Sussex Artist's Stunning Wildlife Drawings Captivate Knockhatch Keepers

Local Sussex artist Donna Howland has amazed keepers at Knockhatch Adventure Park with her incredibly detailed drawings of owls, prairie dogs and lemurs. The incredibly lifelike portraits, based on photographs taken by Donna's husband Eddie, were so realistic that Eddie's colleagues initially believed them to be computer generated!

“They were absolutely convinced they were fake,” Donna laughs. “In the end, I had to show them a photo of me actually drawing to prove it!”

Donna uses pastels and pencils to create her captivating works, working from high-resolution photographs to capture every detail of her subjects. The meticulous attention to detail has resulted in stunning portraits that seem to bring the animals to life on the page.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that my work has been so well received,” says Donna. “I’ve always loved animals, and I’m passionate about capturing their unique characters and expressions in my drawings.”

The good news for Sussex residents is that Donna’s incredible drawings are set to go on display at Knockhatch Adventure Park very soon. Visitors will be able to see the artwork up close and marvel at the artist’s talent.

“We’re delighted to be showcasing Donna’s work at Knockhatch,” says a spokesperson for the park. “Her drawings are truly exceptional, and we’re sure they’ll be a hit with our visitors.”

The exact date for the exhibition is yet to be confirmed, but Knockhatch has assured visitors that they will be kept up-to-date via their social media channels. In the meantime, art lovers can catch a glimpse of Donna’s work on her website at donnahowlandart.com.

For pre-school and the younger home educated children (2-8 years) and their supporting adult. 🧒👶👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Come and join us on a Tuesday morning in the Knockhatch Woodland for lots of Forest School fun! 🌲🎨🏞️

We have created a beautiful Forest School area with a fire and shelter, mud kitchen and lots of wonderful woodland activities to keep you and your little ones busy. There will be opportunities to take part in activities such as den building, woodland crafts, using tools such as saws and hammers, obstacle courses, cooking on the fire, going on woodland walks, playing games, sharing stories around the fire and having lots of woodland fun! 🪵🔥🛠️

Our Forest School sessions take place whatever the weather, providing it is safe to do so. We have a shelter and fire to keep you warm and dry, but we also love playing in the rain, splashing in puddles and getting changed into warm, dry clothes afterwards. 🌧️☔🔥

Expect to get wet and muddy, but also expect to have a lot of fun, make new friends, laugh and learn new things in the great outdoors! 🤗🌿🎉

Our animals will receive water from our reserves.

Day Tickets will be refunded.

Due to a burst water main, we, like the rest of Hailsham are without water 🌊 This means no running water, no flushing toilets and definitely no splash pad and flumes. So, we had to close 😥 Hopefully, water will be restored soon 🤞 We missed you all today 💕
