Today we have some African Marigolds, pepper plants and the last few tomato plants, including some lovely Golden Sunrise yellow tomatoes. Grab some today before they go over. We also have loads of top notch peat-free compost, garden canes, horticultural grit, 6X chicken manure, tomato fertiliser, empty hanging baskets with liners, Enviromesh, garden incinerators, Slug Clear, etc, etc.
And of course, we have our usual extensive range of bird foods, dog foods, horse foods and so on!
We're open 10 til 1. Loads of free parking right outside the door and best of all, the very charming young man behind the till who will take your money with a smile, and talk you to death if you're unlucky enough to turn up when there's nobody else to divert his attention!

We still have a few remaining tomato plants, as well as mini cucumbers, a solitary courgette plant, some African Marigolds, bedding dahlias, petunias, kale and some pepper plants. Pop down and get some while we still have them!

Today we have more French Marigolds, some courgettes and cucumbers. Still have a few tomato plants left but they are starting to stretch - pop down and grab some now before they are gone!

Today we will have a few French Marigolds and courgettes at the shop, as well as a few remaining tomato plants. We're currently cleaned out of compost - more due next week. We do have some fantastic grow bags though!

Tomato plants are looking great at the moment. Pop down and grab some while we still have them - they're going fast! Open 10 til 1 today. We do of course also have loads of compost, bird food, dog food, horse food, cat food etc, etc...

We'll have three different varieties of tomato plants at the shop tomorrow - Shirley, Crimson Crush and Sweet Aperitif. Getting pretty low on Shirley, so if you need some of those, hurry along tomorrow morning! We will have Moneymaker coming soon and Gardeners Delight last of all as they were slow to germinate! Cucumbers and courgettes are doing ok and should be available for second week of May or thereabouts.

First of the tomato plants are at the shop now. We have Shirley and Crimson Crush. A few cold nights are coming this week, so they will need protection from frost.

It's been a poor Spring for growing plants in a cold greenhouse, but our tomato plants are finally putting on some growth. We don't like to sell them too early, but the first ones will be heading to the shop towards the end of the month. This year we have Shirley, Crimson crush, Moneymaker, Gardener's Delight, Sweet Aperitif and possibly a few beefsteak ones too. We'll also have cucumber and courgette plants in due course as well as some French and African marigolds, and a small number of dahlias and petunias. All grown in peat free compost, naturally!

If you've never been in our shop, why not pop by and see us tomorrow? Here's a taster of some of the things we have in store! We also have some new lines, including, by popular demand RABBIT EARS with fur. We also have in stock Pointer Toastees. These come highly recommended by the local Hermes delivery man. I'm not sure that he eats them himself, but apparently they are adored by every dog that tastes them, so now you know where to buy them!

Would anyone like a HUGE cardboard box? I've 3 of these available. They are designed to fit a standard pallet. Seems a shame to flatten them and chuck them in the bin when they could be used. Lots of potential uses, only limited by your imagination. They make a great play pen for children or puppies, can be converted into a fantastic wendy house or perhaps a castle or den. They're even big enough to put your Mother-in-Law into one if she's getting on your nerves. Alternatively, you could be plain boring and just use it for storage in a warehouse. Happy to deliver within a mile or two as they're too big to fit into your average family motor!

Looking for pet supplies or wild bird foods? Did you know that we have a FREE delivery service to Alston, Garrigill and Nenthead areas every Friday? We stock a very wide range of products at our Haltwhistle store - foods, feeds and accessories for dogs, cats, small animals, wild birds and squirrels, horses, poultry and farm animals. If we don't already stock your favourite products, just ask by last thing Tuesday and we can normally get them in time for delivery on a Friday!

Apologies to anyone who tried to get through to us on the phone today. We had no power at the shop for the majority of the day, and thanks to BT switching us on to a digital line it meant that for the first time ever we had no phone line for most of the day. Thanks BT.

Stuck for a last minute gift idea? We have a good selection of bird tables, nest boxes and bird feeding stands in stock. Some are even in boxes so they're nice and easy to wrap! For your four legged friends we also have a range of Christmas toys and snacks but hurry as stocks are limited and they're going fast.

We have a Nature's Menu freezer at the shop and stock a selection of free flow minces, Just Mince blocks, Country Hunter complete nuggets and Nature's Menu complete blocks. We also stock Country Hunter pouches and tins for those who want a good quality wet food but don't want to use raw.

It's Red Squirrel Awareness Week! At Poltross we've always been big supporters of red squirrel conservation since the very first projects were started nearly three decades ago and helped to develop specialist mixes for these delightful creatures. We continue to work with many of the leading conservation groups including Penrith and District Red Squirrel Group Allen Banks & Staward Gorge NT Red Squirrels Northern England who are doing a great job in helping to protect our remaining reds. Keep up the good work!

We've stocked Nature's Menu for a few years and our freezer is always stocked with a range of complete blocks, free flow mince , mince blocks and Country Hunter nuggets. We also stock Country Hunter pouches and Nature's Menu tinned food too!
