The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, also called the Staffy or Stafford, is a purebred dog of small to medium size in the terrier group that originated in the northern parts of Birmingham and in the Black Country of Staffordshire, for which it is named. They descended from 19th-century bull terriers that were developed by crossing bulldogs with various terriers to create a generic type of dog generally known as bull and terriers. Staffords share the same ancestry with the modern Bull Terrier, although the two breeds developed along independent lines, and do not resemble each other. Modern Staffords more closely resemble the old type of bull terrier, and were first recognised as a purebred dog breed by The Kennel Club of Great Britain in 1935.
Within the broad sweep of dog history, the story behind the modern Stafford is rather brief and somewhat confusing because of the multiple aliases attached to these dogs in centuries past, such as the "Patched Fighting Terrier", "Staffordshire Pit-dog", "Brindle Bull", and "Bull-and-Terrier". Similar crosses also had aliases such as half-and-halves and half-breds. Blood sports such as bull-baiting and bear-baiting were outlawed with the passing of the Cruelty to Animals Act 1835 by Parliament, making it illegal to bait animals but promoting the matching of dogs against each other. Dog breeders migrated away from the heavier bulldogs, and introduced terrier blood into their crosses for gameness and agility. These bull and terrier crosses produced the ancestral breeding stock that, over the course of decades, evolved into the modern conformation show dogs we know today as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the Bull Terrier. It was shortly before the American Civil War that immigrants from Great Britain brought their bull and terrier crossbreeds into the U.S. They became the ancestral progenitors of the American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaff), Miniature Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier, and American Pit Bull Terrier.

Remembering Lucky today😊😔

Lucky’s story ❤️

Lucky had a loving home from his puppyhood in Hungary, but sadly, after 3.5 years, they couldn’t keep him anymore, so they contacted us to help Lucky find a loving forever home (Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue).... we, of course, said yes as we were afraid where poor Lucky would end up if we didn’t help. A family offered a loving home for him, so Lucky arrived in the UK 3 weeks ago... he was confused and not happy... we knew his heart was broken, he didn’t understand why he had to leave his family where he grew up.... we knew he would need time to adapt. Sadly Lucky wasn’t coping well, he couldn’t cope with all the change and the outside world, on his walks he started to attack everything and anything. Everything it was threatening for him...
we had to take him back for safety reasons, and he went into kennels nearby. Our hearts were broken 💔💔💔
We turned for help to Spencer at KB DogDivision, who helped us before, and of course, he never say no! He went to visit him, took him out, and started to work with him. Within a week, he is a different dog! His good with other dogs, and he is good with walking on the lead. He wants to listen, and he wants to learn! We are so grateful for Spencer for giving him a chance and not just listing him as an aggressive dog!
He did not show any aggression to anyone as he knows he has a good leader who he can trust! Wow!
We are so happy, and we know his very loving forever home will come who will understand and provide his needs. Please please please you need to understand what these poor dogs going through and give them a chance to settle, they need time, understanding, patient, guidance, a good leader and lots of love to overcome their fears 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️🙏🙏

Thank you, Spencer, for healing Lucky’s broken heart and saving him from unhappiness and fear ❤️
God listened to our prayers as always 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Rest in Peace Lucky and we happy the remainder of your life was the best.And thank you to mummy Lucky who took Lucky in and gave him a chance and loved him how he should be loved
