Do you know how to store your dog's kibble safely?

Improper kibble storage can lead to bacteria growth, mould, and even microplastic contamination!

If you feed kibble, here’s how to store it safely:
✅ Keep it in the original bag. Kibble bags are designed to preserve freshness and reduce bacteria growth.
✅ Place the entire bag into an airtight container, as this protects against moisture, pests, and oxidation.
✅ Store the container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Heat and light can make the kibble go rancid very quickly.
✅ Wash the container thoroughly between each bag, as leftover oils and crumbs can turn rancid and create the perfect environment for mould growth.

❌ Pouring kibble directly into plastic tubs can scratch the surface, creating the perfect place for bacteria to grow, and may expose your dog to microplastics over time.
❌ Do not dispose of the original packaging, as this includes the food's batch number which you will need to know should there be any recalls.

Did you know this? How do you store your dog's kibble?

If you’d told me a few years ago I’d end up working with dogs full time, I don’t think I would've believed you.

A career in corporate mental health training left me burnt out and I started volunteering at a local trainer’s classes to help with my mental health. I’ve lived with anxiety and depression for years, and being around dogs gave me a purpose and an excuse to switch off from 'real life'. And in true ADHD fashion, what began as a way to cope and a hobby, turned into a real passion. I found myself not just learning more about dogs, but really wanting to understand them. How they learn, what motivates them.

Then came River, my angel girl. A Golden Retriever with a nasty yeast problem and a sassy attitude. I spent so long deep-diving into nutrition, desperate to heal her, and learning about training to help her be more confident in a crazy COVID world. That journey really opened my eyes! I learnt that kind training can make the most nervous dogs confident to navigate the world again, and that good food can truly heal our pets.

Now, I help other dog owners find their own path, whether it’s through training or nutrition, so their dogs can live longer, happier lives. And honestly? It all started with a need to heal myself, and it still heals me every day.

If you’re struggling or your dog is, please know you’re not alone. I’ve been there and I’m here if you ever want to chat 💛

“How long will it take?” ⏰

It’s one of the questions I’m asked the most! And honestly, I can't really give you an answer...

Every dog is an individual. Some pick things up quickly, others need more time. The truth is, how fast we see progress depends on so many things like how often you practise, how closely you follow the plan, whether you send me videos for feedback so you can keep progressing between sessions, and even how healthy your dog is...

Because yes, diet has a huge impact on training. A dog running on the wrong fuel will struggle to focus, stay calm, and learn. That’s why I always look at the full picture and help you make improvements to your dog's wellbeing, not just their behaviour.

My work is about long lasting results. If you’re chasing a quick fix, I’m sorry but I am not the right trainer for you. But if you’re ready to put in the work and want a calmer, happier, healthier dog for life: I’m here to help.

All the glitz and glam for last night's ✨

I was honoured to be a finalist for the Sole Trader category at this year's Hyndburn Business Awards. It's been less than six months since I dedicated myself to Chewing on a full time basis, and to have been nominated, let alone shortlisted is a huge achievement and something I never expected 💛

Unfortunately I didn't take the win, but I also feel it in my bones that this is just the beginning and things are about to go wild 🚀

Ultimately, the feeling I always have in me and keeps me going is of how incredibly proud of all my clients I am, because you are absolutely fu***ng smashing it guys. The healthier and happier dogs I envisioned when I made the decision to focus on Chewing, are now a reality. And *that* is why I do what I do, that's what it's always and will always be about 🥰

A huge thank you goes out to my husband Jamie, who btw looks divine in a tux, and came to support me despite having a 10+ hour flight ahead of him this morning 💛 and another huge thank you to for doing my hair & make-up, she completely took the stress out of the day and made me feel absolutely stun ✨

Today is the day!! I made the shortlist for Sole Trader at the Hyndburn Business Awards 2025, and tonight is the awards ceremony 🥳

I'm getting rid of the muddy paw print covered leggings, and emptying my pockets of poo bags, and dressing up for the night 💃🏻

Wish me luck!!!!🤞🏻

I'm tired af 🎶 I woke up and chose violence today 😂

1️⃣ Dog food manufacturers, stop depriving dogs of nutritious options, just because it doesn't fit your processed food model. There are so many dogs right now missing on true longevity boosters, foods their owners already have in their cupboards and fridges! All because the processed dog food industry marketed so hard for brown rocks, that as a society we forgot to apply logic to how we feed our dogs 🤷🏻‍♀️

2️⃣ Not every itchy skin, ear infection, ye**ty paw case is a protein intolerance, and even if it is, the over reliance on prescription foods with zero long-term plan is harming our dogs and shortening their lifespans. There is a place for prescription foods, but they're being slung around like sweets at a kids' party (ironic comparison really, as some of these foods actually have sugar in them 🤣)

3️⃣ Sick and tired of seeing people, including trainers, constantly talking about control and obedience. Yes, of course obedience is important in the context of safety for your dog, yourself, and the public. But please, let's remember these animals are curious, playful and loving beings. If you're bringing a dog into your life with the sole purpose of barking orders at them 24/7 so you can get clout online, please don't.

That's it, that's the post for today.
