With just a week left to go before I retire and hand the reigns over to the very talented Jordan (who most of you have now met) I just wanted to thank you all for trusting me with your most precious dogs over the last few years.

Going self employed and setting up the business was a massive career / lifetime change for me and it’s been an amazing time I have learnt so much and really thrived on the challenge

Even through the difficult times of COVID (for everyone) you helped me grow the business to what it is today. I want to take this opportunity to thank all my friends, family, owners and most importantly your dogs for making this a very happy time in my life

We have recently been seeing an increase in the number of dogs coming to us with gastroenteritis.

🐾This has affected some dogs which have shown some or all, of the following signs: vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced appetite, lethargy.

🐾The majority of dogs have recovered well with symptomatic treatment, a small proportion of severe cases may require intravenous fluids and hospitalisation.

🐾The condition appears to be very contagious between dogs, it is therefore advised to keep affected dogs away from healthy dogs to prevent spread. There is no evidence that people should avoid walking their dogs if they are fit and well.

🐾If you are concerned your pet may be unwell then please contact your vet for advice.

24 hours notice of cancellation of an appointment is required

If no notice given then a £25 charge will be payable

HEATSTROKE IN DOGS - ADVICE
Just a quick message to all those dog owners out there - keep your dogs cool during the next few days (longer if summer has finally arrived) - HEATSTROKE KILLS!!!!
Remember - walk early morning or late evening
Remember - be conscious of hot surfaces and pavements - will burn pads
Remember - do not spray with hose unless checked the temperature of the water in the hose - it can heat up to boiling point and will scald the dog
Remember - do not spray very cold water onto a boiling dog as it will cause an adverse reaction - cool slowly and carefully. - Place a cold wet towel to the belly and tummy underneath area this will cool the dog slowly and be effective.
Remember - if your dog is over heating - place an icepack that is covered by a tea towel (a barrier) or similar into the groin area where the pulse is - this will cool the dog down slowly. DO NOT place uncovered icepack in the groin as too cold and can be dangerous - always cover the icepack with a barrier.
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR DOGS IN HOT CARS - especially when driving long distances and the dog is in the boot and you cant see the heatstroke occurring. The dog could be sitting in direct sunlight and therefore will cook.

Happy New Year everyone and what a start it has been
The updated procedures following this latest lockdown have been announced and we are permitted to carry on grooming for animal welfare
I will message all customers 24-48 hours before the appointment to advice/remind of the handover procedure and check the welfare of the household.
If anyone is not comfortable making the appointment that is absolutely fine and we can rearrange for a later date

On a lighter note the long awaited return of the ostrich treats, after being out of stock since May the supplier has finally managed to obtain some. Whilst not the entire range I have managed to get a good selection
