A new fitness and rehabilitation centre for your pets based in central Grimsby. We are an animal Hydrotherapy Centre built for fitness and rehabilitation.

We are run by 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses who have completed the SEG Level 3 Award in Hydrotherapy. We have both aquatic treadmill and a hydrotherapy pool with jets to accommodate your patients needs. Please note, we cannot accept patients without a veterinary referral form. Physiotherapy 🙌

Our physiotherapy room is now completely up and running with Charlotte.

Physiotherapy is currently being offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, referral forms are essential.

Charlotte offers a range of physiotherapy techniques including:
- Laser Therapy
- Ultrasound Therapy
- TENS Therapy
- Massage techniques

Did you know our Physiotherapist Charlotte has a Laser Therapy Machine?

What is this you ask? 🤔

Well… Laser Therapy reduces inflammation and pain, improving healing and can also be used to manage infected wounds. Laser therapy uses an intense light beam, encouraging healing at a cellular level, increasing blood flow and reducing scar formation. It is great for soothing sore joints and easing discomfort, it can be very beneficial for patients suffering with arthritis, acute or chronic inflammation.

Whisper ⭐️

Whisper has recently joined the HydroPet family for fitness sessions. At present, she has no medical issues but her Mum wanted her to be used to the machines and water in a controlled environment incase she ever needed our assistance.

Fun fact: did you know that most dogs who love the water away from the centre do not enjoy it as much in their sessions. We believe this is because we have clean water in a controlled environment which the dogs feel takes the fun away from swimming!

Annual leave 🔴⚫️

River here says “I am just borrowing my Mummy for some annual leave. You can have her back on Monday 4th November”

Nikki is taking some annual leave to spend with her family. This starts today (Tuesday 22nd October) and will be until Monday 4th November. Chloe will be holding down the fort whilst Nikki is gone.

Please note, HydroPet hydrotherapy unit will not be open on the following dates:

Tuesday 22nd October
Tuesday 29th October
Thursday 31st October
We will also be closing early on Friday 1st November.

Everyone say hi to Pablo ❤️

Pablo is one of our newest HydroPet members. He has joined us due to hind limb weakness.

Pablo is a little superstar and has done very well during his sessions so far 🥰 We are focusing mainly on treadmill work at present to build muscle strength and stability. Pablo is also on a weightloss programme and has already lost 1KG through 20% food reduction. Keep up the good work Pablo ⭐️

Everybody say hello to the lovely Kevin🩵

Kevin has been referred for hydrotherapy as a result of a shoulder injury, meaning he’s missing out on his longer walks, off lead time and his absolute favourite day of the week - day care!
We’re starting hydrotherapy to help support his poorly leg, work on redistributing his muscle mass and help him get on the road to recovery faster so he can get back to his usual lifestyle!

Kevin doesn’t love water but he has done amazingly well in his initial session with Chloe today!

Louis 🥰

The face of an utter cheese monster!

You may remember seeing Louis’ post a little while ago.

Louis here has hind limb paralysis caused by the spinal cord becoming compressed. Louis had surgery on this and has been receiving intensive rehab with us and our physiotherapist.

Louis’ progress is slow but he is building strength and shows great determination. Over the last few weeks, we are seeing better reflexes and strength in his hind limbs as well as better spinal stability when completing his exercises.

Louis says, “Nikki I only come for the squeezy cheese so hurry up!”

Eric ⭐️

This week Nikki had the pleasure of meeting Eric.

Eric has been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. This is managed well with pain relief.
Eric’s Mum got in contact with us to assist in building muscle, keeping him lean and active to help slow the progression of Hip Dysplasia.

Eric was a little super star and did not mind the Treadmill or Pool!

Lexi ⭐️

Lexi has joined the HydroPet family recently due to a non-compressive disc extrusion. Luckily, Lexi’s parents were on the ball and got her seen by a vet quickly and Lexi is making a good recovery.

We will now work to rehabilitate Lexi and improve muscle strength. There will also be an element of retraining gait as this condition has left her a little wobbly at times!

As you can see, Lexi is a gorgeous happy golden oldie ❤️

Rose ⭐️

We have recently had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Rose.

Rose is a 6 month old Hungarian Vizsla who has been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia and degenerative joint disease. We are going to be working with Rose to build up her muscle and strength.

The aim will also be to keep Rose lean.

Rose is a bit hydrophobic so we spent her initial assessment getting to know her and getting her comfortable with the water. Due to her age, her exercise will be managed very carefully so as not to overexert her whilst she is still growing.

The dreaded “C” word!

Can we just take a moment to discuss Christmas with you all 🙈 we know, we know don’t shoot us for it!

We are just planning ahead and wanted people’s thoughts on our opening times around Christmas.

Our proposal is to be closed the week commencing 16/12/2024 and will reopen on or around 30/12/2024, closing again for New Years Day.

It is important that we do close down for Christmas to allow us time to give the centre a deep clean. This is the only time of year that we do close down and usually fit our deep cleaning in around appointments throughout the rest of the year.

If we were to open around the 30th December, would people attend their appointments or do you feel this is family time and you do not want to disrupt this? Please let us know your thoughts below so we can plan ⬇️⬇️

SNEAK PEAK 🙈

As most of you will know, we have been very excited about the development of our physiotherapy room!

The other exciting thing is that we now have a toilet! As most of you know, the toilet has been a highlight of our conversations (sad we know!).

More pictures will follow after we have added the finishing touches to our new physio room.

WEATHER POST ❄️🌧️💨☔️

As the colder months are approaching us, can we please advise all clients to consider bringing along coats/body suits/drying robes for your patients after their session.

Whilst we always endeavour to get them as dry as possible, the cold will still surround the joints which will undo the good work they have achieved during their sessions.

We had good results last year with the body suits for our arthritic and joint cases. Especially for the colder nights and brisk walks.

Here is Santo modelling his body suit last week 🥰 This bodysuit was purchased from Amazon. If anyone would like the link for this suit, please drop us an email and we can supply it.

If you need any more information or would like to discuss why we would recommend the full body suits rather than a coat, please do ask a member of the team and we will be happy to explain.

Bruno 🫶🏼

This week we met the very handsome Bruno.

Bruno is attending our centre due to having spinal surgery 3 weeks ago! Bruno is one of the lucky ones whose stubbornness and determination has paid off as he is walking. However, his work comes with some difficulties.

Over the next few weeks, we will be working on improving Bruno’s proprioception and gait to hopefully enable a less wobbly walk. This will be a process and will take time and perseverance but we do not doubt that he will get there.

We cannot wait to see you improve!

Kiwi 🥝 🌟 We are so so thrilled with how far Kiwi has come! This is the first time that Kiwi has swam for us and we couldn’t be happier 🥰 Kiwi used to be very worried by the higher water levels so we have been desensitising him at the end of his sessions by increasing the water levels slowly. We were so so happy and surprised to see him take the plunge and start swimming during his session on Monday 🥳🥹 Well done Kiwi!

Jumping into the weekend with a splash 💦 Here is Raven demonstrating her amazing jumping into the water, clearing the full length of our pool 😂! Raven comes for fitness session and usually works in the treadmill. However, every now and again we like to give her a fun session and let her do some diving in the pool! As you can see, she thoroughly enjoys drenching Nikki and aims for diving on Nikki. Have a great weekend all 🥰

Superstar Bleu paddling away!✨ Can you believe when Bleu first came to us he couldn’t keep his front paws below the surface of the water when he swam, just look at him now - He does still love to make the occasional splash!!💦 Bleu amazes us more and more each week and we adore him and his chatty ways☺️
