šŸ“š Ezraā€™s Little Library opens in Town Park šŸŒ³

A new outdoors library has opened at the Town Park Learning Centre in memory of a brave little boy.

Ezra was 21 months old when he sadly passed away last year due to complications related to Holt-Oram Syndrome, a condition that affects the upper limbs and heart.

To honour Ezraā€™s love of the Town Park and reading books, his family with the support of Harlow Council created a little library where residents can take a book, bring a book or share a book šŸ“š

When you come and see us please visit Ezraā€™s Little Library which is just outside the Learning Centre.

What happens at Pets' Corner Harlow during the Town Park fireworks display?

Ensuring the health and wellbeing of the animals at Petsā€™ Corner is a big part of our preparations for the event.

The amazing team at Pets' Corner, which is made up of staff and volunteers, spend the day preparing the site and the animals.

They cover up all the small animal enclosures to prevent light disturbances and reduce some noise. A darker environment helps to keep them calm.

All the animals are kept inside the main part of Petsā€™ Corner and not in the paddocks. Each pen of animals has a keeper assigned to their care and a person that they are familiar with. For the evening the keeper is responsible for feeding that animal as soon as the fireworks start. This works really well as it keeps the animals distracted and calm. The keeper will stay with that animal, providing them with treats and further reassuring contact if needed.

Regularly contact between Petsā€™ Corner and the council staff running the event is maintained leading up to the fireworks and during the display. Staff at Petsā€™ Corner are given regularly updates on when the fireworks will start so they can get ready to feed and monitor the animals. If there is an emergency with any animal, this can be relayed straight back to the event organisers. Staff and volunteers will also stay on after the event to ensure the animals have settled before they leave.

These processes have been in place for all the years the event has been running and it is overseen by a very experienced team of staff and volunteers. We are hugely grateful for all the work the staff and volunteers do.

All the animals at Pets' Corner manage well during the fireworks display, and we have never encountered any issues. This is all thanks to the hard work of the team and the well-established preparations which are in place.
