are very excited to be sharing this last-minute clinic... Denise, who is a Sunshine Tour Championship Dressage Judge and also a regular GBEC Dressage Evening Judge, will be able to watch you perform your preferred dressage test, (of all levels), to share with you her over 30 years of experience.

Giving you an insight through the judge's eye to provide tips and pointers, helping you get those extra marks and know what your future judges will be looking for. Great opportunity for anyone looking for any extra tips before upcoming shows or great for general dressage test practice before the show season ends.

More info on Denise:
Denise is a BHS Accredited Coach and Classically trained dressage trainer.
Denise was a National UAE Judge and travelled to Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Qatar to judge at local level and National C’ships as well as presenting/commentating on television and promoting the sport. Denise has also studied classical equitation with Desi Lorens (a student of the late Master Oliveira) as well as BHS Stage III HKC and Teaching.

Denise is currently competing at BD Silver at Elementary FSM and Bronze Medium level with her 14 year old Royal Hanoverian gelding, San Fidelio, whom took from the UK to Dubai and back again! He has won 2 National C’ships and 2018 Freestyle to Music C'ship.
