This weather is wrecking havoc with horses feet.
Wet dry wet dry is really not a good mix. Even horses with good feet are breaking up
Few things to help
- reduce trimming / shoeing cycles
- reduce turn out
- use hoof oil
- foot supplement / balancer
- fly rug/ fly spray ( horses stamp their feet to get the flies off )
- any concerns contact your farrier

This wonky horse had a medial deviation from the fetlock. Making the outside of the foot contract and the inside to flare. A symmetrical shoe was applied to create a balanced platform for the horse to work from.

Same foot different approach. I think it’s important that the toe of the shoe is the same shape as the foot. Creates a much stronger hoof.

Sometimes you just have to listen to what they are saying

This horse has worn his shoe towards the outside toe
So the new shoe has replicated the wear pattern.

🌟 Customer review 🌟

“Two of my horses have been barefooted for the last 4 years, another is transitioning from being shod to bare foot. Where the yard is, we ride mostly on the roads, therefore any hoof growth was soon worn down. During one of the trims, Stephen and I talked about hoof boots, and he explained the advantages of using them and sized all 3 horses with the appropriate make, model, and size. I ordered them from the Hoof boot shop with the 10% discount code, provided by Stephen. The boots came and were easy to fit and the horses all soon became accustomed to them.
This was a couple of months ago and my horses have been wearing them on every road ride. They have done what Stephen advised, they have worked with the natural hoof, and the horses finally have some hoof growth, they have protected their soles from uneven surfaces, helping the one transition to barefoot. My older arthritic horse has been feeling more comfortable on rides, reducing reduced the trauma to the sole and concussion travelling up his legs. I would highly recommend Britten Farriery and asking Stephen and his team to advise and fit hoof boots.“

Vincent is now a happier horse 🐴 💪🏻

It has always been a battle with his thin soles, low heels weak walls and never grows any foot.

So we have tried some new 3D printed shoes on him to give additional caudal support and remove the need for nails in already weak and brittle feet.

Happier and comfier ☺️
