When you hit the uncomfortable feeling, you’re right where you need to be. Enjoying ‘your’ moment is tough and damn right scary.
We really do need to listen to our dogs more, often if there are behavioural issues it’s our dogs trying to tell us something! #doghealth #dogpsychology #dogbehavior #dogpodcast #newpuppyparents
Honestly @lovezoflora have saved the day so many times 😅 #dogmumlife #dogpodcast #springcleanup
Dog training meets leg day!
Fawn and I are working on step-ups
not just as a fitness move but as a fun training exercise that builds confidence, coordination, and engagement
We started with a simple lure to get her front paws on the step
then progressed to a sit for better control
Once she got the hang of it, I removed the lure and gave the verbal cue
The final step? Getting Fawn to fully step up and down with me, creating a workout we can both benefit from!
Training like this isn’t just about obedience and fitness
it strengthens trust, focus, and teamwork

Teaching your puppy their name is one of the first steps to building a strong bond with them
Step 1: Call their name in an excited tone
Step 2: When they come into your reinforcement zone (imagine a big hula hoop around you), mark with a “Yes!” and reward with a treat
Your reinforcement zone is where the magic happens
it’s the place your puppy learns that being near you means all the good things
This simple exercise will lay the foundation for a reliable recall in the future

Did you know that your dog’s gut health plays a massive role in their behaviour?
The gut is often called the “second brain” because it’s directly connected to your dog’s mood, energy levels, and focus
A poor diet—especially treats with hidden ingredients like sugars, fillers, and artificial additives—can disrupt their gut balance
Hyperactivity: Additives and sugars can spike energy levels, making it harder for your dog to focus during training
Irritability: An upset gut can affect hormone regulation, leaving your dog feeling more stressed or anxious
Lethargy: Low-quality food can lack the nutrients your dog needs to stay alert and engaged
When looking at treats and food, don’t be fooled by “real meat” claims on the packaging
Many of these products include only small amounts of meat and bulk up with low-quality fillers
Switching to a natural, nutrient-rich diet can help improve your dog’s behaviour, focus, and overall happiness

Here’s to the highs, lows and the lessons that come with embracing imperfection.
2024 wasn’t picture-perfect—it was full of bumps, pivots, and unexpected challenges.
But if I’ve learned one thing, it’s that when you let go of what’s not serving you, you make space for what’s truly meant for you.
My highlight reel isn’t just about the wins. It’s about the growth, the struggles, and the real moments that shaped me as a dog trainer and business owner.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s embrace the beautifully imperfect moments in 2025!

As much as we love including our dogs in the festive fun, some Christmas foods can be harmful to them. Here’s what we recommend to watch out for:
Gravy: High in fat and salt, which can upset their stomach or cause pancreatitis.
Stuffing: Often contains onions, garlic, and herbs that are toxic to dogs.
Nutmeg: This spice can lead to sickness, increased heart rate, and even seizures.
Macadamia Nuts: Even a small amount can cause vomiting, weakness, and tremors.
Mince Pies & Christmas Pudding: Full of raisins, sultanas, and sometimes alcohol—all highly dangerous for dogs.
If you’re unsure about what’s safe, stick to treats specifically made for dogs. It’s better to be cautious than risk a trip to the vet over Christmas. `stick to what you know!
