Genetics genetics genetics!!🧬

A lot of a dogs behaviour habits/traits come from their breeding.

For example, here is my pup Gryff doing what he was bred to do! Stalking (pointing) out birds.

I have not taught him this, it comes fully natural to the breed, and I love watching him do it😁

The size difference between a 10kg dog and I would say probably a good 65kg dog!😄

And Dexter (rottie) is the softest out of them both, he’s the sweetest🤎

Ban the sale and possession of fireworks to the general public unless they're silent. The public are able to buy and use fireworks from October through to new year. This is unfair to those who suffer from the loud noise.

CHEWING😋

Allowing a dog too chew dog friendly chews are so beneficial…

Here is Amber & Elsie enjoying a chew each earlier this week, as it was too warm to take them out on their usual walk🐶

BENEFITS OF CHEWING:
🦴Reduces stress
🦴Reduces frustration
🦴Its an activity that naturally calms your dog
🦴Builds independence
🦴A good activity to provide your dog on days like today, when it’s too warm during the day for them too go out

☀️OVER HEATING AWARENESS IN DOGS☀️

(Note: the pic of Hudson below in no way is he over heating, he is just modelling for me for this post😆)

SIGNS OF OVER HEATING:
⭐️bright red tongue, gums and ears (ears are hot too touch)
⭐️excessive panting
⭐️a dog who usually does a lot of sniffing in general, you may realise their sniffing is extremely reduced.
⭐️seeking constant shade

HOW TO PREVENT OVERHEATING:
💧access to water at all times
💧walks should be provided early mornings and late evenings
💧reduce strenuous exercise during the day (ie. Playing fetch, taking them on long walks where there is no potential shade).

As much as we’d love to take our dogs on a lovely long walk when the weather is what it is going to be like this week, your pups will thank you for not taking them!☀️🐶

Hudson in his brand new collar, matching with the dandelions🌻

⭐️Did you know?⭐️
20 minutes of active sniffing is equivalent to a 1 hour walk!

Not only is sniffing/searching for food very mentally tiring, it also helps with dogs who easily become over aroused or lacks confidence in different environments.🍃

Here is Hudson, earlier this week we went for a walk on a field and there were dogs in the distance chasing after a ball, constantly back and forth. Hudson was so interested in these dogs because he wanted to play!
However, because Hudson was on lead, he was getting frustrated with the restriction of not being able to go say ‘hello’ to the dogs running around.🐶

This is where the video comes in, I decided to encourage a sniffy game with some of his high value treats. The start of the video you can see he is facing away from the treats as he was still watching the dogs running around, but as soon as I said his release command, he was straight in and focussed on something new and a lot more positive.😊

He’s such a good boy!☺️
