Pet-friendly Garden 🌻
Creating a pet-friendly garden starts with choosing safe plants and shrubs. Watch out for potential hazards like loose stones, gravel, and areas of dry soil. When using lawn care products such as fertilisers, always read the instructions and wait until it’s safe before allowing pets back into the garden.

If you store products like slug pellets, antifreeze or herbicides in your shed, ensure it’s securely locked. As a general rule, when looking for pet-safe w**d killer, keep clear of these ingredients:

⚠️ Disulfoton
⚠️ Sodium Arsenite
⚠️ Metaldehyde
⚠️ Ammonium Sulfamate
⚠️ Borax

Most reputable dog-friendly w**d killers are clearly advertised, and your vet can advise if you’re in doubt.

Happy Hamster Day 🐹
April 12th is dedicated to these cute little rodents who are among the favourite pets in the UK!

Hamsters are very popular pets. They come in a wide variety of colours, shapes, sizes and personalities. There are 5 common types of hamster, 3 of which are classed as ‘dwarf’ hamsters.

Syrian hamsters
• Size: 15-17cm
• Lifespan: 2-3 years

Chinese hamsters
• Size: 10cm
• Lifespan: 2-3 years
The 3 types of dwarf hamsters

Campbell’s
• Size: 10cm
• Lifespan: 1.5-2 years

Winter White
• Size: 8-10cm
• Lifespan: 1.5-2 years

Roborovski
• Size: 5cm
• Lifespan: 3-3.5 years

Daffodils, the facts 🌼

Daffodils are toxic to dogs and cats, and you should be careful if you have them growing on your lawn or if you’re walking your dog through a field that’s full of them. Daffodils contain small crystals that can cause severe tissue irritation.

Symptoms of daffodil poisoning include:
Nausea
Drooling
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Increased heart rate
Abnormal breathing
Abdominal pain

If you think your pet may have been in contact with daffodils or is showing any of these symptoms, contact your local vet ASAP.
