Thanks for all your love and support ❤️ 💕
Physiotherapy has emerged as a cornerstone in the management of chronic pain in dogs, offering a non-pharmacological approach that is both compassionate and effective. Chronic pain, whether due to arthritis, hip dysplasia, or other underlying conditions, can significantly impede a dog's quality of life, affecting their mobility, mood, and overall well-being. Physiotherapy intervenes by employing a range of therapeutic exercises and techniques, such as massage, heat therapy, and joint mobilizations, aimed at alleviating discomfort and enhancing mobility.
These interventions work synergistically to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote the healing of affected tissues. Moreover, physiotherapy fosters muscle strength and joint flexibility, essential components in mitigating the stress placed on affected areas and preventing further deterioration. By doing so, it facilitates a dog’s ability to engage in daily activities with greater ease and less pain, promoting a happier and more active lifestyle.
Furthermore, physiotherapy also emphasizes the importance of tailored exercise regimens and home care strategies, empowering pet owners to actively participate in the management of their dog's condition. This comprehensive approach not only fosters physical improvement but also nurtures a supportive and understanding environment for the dog, enhancing their overall quality of life.

Amazing training walk today with the beautiful Harvey, Myla and Poppy. All rescue dogs that came to us with fear-based reactivity. But with time, love and gentle and slow introduction they are sharing the environment in harmony #forcefreedogtraining #fearfreetraining #germanshepherdrescue #dogrescue #animalrescue
Thanks to The Association of INTODogs case study evening for all your amazing suggestions for Rudy. Rudy's mum has been so great at implementing everything including 'world watching' from the safety of the car and front garden, having lots of sniffs at perimeters and generally giving Rudy the confidence, time and space he needs. He was amazing with Harvey this week...massive progress thanks to #fearfreedogtraining #forcefreetraining #fearfreedogtraining Thankyou to everyone who came to the zoom and offered such great suggestions. These case study evenings are such a wonderful and supportive way to help each other xx
Rudy is reactive to other dogs because he is terrified. After 3 training sessions with other dogs at a safe distance across a field he was able to engage and disengage. Today I bought my dog Harvey. We started at a huge distance away. 30 minutes in Rudy was walking parallel about 5 feet away. He was brilliant. And all this took was gentle and FORCE FREE TRAINING. There is never any need to yank a dog around. This simply suppresses behaviour and creates more fear. I hate the term BALANCED training. This just means a trainer that inflicts pain when treats won't work. In my opinion BALANCED = AVERSIVE. Please when looking for a trainer avoid any that use the word BALANCED because it's not!! There are so many great trainers in the Surrey area that only use kindness such as Bone Canis .
Rudy is a super star and a great example of how kindness, distance and positive experiences all help dogs overcome their fears INTORescue

Beginning recall. Force Free and Fear Free.
Having just spent some time witnessing a trainer that uses choke collars, shouting commands and supressing behaviours in some very large dog breeds I decided to share my own methods for everyone to see and if necessary debate. I like to show I have nothing to hide as a behaviourist.
This is Harvey. I rescued him 4 years ago. He was 'reactive' to everyone. He was what this other trainer would have termed aggressive.
I began by giving Harvey all the SPACE he needed. Then I cuddled him, and put cuddling on cue with a positive word 'kisses'. Once he began volunteering to come to me when I said kisses, we proofed it in other rooms, then the garden and then in a large open space with few distractions.
In the beginning it's super helpful to wait until your dog looks at you, then just gently says 'kisses'. This is the stage I have shown in this video.
Given time and love, Harvey now has perfectly reliable recall when I feel I need to help control the environment for him and keep him safe. I hope you like the video. There will be many more to come from some amazing FORCE FREE, FEAR FREE EXPERTS in specific areas of training aimed towards rescue dogs who may be finding it hard to cope with previous trauma. Please continue to support INTORescue as we build, grow and EDUCATE why all creatures need love, kindness and patience. Thank you for being part of this amazing journey together
