The Washburn Heritage Centre sits on a wooded slope beside Swinsty reservoir and is a place where the rich history, natural resources and community of Washburn Valley can be celebrated.

The Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room is open tomorrow (16th) from 11-4pm serving our full lunch menu including homemade soup with roll and butter. You might like to try Eileen’s iced lemon cake too 😋. The churchyard is full of snowdrops; a beautiful sight to see 😊

Lambs are arriving in the Washburn Valley! You might spot one or two if you visit our Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room on Sunday 9th February. We are open from 11-4pm serving our full lunch menu and range of delicious cakes, including Gill’s lemon cake and Virginia’s rich Dundee cake. Looking forward to seeing you 😊 🐑

The Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room is OPEN on Sunday 2nd February from 11-4pm serving our full lunch menu, a range of delicious homemade cakes and drinks. Our new programme ‘Visitors to the Valley’ launches this weekend and the fabulous new accompanying exhibition is on display. And signs of spring are peeping into the churchyard!

It’s the last weekend of the month and the Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room is closed. A full lunch menu can be found across the road at the Parochial Church Hall where a local charity is supported. We will reopen as usual next Sunday (2nd February) and look forward to seeing you 😊 🍰 ☕️

Our new programme ‘Visitors to the Valley’ launches on 1 February. Here is the leaflet; hard copies now available to collect from the Centre or (over the next week or so) local places such as libraries. We hope to see you at an event soon!

The snow has gone and we can finally open the Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room for the first time this year! Sunday 19th January from
11-4pm … we look forward to seeing you. Our full lunch menu is on offer, with homemade soup served with roll and butter, and of course our legendary homemade cakes 🍰

The Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room will remain CLOSED this weekend (Sunday 12 January) while the conditions are still tricky. Fingers crossed we’re back to normal soon. We are missing our family of volunteers and lovely visitors 😢

The Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room is CLOSED tomorrow - Sunday 5th January. We are sorry to make this decision but need to keep our volunteers safe and the advice is not to drive tomorrow. Let’s hope the snow is fleeting and we get back to normal by next week. ❄️

We are pleased to share this postcard, sent to Fewston from a Mr Les Myers during WW2. Christmas then will have been very different to Christmas today.

It’s the last weekend in the month and the Washburn Heritage Centre Tea Room is CLOSED (23 & 24 November). A full lunch can be found across the road at the Parochial Church Hall with proceeds to their chosen charity.

We reopen again on Sunday 1st December 11-4pm 👍

Today we welcomed BBC Look North’s weather man Paul Hudson to the Heritage Centre. He talked about his career, his life on the telly and his knowledge and thoughts about climate change. It was a super morning for all our guests who were interested to hear what he had to say. Thank you for being with us this morning. 🌧️ 🌞 💨 ⛅️
