Some rabbit fact to consider before you getting a new rabbit just because you look at some instagram or Facebook reels and think they are super cute and you want some too:
1. Rabbit chews! They find any opportunity to chew whatever they can. You might find your wall got chewed, maybe your flooring, your couch, your furniture.
2. Rabbit does p*e and poo everywhere, however, they are very smart! You can train them to use litter try, but you need to spend time training them, they can’t train themselves
3. Rabbit does get bored, you need to prepare to either find them another rabbit friend, spend extra time with them and buy them toys. Different treats
4. Rabbit is not a beginning pet/Toy, they required time, energy, money and some rabbit live up to 13-14 years of life. You need to be able to committed this long. It’s not a good idea to get a rabbit to “train” your kid’s responsibility. It will end up become yours
5. Rabbit required weekly/monthly nail trim, brushes, rabbit nail will never stop growing, so you will need to help them to trim the nail so they don’t get sorehock. Every session (winter and summer) they shed! So you need to brush them regularly so they don’t eat too much of their fur
6. Rabbit is very fragile! You need to know your bunny and keep close eyes on him/her! If any behaviour changes need to go to get asap, as this could kill him/her! If the bunny did not eat and drink for more than 12 hrs, he might get what we call gut stasis! This need immediate vet visits!
7. Rabbit’s teeth never stop growing! So hay is a must in their diet! In fact is the most important part of their diet! They should have unlimited hay throughout the day. Some natural wooden toy also good for them to chew and grin down their teeth.
Please, take rabbit seriously! They are not a toy, they are a life just like cat and dog! They are nothing different to them. Beside they are more fragile than cat and dog!
