A polite reminder that when you make a booking with me, can you please ensure you've taken your travel or flight time home into account. Whatever time your flight arrives, are you going to have enough time to get through passport, pick up luggage & make the journey back to me before we close. Unfortunately this has happened on quite a few occasions, especially lately, where customers have arranged a pick up on the same day they're back from holiday not realising their flight arrives late afternoon or evening & I've had to keep the kitty until the following day, which, if I'm not busy isn't an issue, but when I have cats coming in early the following morning, it poses a huge problem as I don't always have space. So can you please check that your flight or travel time home will allow you to pick up on the day you've requested & if there's any doubt then please book an extra day. Thank you

Did you know that a recent study found that the most common reasons for a domestic rabbit to be presented to a veterinarian are all tied to long-term low welfare standards?

We use the term welfare a lot, but what does it actually mean and how can we, as owners, improve welfare for our rabbits?

Welfare, in a nutshell, refers to our ability to meet the needs of our domestic pets mentally and physically. So this week we will be featuring how the ways we keep and care for our rabbits impacts upon their long-term welfare and what health and behavioural problems we inadvertently cause by not meeting good to high welfare standards. It is important to note that our advice is supported by peer reviewed scientific research relating to captive/domestic rabbits.

Low/Poor Welfare
Small accommodation prevents the rabbit’s ability to move freely.
Low Fibre, high sugar diet
Rabbit is unvaccinated and unneutered
No enrichment
Rabbit living alone
Cleaned once a week

What Problems Occur

Musculoskeletal problems resulting from the inability to move freely
Poor gut function, potentially resulting in frequent bouts of stasis, obesity, and poor dental health
Risk of death from RHD and Myxi along with high risk of uterine cancer for females and drastically increased risk of hormonal aggression
Boredom resulting in destructive behaviours such as hutch chewing, digging at bedding and aggression
Increase in stress hormones
Drastically increased risk of flystrike

This gorgeous mum and son pair will be looking for their new home together in a few weeks time. Smiley (mum) had kittens when she was just 5 months old, she started her life outside but has come on leaps and bounds since coming into our care. She can be a little shy to start with but once she trusts her humans she is a very sweet and loving girl. Her son Odin will be looking to be rehomed with her. He is a cheeky little man who has started to become mischievous and very curious as he is growing! He is very cuddly and is turning into a lap cat.
Smiley has been an amazing mum despite being her a kitten herself, she would love to go to a home where she can relax and be a kitten again. She loves to play and cuddle up with her kittens so we have no doubt that she will love to be rehomed with her little boy 🐾

⭐Can you give Stripe a new home?⭐

Stripe is looking for either an experienced home with someone who is willing to take the time required to win her over or a home on a Garden/farm/stables type setting. She has been in our care for several weeks, at the beginning nobody was able to get near her, now she will come up an investigate her foster carer and except food however she is very frightened of being touched.

Stripe hasn't had the best start and is not very trusting of humans yet so she will be a long term project for the right person.

Please get in contact for more information on this gorgeous kitten 🐾

Do you recognise this cat? Turned up at someone's house and wouldn't leave. No chip so applied a paper collar but no response. Just off Mallard Way, Bradwell.

Proof of ownership will be required.

We've had a few new arrivals this week, but so busy and no time to post them.

Meet Nathan. He's a mature gentleman who was taken to the Vet Hospital as he was very thin and wobbly. He was entire and not microchipped. They ran bloods, fiv/felv tested negative, and all was good. He was castrated yesterday, had his first vaccination today, and now all he needs is a new home where he will be fed regularly, have a comfy bed and be loved!

If you would like to offer Nathan the retirement home he deserves, please email your address and contact number to [email protected] 💚

With kitten season upon us, just a reminder that if you put a collar on your kitten you need to check it regularly. There have been too many occasions where kittens have stayed here & their collars are too tight. A correctly fitted collar should allow 2 fingers between the collar & neck & the collar should have a safety release. When you see your kitten everyday you don't realise how quick they grow, so please check it & adjust it regularly.
