❗️RAWHIDE❗️

POSSIBLY THE MOST DANGEROUS DOG TREAT ON THE PLANET!

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white “pure” look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes.

On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.
If that wasn`t bad enough they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Leave them in the shop or if some well meaning person buys them for your dog put them safely away and then dispose in the bin!

🐾Dealing with Hyperactivity in Dogs🐾

Is your dog always on the move, full of energy, and never seems to settle down? Hyperactivity can be exhausting for both dogs and owners, but it’s important to understand that it’s often a sign that your dog has unmet physical or mental needs. 🐶💨

Here are some tips to help calm a hyperactive dog:

1. Increase Exercise
A tired dog is a happy dog! Take your dog for longer walks, engage in play sessions, or try activities like hiking or swimming to burn off that extra energy. 🏃‍♀️🐕
But also an over exercised dog can lead to an ADRENALINE JU**IE - the dog is always looking for the next fix.
It’s about finding the right balance.

2. Mental Stimulation
Dogs also need to exercise their brains too! Puzzle toys, training sessions, and calm games can help channel their energy in a positive way. 🧠 mental stimulation is a great way to tire your dog. Did you know chewing is considered mentally stimulating, increases serotonin levels which in turn creates calmness.

3. Set a Routine
Consistency helps dogs feel secure. Establish a daily routine for feeding, exercise, and quiet time. 🕒

4. Practice Calmness
Reward your dog when they are calm. Ignore hyperactive behavior and reinforce quiet, relaxed moments to encourage them to settle. 🧘‍♀️

5. Consider Diet
Sometimes, hyperactivity can be linked to diet. High-sugar, low-quality and processed ingredients can cause behavior changes. A balanced diet may help manage their energy levels. 🍖🥕

If you have concerns about your dog’s behaviour, consult a vet to ensure there’s no underlying health issue contributing to their hyperactivity. Sounds crazy but pain can be linked to hyperactivity.

Patience, consistency, and the right outlets for energy can make all the difference in helping your dog live a balanced and happy life! ❤️🐾

"The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives."
Tony Robbins

Just like with humans, the way we communicate with our dogs shapes their behavior and reactions. Reactive dogs are often misunderstood, but with the right training and understanding, we can change how they respond to the world. Take the time to learn your dog’s language—it’ll improve your bond and their behavior! 🐾

Let your dogs sniff.

It's essential for your dog's physical and mental well-being, but pet parents often ignore it - or deliberately curtail it, not realizing it's how dogs connect themselves to their environment. Know that robbing your dog of this natural instinct can lead to sensory deprivation and increased stress.

Looking for a new home.

This beautiful Sprocker spaniel is looking for a new forever home. Unfortunately the female dogs she lives with don’t like her anymore. She has stayed with me and gets on fine with my boys and has no problems with other dogs on a walk. A new home with no other female dogs would be great.
Tilly is 2yrs old, spade and all vaccinations are up to date.
She has been very much loved and this hard decisions is the right one for her.
Tilly is very well trained in all basic obedience, has excellent recall and knows plenty of tricks. She loves retrieving, has done some agility, scent work and is normally found with a soft toy in her mouth. Forest or beach walks are awesome but she is also calm at home and gives the best cuddles.
Good with children.
She doesn’t like loud noises such as power tools, hoover and can be a little nervous at the vets (all normal spaniel). Would really suit someone who wants to do agility or loves training as Tilly wants to learn and to be active. If I didn’t board dogs she would be staying with me x
