Sadly little Hope hasn’t made it. Mum was feeding her and taking care of her and they were being monitored closely. She clearly wasn’t viable and not meant for this world.

The mortality rate of kittens born to strays mums is 75%!!! That’s insane odds. These babies just do not stand a chance!

Neuter your cats, please. We are begging you! Cats don’t need to have just 1 litter, it’s not their natural right to have babies.
Mums are pinned down brutally by males, mated by one whilst others are trying to fight them off, the winner then mates her, then another and another and another. It’s brutal and relentless for the poor Mom. She does not want to be mated, she does not want to have babies and certainly doesn’t need to. Most cats are terrible Moms and can’t stand their babies past about 3 weeks old! She gets bitten and ragged around during mating, can contract fiv/felv, that then gets passed to the babies. Often these moms are young, not vaccinated or constantly popping babies out, mom is not healthy, the babies are not healthy. They are born to suffer, struggle and die.

This is horrific, this is the brutal reality of ignorant or selfish humans! This needs to STOP NOW!

Now little one is warmed up and had 24hrs of bottle feeds, she is much more active so we have sneakily placed her in with Mom and siblings this morning. Initial signs are looking promising and they will be closely monitored throughout today with bottles on hand if needed 🤞🤞🤞

Lottie has given birth to 5 babies this morning, being a fab Mum to 4 of them but ignoring this little one. As always, i’ll do what I can to save her but as we all know, there us usually a reason why Mum’s reject certain babies 💔

Just to clarify, this poor baby was suffering and dying regardless of what was tried to save her. She had obviously been hit by a car and then been attacked by a fox or dog.

Her injuries were-

Head trauma (bleeding from her ears)
Broken jaw
Multiple deep puncture wounds, one exposing her skull
Bleeding from her mouth
Barely conscious when I got to her

We discussed ct scanning her but agreed we didn’t think she would even make the journey to hospital where the scanner is.

Wild animals do not do well in captivity, they get incredibly stressed by any human contact. This itself can kill them.

When dealing with any animal, but particularly wildlife, you have to weigh up quality of life and ethics. Is it fair to try to save her when she was very sick and to put her through stressful, intensive treatment to then have nowhere to put her as she cannot be released and would never again be able to live a normal life due to injuries sustained.

Putting any animal to sleep is NEVER EVER taken lightly but is a decision made in the best interests of the animal.

Something new for me today.
A teeny baby muntjac found struggling at the side of the road. Unfortunately, she had a broken jaw, multiple puncture wounds and as an invasive species, it is illegal for her to be released, therefore posing ethical issues to putting her through treatment. She was already shutting down also. So the lovely vets helped her over rainbow bridge. It’s always sad to lose any animal but this was super hard, such a baby and a beautiful wild animal, but at least she isn’t slowly dying and suffering at the side of the road.

Emergency intake

Welcome Lottie
Only around 8-10months old and heavily pregnant!
A kind lady saw her being brutally got at by 5 toms cats at once (despite already being heavily pregnant) so brought her inside to keep her safe.
Her original ‘owner’ allegedly threw her out after she scratched them. Not sure how true this is because she is the most loving and needy cat I think I’ve ever met.
Safe now gorgeous girl and no more babies after these 🙏
