Yesterday proved to be a busy mad one! Milo the dachshund came for daycare and Cheese forgot her advanced age and chased him round and round the dining room. Both had a wonderful time, but the noise was quite something. Maisie had her usual fascination with Rocky’s ears so he sought sanctuary under my desk while the overnighters Cola & Poppy settled on opposite ends of the settee and just observed. Not much chance for photos! However, later on, Philip did manage to get this one of Poppy resting on him. Hopefully today will be a little quieter!

Maisie was delighted to see Fozzy, someone to play with. Cheese wasn’t as enamoured. She kept trying to sniff his bottom while he kept trying to lick her face and at one stage it seemed like a fight was about break out! Then Cheese remembered that she was an elderly lady and retreated muttering! Fozzy was completely unfazed! Harmony was restored.

Zebedee went home leaving just the girls, Cheese & Maisie. When I sat down for a cup of tea, they both decided to join me. Luckily Philip was around to get a photo. Maisie will be in her element today when Lucy & Fozzy come for their usual daycare and Fozzy will be delighted to have someone to play with.

Myrtle’s going home later today but Cheese arrived on Saturday for a holiday and Maisie will be here later. Cheese is an elderly lady now with various ailments, like so many of us. However, she’s not mellowed and still tells the others to f**k off when she feels like it. She doesn’t race around anymore but finds a comfy spot and sleeps or observes all from there."

Yesterday, Milo the dachshund came for daycare and was fascinated by Myrtle. Perhaps he thought she was just a larger version of him. He played quite happily with her and Zebedee. He has a recurring sore on his ear, hence the dressing in this photo.

I had to go out yesterday afternoon, not gallivanting, alas, so Uncle Philip was in charge of the two guests. While Rocky snuggled down peacefully, Maisie, apparently, showed her displeasure for quite sometime. I returned to an ecstatic welcome from both.

Harvey is going home this morning and I will miss him. He had no concept of his size and sometimes he raced around like a bull in a China shop, but at heart , he’s a gentle loving boy who sees everyone as a friend. The house will seem much bigger and emptier tonight. X

Zebedee went home yesterday leaving just Harvey & Basil. Basil is a relatively new guest, this being only his second stay. He’s an elderly Norfolk Terrier. He’s a very happy little boy who likes a snuggle. He’s none too keen on having his picture taken, but Philip did manage to get this one.

Yesterday when I went into my bedroom to get dressed, I found a very comfy Harvey. This is where he spends the nights. Although he’s big, once he’s settled, he stays put and doesn’t move around unlike some smaller dogs.

Harvey & Zebedee we’re joined by Nora yesterday who came for daycare. They’d all met before so we’re quite happy to be left with Uncle Philip who managed to get these lovely photos of them all in their favourite places.

Zebedee arrived yesterday for a short stay. He’s now at the age where he like peace quiet calm and somewhere comfy to sleep, so initially he wasn’t terribly amused when Harvey bounced all around him. Over the day they got used to each other and quite happily shared my bed last night.

Harvey the Black Lab arrived for his holiday on Thursday evening. He’s a lovely friendly boy who had no idea of how big he is! He careers around when he’s playing and we sometimes have to remind him to be gentle. Maisie wasn’t at all fazed by him. When he’s here in his own, he’s gentle, quiet and very affectionate. Very good at night. He settled on my bed and sleeps until I decide to get up! Lovely. Philip got the photo yesterday last evening stretched out on the sofa, totally relaxed.

It was a strange day yesterday with no time or chance for photos to be taken. Nora & Rocky were here for daycare and then they were joined by Reggie. It was quite noisy especially with the workmen in and out of the house. So here is one taken on Wednesday where Lucy is almost rolling her eyes as if to say ‘come on, get on with it!’

It was very much business as usual yesterday with Lucy and Fozzy here for daycare. They were joined by Nancy the Greyhound on her first visit without big brother, Malcolm. She was a little withdrawn although Fozzy did his best! She really perked up though when Uncle Philip appeared. He was quite surprised because she’d always run away from him in the past! He managed to get this lovely photo of her. No easy task!

Another guest free night so I’ve had a bit of a lie in, but that will end soon with the arrival of Nancy the greyhound, on her first visit without the wonderful Malcolm. She will be joined soon after by regulars Lucy & Fozzy, so I doubt it will be quiet but lots of cuddles will be on offer. The photo shows Lucy & Fozzy relaxing on the annexe bed last week.
