Wellingborough Dog Welfare, or Wellidog as we are more fondly known is a local charity in Grendon, Northamptonshire, and we are dedicated to making life easier for strays and unwanted dogs locally from surrounding areas. Founded in 1993 we have been rescuing stray dogs for over 22 years and are still as committed today as we always have been. With so many abandoned and unwanted dogs entering kenne

ls every day we are committed to finding loving homes for all of our dogs. We are a no-kill shelter who believe that second hand dogs make first class friends, and we work around the clock to raise funds to care for the dogs in our care while we search for their perfect forever home. All of the money we raise goes directly to our charity, but we can only carry on the work we do with the help of people’s generosity. We do not claim expenses for our work, our payment is seeing the dogs in our care transferred to a forever home and becoming part of a family where they are loved.

🧙‍♂️ Meet Frodo, a delightful little lad of around 2 years old who is ready to find a family of his own. He is a loving, happy and affectionate chihuahua x jack Russell with a big personality.

⭐️ About Frodo:

•Super affectionate: he adores people and loves cuddles! He will stretch his legs out for a fuss. He can mouth a little still when excited

• Playful: enjoys playing with toys and charging around

• Food lover: mealtimes are a favourite time of the day

🏡 Ideal home

Frodo will thrive as the only dog. He hasn’t been socialised properly and can be quite vocal when he sees other dogs. He is a typical chihuahua mix but he is incredibly loving and loyal. He would just love to be the centre of somebodies world and would snuggle up for cuddles on the sofa. He is always so happy to meet anybody and always has a smile on his face 🩵

✋ what he needs:

• a patient owner who will give him time to settle and feel safe
• a owner who appreciates small dogs with big personalities
• a home where he is the centre of somebodies world 🌍 a chance to explore the outside world

🎄🐾 Wellidog Christmas Shoebox Appeal 🐾🎄

This Christmas, the dogs in the care of Wellidog need a little extra love — and you can help make their tails wag! Many of our rescue dogs will be spending the festive season waiting for their forever homes, but with your kindness, we can make sure they still feel the magic of Christmas (alongside their Christmas dinners).

We’re asking supporters to put together a Christmas Shoebox filled with small comforts and essentials to brighten a dog’s Christmas morning.

✨ What to include:
• Tasty dog treats (sealed and in-date)
• A tough, fun toy to keep them entertained
• A warm blanket or cosy fleece
• A collar, harness, lead or coat
• Poo bags, training treats, or enrichment items


🐶 Please avoid: rawhide, cooked bones, perishables, or anything unsafe for dogs.

Every shoebox, no matter how simple, brings joy to a dog who’s had a difficult start. Your kindness helps them feel safe, warm, and cared for while they wait for the loving home they deserve.

❤️ How to donate:
Shoeboxes can be dropped off at Wellidog throughout December. If you can’t make a box, individual items or small donations are just as appreciated.

Let’s make sure every Wellidog dog knows they’re loved this Christmas.

💥💥 Loving home needed for Dolly and Kenny - adorable poodle cross pair 💥💥

Meet Dolly (8) and Kenny (6), an inseparable pair of poodle crosses looking for a forever home together. These two are full of character, charm and affection

🐩 About Dolly:

Dolly is the calmer of the two. She enjoys a gentle pottering around the house and garden then settling down for a cuddle. She loves affection and will give your hand a polite nudge if you dare to stop fussing her!

🐾 About Kenny:

Kenny is the younger and more energetic one. He is a loving, needy boy who adores being by Dolly’s side. He loves to play with a ball. He will chase it, bring it back and expect you to keep throwing it. He can be a bit vocal but is full of sweetness and enthusiasm. He will bond strongly to his people and loves a cuddle!

💛 what they need:

• A home together
• Children 8+
• owners willing to keep up with their grooming needs! They came to us in a state
• They can woof at unknown dogs but are fine if introduced slowly and correctly.

These two will bring warmth, fun and companionship to their new home, they really do have so much to give to somebody. They have not put a foot wrong!

Meet Bowie - Full of bounce and love!

Age: 2 years old
Breed: crossbreed (possibly yorkie x schnauzer)

Bowie hasn’t had the easiest start- he spent his early life living outside in a rabbit hutch, completely matted and neglected. Despite this, this survivor has a big heart and endless love.

He is a happy, bouncy, affectionate boy who wants nothing more than to be with people. Bowies quirky side? He has a bit of an ear obsession - he loves to lick ears (dogs or people alike)

Because he has never lived in a home properly he will need time, patience and guidance to learn about house training, boundaries and manners. He is an eager boy who is into everything, a wriggler!

He can get frustrated if he can’t do something he wants to or restricted and can give a little nip/mouth. So a confident, calm owner who can set clear, consistent boundaries is a must!

He is good with other dogs and travels well in the car. Unfortunately he is not suitable for a home with young children, teens + if very dog savvy. Regular grooming is essential and he needs to get used to it as has likely never had a groom until now. No cats

Meet Boudi (Boudicca) 🐾🐾

Approx 6-7 years old female terrier (possibly Jagd terrier)

Say hello to Boudi, a bright, spirited, busy little terrier with a big personality and a big heart. True to her working type roots, Boudi is always on the go. She loves nothing more than getting out and about, following her nose, exploring the world.

When not exploring she can enjoy curling up in her bed for a snooze. She is a total foodie and will never say no to a tasty treat.

Her favourite thing in life? Her squeaky ball - she takes her ball duties very seriously and will play all day. She does destroy them in the process

Boudi is ok with other dogs though will ignore them when her beloved ball is around. She would suit and active home with plenty of exercise. Children 10+ but no cats!

She greets everybody with her stump tail wagging and her beautiful smile, full of love and enthusiasm. She will make a wonderful companion.

Boudi ideal home 💚 :

• active home that loves walks
• children 10+
• no cats
• somebody who enjoys a terriers fun loving, cheeky nature
• secure garden needed!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meet Sky our beautiful 1 1/2 year old staffy cross looking for her forever home ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A stunning young staff x (possibly boxer or small bit of lurcher) with a heart as big as her appetite. She came to us a little skinny so is making up for lost time. Food is her greatest love (well, after people of course)

Sky is a bright young girl who loves human company. She is still young and learning so she will need some training and guidance but I am sure she will pick it up quickly!

She does have a prey drive so cannot live with cats and she would be best in a home with no small dogs (although is happy to say hello on a walk), she could live with a medium size dog or bigger. She has not shown any aggression to other dogs

She would love a home to join in on lovely walks and adventures. She is ready to explore the world and be your adventure buddy. She is a nice size and not too big! She could live with sensible children 8+

This beautiful girl is waiting to steal somebodies heart and your snacks too!
