⚠️ Awareness post ⚠️
Please share this with your friends and neighbours to help prevent sick pets this winter ⛄️
Antifreeze is a common product in most households, but do you know about the effects this product can have on our pets? 🐱
Antifreeze is extremely poisonous to animals.
Cats are particularly susceptible to antifreeze poisoning as they are most likely to be hanging around under cars during the winter months, and some cats may think it is OK to drink, but even the tiniest bit spilt can be fatal for them ☠️
Ingestion of antifreeze can cause lethal poisoning in a matter of hours, and even a splash on your cats coat can be enough to kill them should they lick it, so it's extremely important to get rid of any spilt antifreeze immediately 🪣
If you spill it, make sure to wash it away with large amounts of water, ensuring that any puddles do not have antifreeze in them too.
Knowing the signs of antifreeze poisoning is also helpful should this happen to your pets 💡
The main signs are:
⚠️ Seeming 'drunk' or unsteady on their feet
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Difficulty breathing
⚠️ Seizures
If your pet shows these symptoms please don't delay and call us to see a vet immediately.

❄️🐾 **Winter Paw Care for Your Dog!** 🐾❄️

As snow begins to fall tonight, it’s a good time to remember how our furry friends are adapted to cold weather – but even they need some extra TLC in winter! ❄️🐕

Dogs have amazing ways to keep their paws warm in freezing temps. Their blood vessels are specially designed to keep their feet from freezing, with warm blood circulating through arteries and cooler blood returning through veins, ensuring they stay comfortable in the cold. But even with these natural adaptations, winter hazards like ice, snow, and salt can cause discomfort or damage to your dog's paws.

Here’s how to protect their paws this winter:
- **Rinse paws**: After walks, wash your dog's paws with warm (not hot!) water to remove grit or salt, and gently dry them with a towel.
- **Paw balm**: Apply a little paw butter or balm to keep their paws moisturized and prevent cracking.
- **Trim fur**: Keep the fur between their toes trimmed so snow doesn’t ball up and cause pain.
- **Break up ice**: If snow or ice builds up, carefully remove it during the walk or melt it off at home with warm water.

By taking these steps, you’ll help keep your dog’s paws safe and comfortable during snowy adventures! 🐾❤️ Stay warm, stay safe!

Jess is a regular visitor to us, she comes monthly for injections to help her arthritis pain. If you pet seems to be stiffening up, struggling after a long walk or in the colder weather it is worth coming along and having a chat with a vet as there are many amazing medications that can give them a new lease of life just like little Jess has.
Always lovely to see you sweet girl!

❄️ Keep Your Outdoor Pets Warm This Winter! ❄️

As the temperature drops, it’s important to take extra care of your outdoor pets, like rabbits and guinea pigs, who can struggle in the cold. While these pets are naturally adapted to cooler temperatures, they still need help to stay safe, warm, and comfortable through the winter months. Here are some essential tips to keep your outdoor pets snug:

1️⃣ Provide a Buddy: Rabbits and guinea pigs are social animals, and having a companion to huddle with can help keep them warm. Plus, exercise with friends helps them generate body heat.

2️⃣ Shelter is Key: Make sure their hutch is sheltered from the wind, rain, and snow. Consider moving it to a dry, sheltered spot or inside a shed.

3️⃣ Insulate the Hutch: Add extra bedding like straw or hay to help keep the cold out. You can also use weatherproof covers or blankets to insulate their hutch.

4️⃣ Use a Heat Pad: For extra warmth, place a microwaveable heat pad inside their sleeping area (make sure it's safe and won't overheat).

5️⃣ Keep Water Unfrozen: Check their water supply regularly to make sure it doesn’t freeze. Dehydration is a real concern in winter.

6️⃣ Move Indoors If Needed: If the weather gets too harsh, or if your pet seems unwell or stressed, consider bringing them inside until conditions improve. Talk to your vet if you're unsure.

💡 Signs Your Pet Might Be Too Cold:

Sluggishness or lack of activity
Shivering or huddling outside of their warm area
A change in eating or droppings patterns
If you notice any of these signs, bring your pet inside to warm up and contact your vet if you’re concerned.

🛏️ Remember, outdoor pets need plenty of time to forage, play, and exercise during winter too — just make sure it’s in a safe, dry space!

Stay proactive to ensure your pets have a warm, comfortable winter — they’ll thank you for it! 🐰🐹

This is lovely Ben. He is a regular visitor of ours as he has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. Ben wasn't a big fan of his daily injections so we have been on board with his owners to assist every step of the way. We absolutely love his visits, he always has a happy tail and a lovely smile!

On this , we honor not only the human lives sacrificed but also the animals who served alongside them. From messenger pigeons and heroic war horses to loyal dogs and even carrier pigeons, countless animals have played vital roles in times of conflict. They were more than companions—they were soldiers in their own right.

Today, we remember their courage, their sacrifices, and the indelible mark they’ve left on history. 🌍💔

Let’s take a moment to reflect on all the lives—human and animal—affected by war. ❤️

Meet Ralph everyone.
Ralph has been a bit of a regular this year!
He has endured a broken rib and leg following a car accident, has had emergency surgery to remove a foreign body (corn on the cob) that was causing a gut obstruction, followed by castration to remove an enlarged testicle and is now in for problems with his a**l glands. This is all within the last 6 months!
At 10 years young, he is certainly keeping his owners on their toes..... and very thankful for good pet insurance!
We are very happy to report that he is doing well, and more importantly still a big fan of visiting us despite all his past issues.
Always lovely to see you Ralph, however I'm sure your mum would like to stick to boosters and social visits going forwards..... 🙃
