Learning about canine nutrition has taught me so much about my own health needs. I experiment more with different herbs, seeds, teas and am much more conscious about my gut health especially.

This morning River and I shared some soaked chia seeds and natural yogurt. Fibre and probiotics ✅

Poor River this morning 🤣 I accidentally poured too much bone broth into her bowl and she ended up with an absolute mush 🙈

Not gonna lie though, she absolutely lapped it up. She loved it 😍

Goat bone broth, egg, egg membrane (inside of the shell), natural yogurt and turkey 80/10/10 🐾

Trying out a new brand! Kiezebrink (the darker chunks) and Drool Raw (the small pellets) both turkey 🦃

We've used Kiezebrink raw bones and fish before, but have never tried the minces before 👌🏻 Drools Raw is completely new to us, but so far River isn't too impressed... She always seems to turn her nose up at the minces that come in pellets like that 🫣

We're flying to the Isle of Man today to watch the TT 😍 we can't wait for a week off!

We normally take River, but the boat prices were extortionate so we're having to fly over this time 😭 however, River is staying with the wonderful Malcolm & his family, she's gonna have an amazing time going on alllll the adventures 🐾

One of the most "controversial" topics when speaking to dog guardians! Unfortunately there is so much misinformation about neutering and it breaks my heart to see dogs being neutered unnecessarily, especially those who have surgery before reaching full maturity :(

It's great to see a shift in the conversation, particularly to see vet publications calling for more consideration before neutering. HOWEVER, I still hear clients saying every day that their vet "told" them they "had to" get their dog "done" 🥴

Please, I urge you, consider leaving your dogs intact at least until they reach full maturity. The consequences of not going so are not only devastating physically, but also behaviourally.

And shifting to my dog trainer hat here, if your dog has *any* behavioural problems (barking, lunging, separation problems) please do not neuter them thinking it will "fix" it; it will likely make them worse.

Chunky had such severe itching that his skin had open wounds and his paws were oozing with pus! This poor boy was so itchy and had such frequent diarrhoea that he spent more time pooping on his walks than he did enjoying himself 😔

I will never forget the text I received from his mum a week after his diet change saying how he was running around after his ball again and how happy he seemed 😍

We're currently doing an elimination diet with River, alongside the Adored Beast Ye**ty Breast Protocol. River had a flare up with her yeast, so we've decided to start following the learnings from Traditional Chinese Medicine,(TCM) and feed cooling proteins.

TCM suggests that food has cooling or warming effects, and that allergic dogs should eat a diet of cooking proteins to support the reduction of inflammation in the body. Just like in humans, inflammation is the cause of most ailments in dogs, so avoiding warm proteins like venison or lamb can help resolve the disharmony causing these reactions.
