Donaldson's Vets

Donaldson's Vets It is a Tier 2 RCVS accredited practice ensuring our facilities and staff training are up to modern standards. If this is an issue please get in touch.

The practice was established in 1985 by Chris and Eleanor Dale with the aim of providing high quality veterinary treatment for domestic pets within a personal and caring environment. This is a voluntary quality assurance scheme, involving a rigorous inspection of the practice carried out by a veterinary inspector appointed by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. We care deeply about our patie

nts, and are committed to ensuring they receive the treatment and attention we would expect our own pets to receive. We also offer a speedy and efficient referral service for colleagues dealing with problem skin cases. Facilities are available for the investigation and treatment of all types of skin disease including intradermal skin testing. A full written history, or a copy of the clinical notes, is required as are all relevant laboratory reports. Ideally treatment should be withdrawn at least 7 days before the first appointment. Referring veterinary surgeons are sent a prompt written report after each examination.

These lovely furry friends learned so much, tackled new obstacles with confidence, and showed some brilliant focus along the way ⭐💯⭐
From balancing and climbing to jumping, problem-solving, and excellent paw work, the dogs had heaps of fun while building confidence and strengthening their bond with their humans 🐾💕

We’re so proud of what they’ve achieved 👏🐶🥰 Well done everyone, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did 🥰

🐾 Lyme Disease Identified Locally – Protect Your Pet 🐾

Our sister company at (YIR) -leaders in orthopaedic care—has recently identified and diagnosed two cases of Lyme disease contracted from the following areas:

📍 Elland
📍 Wyke

Lyme disease is spread by ticks and can cause serious health issues in dogs and humans.
⚠️ Signs of Lyme disease in dogs may include:
• Lameness or limping
• Swollen joints
• Lethargy
• Fever
• Loss of appetite

How do dogs pick up ticks?🐶🐾

Ticks do not jump or fly. They transfer by direct contact and can commonly be found in the following areas:
• 🌿 Woodlands and forests – especially along paths and at the edge of wooded areas.
• 🌾 Tall grass and meadows – ticks often wait on grass tips to latch onto passing animals or humans.
• 🌳 Shrubs and bushes – particularly around the lower branches.
• 🍂 Leaf litter and undergrowth – ticks like shady, humid spots to avoid drying out.
• 🏡 Gardens and parks – especially if there’s long grass, piles of leaves, or wildlife like deer, foxes, or rodents.

🕷️ Prevention is key.
Regular flea and tick treatment is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of tick bites and Lyme disease. Our team at Donaldson’s Vets can advise on the most suitable and effective options to keep your pets protected. Treatments can be purchased directly from us, giving you peace of mind that your pet is fully protected all year round

If you have any concerns about ticks or Lyme disease, please don’t hesitate to get in touch on 01484 421512
