🔥🧡 Beryl 🧡🔥

Our lovely Beryl who we lightly backed last year has come back to find a lovely new 🏡

4yr old
Full TB Wetherby’s passport
Chestnut mare
15.2hh
Sure: Proclamation (European Champion Miler in 2005)

Due to the owners loss of land she is no longer looking to go into racing training. She was sent for me to professionally back early last year (May 2021) and was easy to do. We just got her used to tack and acceptance of a rider in walk and trot 👍

She is a lovely mare with stunning uphill, flashy paces and a big stride for her size. She’s a sweet temperament and always wants to please. She is a quick learner, likes attention and quick to work new things out. These pictures are her first ever time seeing poles / jumps and her willingness and bold attitude towards them was stunning 💪🏻

Beryl would make an excellent all rounder as she would excel in all disciplines. She has the blood for Eventing with great paces for dressage 😍 with a brave and bold attitude to a jump 👌

She’s been turned away in the field since last May and we are now restarting her and are back on board and she’s been a diamond 💎

Please contact Alanna for further info on the ☎️ number below or PM

This gorgeous 3yr old Filly is available to someone looking for a new and exciting prospect for the future 😍

Sire: WOODLANDER WILD CHILD (WaVaVoom x Woodlander Farouche)
Dam: by Havidoff (KWPN)

Leda’s stunning breeding speaks for itself with Woodlander Wild Child and Farouche’s breeding including the formidable dressage superstars Weltmeyer / Furst Heinrich / DiMaggio / Florestan I 😍

She was bred by the current owner and born 6.6.2019 and has been well handled, is very easy to do and has been a pleasure to have around. She is now ready to move on and fulfil someone’s dressage dreams 🥰

She has 3 fabulous paces, her trot and canter are to die for with a huge overtracking walk.

As you can see from the below photos, she has a low pastern on her right hind. She is only young and this should improve and strengthen in time but it is there and needs declaring at the very beginning to be totally upfront and honest.

Leda is open to any viewings and vettings and her diagnosis above is reflected in her price. She is a quality filly who would be substantially priced if she was perfectly conformed. 👍

‼️ However Please read carefully ‼️

She has been diagnosed with a very mild heart murmur by the vets, the mildest form possible. It will not affect her career or work but will always be there. Also, as you can see 👀 from the below 👇🏻 photos, she has a dropped pastern on her right hind. She is only young and this may well improve and strengthen in time but it is there and needs declaring at the very beginning to be totally upfront and honest.

Yesterday I had a busy day over at the fantastic Aintree Equestrian Centre for some BD competition.

Dino decided to throw a few extra moves into his tests, especially in his novice 🙈 but he managed a strong 2nd 🥈 place overall in the Prelim with +70% followed by an average +62% in his Novice but I only entered the Novice so I didn’t have to get out of bed too early 🤣🤣 he wasn’t really ready for the level but it’s all experience anyway! 🤷‍♀️

Then I also got the chance to compete my livery Sarah Antemes lovely Dressage Diva Derek in the Elementary where we smashed another 2nd 🥈with +63% even though I’ve only had one schooling session on him quickly on Monday in a last minute change of plans and me taking over the ride. My hip flexors haven’t been “Derek’d” in over a year 🙈🤣🙈🤣

To be able to get out and still compete means little Jakey has to come out for the ride in the lorry which is handy as I can load him up the ramp 😃 so it’s easy enough. And my times i between tests gave me chance to treat him with Pulse Electro Magnetic Therapy whilst on the road so he doesn’t miss out on his physio work. 💪🏻🐶🐾

🧡🧡 Ginger Joey 🧡🧡

After a couple of weeks of quiet time since having a silly fall in the arena at home, I took the best ginger boy Joey out to another fantastic 4 day show over at Northcote Stud

Having not been out for a few weeks we took it nice and easy in the Newcomers classes, picking up a pole here and there but his jumping was outstanding 😍

As Joey has matured he’s become much more able to cope with the competition environment and is now more manageable, specifically in the warm up arena. I didn’t used to be able to do much in there at all but now he can confidently warm up with the other horses 🤞🏻

He’s also really going through a stage of progression in his canter work which is getting stronger every week, which then means I’m riding a totally different horse to a fence… which makes it hard to find a good rhythm and stride. The poles he had down were entirely my fault 🤦‍♀️ as I got too close and didn’t allow enough room for his front end to get out of the way 🙈

Fabulous education for him over tough, technical tracks from Mark McGowan the course builder and these rounds will make normal show rounds feel easy! 🤣

You can also rely on Majestic Photography’s Shelley to catch your “game face” 🤨 before you start your round…. Whilst you pony just looks beautiful at the camera!! 🥰

🧡💛 British Breeding Futurity 2021 💛🧡

This beautiful 3yr old baby boy Leo has been on his first big trip out in the truck today over to Richmond EC for the British breeding Futurity headings.

Leo is by the wonderful dressage stallion Woodlander Double Bubble (Don Fredric / Rousseau lines) out of a Danny Kannan mare so has fabulous dressage and jumping breeding lines 😍

He’s been with us for the last few weeks to be very lightly backed before being turned away until next year

He’s been an absolute pleasure from start to finish and today his impeccable behaviour from start to finish showed what a trainable talent he has.

The judges scored him a whopping 8.5 overall and he took Gold 🥇🏆 standard with the gradings. 👍

The orange boy came home with the Gold!

Remember the second racehorse we took on to break after breaking her sister before going to racing training…?

Well she never had a name so we called her Feral Beryl 🤣🤣 however she turned out to be not very feral at all! I think it was all the time spent picking the 🐮💩 off her! 😆😆

She went home to go out on the grass for the summer a few weeks ago but I never had the chance to post the pics of her. She was really easy to break and has the most stunning movement in her trot! 😍

I will make sure to follow her racing career once it starts next year 🐎🐎

🔥 Back to the day job….Showjumping! 🔥

Yesterday we took Ginger Joey and Charlie Maloney Wood’s new boy Smarty over to the wonderful AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE for some BS jumping.

Joey just loves that arena and jumped 2 fab double clears and picked up some prize money 💪🏻💰😀 Smarty and Charlie jumped 2 lovely rounds for his first time in such a big atmosphere with just an unlucky pole in each class. But some great experience for this new combination and Smarty makes it look very easy! 😍

Massive well done to the Aintree team for running such a safe show in these difficult Covid Times 🙄 one day it will be over! 🦠

Lovely little trip out this morning with Katie Corteen, Helen and Charlie at Gisburn Park Gallops. Fitness training for the eventers and a general play for Smarty and Dino to get them galloping up hills 💪🏻

Lovely to see the wildlife mooching around us too! 🦌🦚

We will be making regular trips up here now to give the horses a change of scenery and a different kind of work out 🥰

Last weekend we took a yard trip out to Shaw Farm Equestrian for their super dressage series. 5 riders 5 horses, some were getting in practice for preparing for other dressage Champs, some were first time ever competitors!

I took my youngster Dino out for a spin to get used to others in the warm up and more test practice before Original Equestrian ‘s Carnival of Dressage next month at AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE.

All in all a great day out and we even came home with some rosettes which is always a bonus 💪🏻

Lovely afternoon out today with Charlie Moloney Wood and Helen Hird. We went for a showjumping lesson each with Will Whitaker and all our ponies jumped their socks off! 😍

Joey was his usual hot self and thought the wall might bite him, Smarty excelled himself for Charlie and Barney just isn’t fazed by anything jumping a wet water for the first time 💪🏻

Training is the best way to iron out any small issues that make big improvements 👍

Good day out today at Northcote Stud with Ginger Joey. Popped him round the Bronze Tour Grand Prix. He jumped a super clear but some time faults let me down. I knew the time was tight but opted for a good round instead of pushing for the time 🙈

He’s only just getting back into the swing of competing and there’s no rush for this lad 🥰 he felt on fire today 🔥

Thanks to Majestic Photography for the lovely pics.

💥Showjumping Clinic with Alanna Pilling 💥

Due to increasing demand for lessons I have teamed up with Esther Horsfall at Shaw Farm Equestrian to hold some Showjumping Clinics in her lovely indoor arena.

All levels of rider and horse catered for from pole work / cross poles up to regular BS riders out competing on a regular basis.

Having competed Internationally as a Young Rider for Great Britain up to 1.40m Grand Prix level on horses produced herself Alanna can assist with all issues in the jumping arena.

As shows are now all starting up again let’s get ready for the summer season! 🌞💪🏻

The first date is Sunday 30th May and lessons are private or semi private.

Private - 45 mins - £40
Semi Private - 1hour - £30 per rider

Finally..... back out doing what we love!! Ginger Joey made his first showjumping of the year look easy and he felt mega 🥰 He’s really grown up and matured this winter and is feeling so good.

He’s only done a handful of shows when I look back and I think I should have dropped down a level to the 1m classes this weekend 🤦‍♀️ that said he had a lovely Double clear day one and then unlucky poles day 2 coz the rider was VERY rusty 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Best get some lessons booked to sort me out 🙈

Great jumping festival put on by Northcote Stud, run to perfection. Let’s hope we never ever go back to pre covid warm up times. It’s amazing having it pre entry, drawn order and times given. The one good thing to come out of Covid 🦠 Every cloud and all that! 👍

And here she is! The next racehorse for breaking 🥰🐎🥰

This little lady is half sister to Daisy with the same Sire but different mother. She’s not just as tall as Daisy but she’s a year younger with still plenty of growing to do.

She’s here to learn some handling skills and some desensitising work before gently backing her before she’s turned away for the summer back home 👌

First job.... remove the 🐮💩!!

🐮Remember the chestnut mare who thought she was a cow? 🐮

Well Daisy as we called her 🙈 has come on leaps and bounds and today went to a good friend of mine to continue her education 💪🏻

My remit was to get her backed and riding away with start and stop and some steering sorted. She’s been particularly fussy in accepting the contact which hasn’t been easy but we got there in the end 👌

She’s turned into a lovely little mare with the sweetest temperament. She’s filled out, muscled up and got some fitness in her now 💪🏻

Her owner has moved her onto a family friend to keep her ticking over for a couple of months before going back home to be turned away for the summer and then she will be put into racing training. I cannot wait to follow her racing career! 🐎🐎

Although she left today, she has been replaced by her younger sister, another Chestnut Mare.... 🤣🤣

🌞🌞Jumps and Poles in the Sunshine! 🌞🌞

This weekend here at Blackshaw Royd we made the most of the beautiful dry and sunny weather and held an in house yard jump / pole work clinic for some of our lovely liveries 👍

All 1-2-1 sessions were tailor made for each horse and rider to work on any individual needs. For example resident Alan is currently working on rehabilitation work for a mild case of impinging spinous processes (kissing spines) and as an ex racehorse he has worked in a way that will not assist this pathology. His owner has worked really hard on the ground work involved but now we are working on increasing core strength under saddle whilst keeping him relaxed 💪🏻 The poles really took his mind off the rider’s weight over his back.

All the horses and riders really enjoyed themselves doing something a little different in the school to normal work. The dressage horses enjoyed leaving the ground by jumping the poles! 🤣

🧡🧡 New Year New Challenge 🧡🧡

And who doesn’t love a full Thoroughbred Chestnut Mare!! 😬🙈😬

This feral munchkin is owned by a chap who keeps cows 🐮 hence the 🐮💩 all over her. He runs the young stock with the cows and when they are ready, sends them to me totally feral... and I mean feral. 🤣 Some may think that’s crazy but I love it this way! There’s nothing worse than a spoilt youngster to try and break 🤷‍♀️ so the feral ones are always easier. They can take longer, this lady couldn’t even lead or pick her feet up or anything... but they always excel once they know what’s required of them. 👌

Her owner loves his racing 🐎 and breeds his own racehorses and this little lady will be going into racing training later this year as a 4yr old chaser. Her mum won some chases before she had to retire due to injury and her Sire is a well bred boy so her breeding sets her in good stead. 🤞🏻She’s already started jumping by jumping out over her stable door 🙈🙈🙈

My job is to break her in, get her riding away, sort some control and steering, get her into some fitness regime and teach her to carry herself to make it easier for the racing trainers when they start her.

We are sat on and working her up and down the aisle inside at the moment. She has the most stunning 🤩 paces so we can’t wait to see what she has to offer under saddle 🥰

She’s one I will keep an eye on 👀 when she starts racing. She’s a lovely temperament and a quick learner so think she’ll make it as a hurdler 🧡🧡
