Training Steps:

* Get Your Pup's Attention: Hold a treat in a closed fist near your dog's nose and say the word "paw" (or your chosen cue word) in a happy tone.

* Lure with the Treat: Slowly move your closed fist with the treat down towards the floor, between their front paws. Their natural instinct will be to follow the treat, potentially placing a paw on your hand.

* Mark and Reward: The moment their paw touches your hand, click the clicker (if using) or say a marker word like "yes!" Immediately give them the treat and lots of praise.

* Repeat and Refine: Practice this sequence multiple times in short sessions (3-5 minutes) throughout the day. Be patient, as some puppies learn faster than others.

Tips for Success:

* Positive Reinforcement: Use happy tones, praise, and treats to make training fun and rewarding.
* Be Consistent: Use the same word ("paw") and hand gesture (moving the treat downwards) every single time.
