Donaldson's Vets

Donaldson's Vets It is a Tier 2 RCVS accredited practice ensuring our facilities and staff training are up to modern standards. If this is an issue please get in touch.

The practice was established in 1985 by Chris and Eleanor Dale with the aim of providing high quality veterinary treatment for domestic pets within a personal and caring environment. This is a voluntary quality assurance scheme, involving a rigorous inspection of the practice carried out by a veterinary inspector appointed by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. We care deeply about our patie

nts, and are committed to ensuring they receive the treatment and attention we would expect our own pets to receive. We also offer a speedy and efficient referral service for colleagues dealing with problem skin cases. Facilities are available for the investigation and treatment of all types of skin disease including intradermal skin testing. A full written history, or a copy of the clinical notes, is required as are all relevant laboratory reports. Ideally treatment should be withdrawn at least 7 days before the first appointment. Referring veterinary surgeons are sent a prompt written report after each examination.

World Heart Day ❀❀❀❀aims to inspire you to embrace lifestyle changes that promote a healthier and more active way of living.
To embark on a journey towards a healthier lifestyle, begin by adding more physical activity into your daily routine. Consider taking small yet impactful steps, such as walking your pet to their next appointment. This simple act not only benefits your furry friend but also enhances your own well-being, making it a win-win for both of you.
Remember, even small adjustments like these can accumulate over time and lead to significant improvements in your overall health for both you and your pet

Dry eye affects approximately 1 in 22 dogs in the UK.

Certain breeds are more susceptibleβ€”does your dog belong to one of them?

The following breeds are particularly at risk:
- Pug
-Lhasa Apso
- English Bulldog
- West Highland White Terrier
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- English Cocker Spaniel
- English Springer Spaniel
- Miniature Schnauzer
- Toy Poodle
- Pekingese
- Shih Tzu

It's important to note that dry eye can affect any breed of dog, not just those listed above.

For breeds that are more prone to this condition, it's advisable to have your dog's eyes checked by a vet once or twice a year.

The earlier dry eye is diagnosed, the easier it is to manage successfully.

πŸ‘€πŸ‘€PET EYE HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 15-21st SEPTEMBERπŸ‘€πŸ‘€

This important week encourages pet owners and veterinary professionals to be alert for signs of eye issues, such as runny or sticky eyes, squinting, light sensitivity, and changes in vision.

Due to their exaggerated facial features, pets suffer from eye problems more readily than other breeds. Recognising symptoms of poor eye health is important in any pet; eye tests can signal underlying health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure.
