Did you know your pet's teeth are as unique as their personality? Here are some fun facts about pet teeth:

1️⃣ Puppies and kittens get baby teeth too! 🐶🐱 Just like humans, puppies and kittens have baby teeth that fall out as they grow older. They usually start losing them around 3-6 months!

2️⃣ Dogs have 42 teeth! 😁 That's right! Adult dogs have a full set of 42 teeth – pretty impressive for those little chew machines!

3️⃣ Cats are masters of dental precision! 😼🐾 Cats have 30 teeth, and they're built for precision – their sharp, pointy teeth are perfect for catching and holding prey (even if it's just their favourite toy!).

4️⃣ Dental health = Better health! 🏥 Healthy teeth = healthy pets! Poor oral hygiene can lead to bad breath, gum disease, and even heart problems. Brush those teeth regularly (yes, it's possible)!

5️⃣ They're chew-tastic! 🦴 Chewing helps keep your pet's teeth clean and strong. Offer your dog or cat safe dental chews to help maintain their pearly whites!

Bonus Tip: Dental check-ups are a must for your pets' overall health.

🐾💖 Did you know our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) provide post-op checks to help your pet recover after surgery?

Our nurse clinics play an essential role in ensuring that your pet's healing process is smooth and comfortable. One key service we offer is Post-Op Checks, usually scheduled 2 and 10 days after surgery (unless otherwise specified). These checks ensure that your pet is recovering well and help identify any potential issues early on. 🐶🐱

During the check, our RVNs will...
✅ Examine the incision for signs of infection or discomfort
✅ Check your pet's temperature and general well-being
✅ Offer advice on diet, exercise, and medication.

If everything's going well, we'll guide you on how to keep your pet on track as they recover. If there's any concern, we'll consult with the vet to ensure the best care possible. 🩺

After your pet has been discharged, a post-op check-up can be scheduled. If you have any questions, please let us know.

🌷 As spring cleaning kicks into full gear, it's important to remember that while you're tidying up, your pets might be curious about what's going on around the house. 🐶🐱

Inquisitive dogs and curious cats can easily get into household items that could be harmful. Let's ensure your spring-cleaning efforts keep your home safe for everyone!

Here's a list of common household items to watch out for when cleaning around pets:

🔸 Household cleaning products: Bleach, oven cleaners, laundry detergents, drain cleaners, floor cleaners, and toilet cleaners can be toxic to pets if ingested or inhaled. Always read labels, ventilate areas well, and store products securely and out of reach.

🔸 Household cleaning products: Bleach, oven cleaners, laundry detergents, drain cleaners, floor cleaners, and toilet cleaners can be toxic to pets if ingested or inhaled. Always read labels, ventilate areas well, and store products securely out of reach.

🔸 Bleach: Can cause serious harm to pets if ingested, including vomiting, difficulty breathing, and burns. Always store it securely and clean up any spills promptly.

🔸 Fabric softener sheets: The chemicals and fragrances in these sheets can cause gastrointestinal issues, skin irritation, and poisoning. Keep them out of reach of your pets.

🔸 Air fresheners: Chemicals in air fresheners may irritate your pet's respiratory system. Opt for natural, non-toxic air fresheners.

🔸 Electrical wires and batteries: Pets can chew on cords, leading to potential electrocution. Keep wires out of reach and use protective covers. Batteries should also be stored safely, as they pose choking or poisoning risks.

🔸 Toys with small parts: Small parts can be a choking hazard. Choose sturdy, durable toys and inspect them regularly for damage.

🔸 Plastic Bags: Can suffocate or choke pets if ingested or tangled. Keep them stored safely away from pets.

🔸 Toxic plants: Some spring flowers, like lilies, daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths, can be toxic to pets. Be mindful of these plants, especially around cats.

🔸 Blind cords: Keep cords tied up and out of reach to prevent any risk of strangulation.

🔸 Candles: Candles pose a burn and fire risk. Never leave them unattended, and keep them out of pets' reach.

Spring cleaning doesn't have to be dangerous for your furry friends! With a little extra care, you can make sure that the season stays safe and enjoyable for both you and your pets.

Pet Protection = Happy Homes 🏡🐾💙

When your pet is protected with the right vaccinations, it's not just about their health – it's about creating a safe and happy environment for everyone at home! 🐶🐱💖 A healthy pet means fewer worries and more tail wags, purrs, and unconditional love, giving you the peace of mind that you're doing everything you can to keep them safe.

Vaccines protect more than just your pet - they protect your family and community, too! 🛡️ Certain infectious diseases, like leptospirosis in dogs and rabies in both dogs and cats, can be passed to humans. These zoonotic diseases can cause severe illness or even be life-threatening. By vaccinating your pets, you're not only keeping them safe, but you're also protecting everyone around you.

Let's keep our pets safe, our families healthy, and our homes full of joy and love! 🩺✨

👩‍⚕️ 👨‍⚕️ 😀 Smile, It's World Oral Health Day!

We all appreciate the importance of maintaining our pearly whites, and our pets need us to support them with this, too! Like human dentistry, pet dental examinations and treatment are about prevention and education, so you’ll be pleased to know that our veterinary nurses are on hand to support you!

🦷 Our veterinary nurses play a vital role in educating, advising and recommending preventative dental care, from how best to brush your pet’s teeth thoroughly all the way through to advising on a referral with one of our veterinary surgeons if required. Behind the scenes, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) can also carry out dental scale and polishes while patients are under general anaesthesia.
