Hot weather is forecast this weekend and next week.
Walk at cooler times of day, walk in the shade and/or where they can paddle or just let them out briefly to do their toiletting.
Also remember pavements, roads & artificial grass can be much hotter than you might expect, check the temperature with your hand to check it's a comfortable temperature for your dog.

📣🐱CAT OWNERS PLEASE READ! 🐱📣
👨‍⚖️New legislation has been passed to make microchipping of all cats mandatory!
🐈All cats over 20 weeks of age must be microchipped by 10th June 2024.
🐱Owners of cats without microchips will have 21 days to have one implanted, or face a fine of up to £500.
🕵🏼‍♀️These new rules will be invaluable in helping us safely reunite lost or stray cats with their families 👏
💉Microchipping is a safe and simple procedure, and can usually be done during a routine health check or vaccination appointment.
☎️For more information, or to book your cat in to be microchipped, just give us a call (01423 637333), or make an appointment online 👍

A beautiful example of happy co operative play.

Positive Reinforcement training helps dogs learn how to cope, behave, thrive & and enjoy life more.
This trainer mentions that there are trainers in the area recommending the use of aversive equipment such as prong collars. At best this teaches the dog to suppress the unwanted behaviour & mask how he/she is feeling......potentially until it all gets too much.

Please keep an eye on your dog. A lot of dogs in the area are getting ill.
Please tell me if your dog is ill or has a bug so we can try to avoid passing it on.

🐶We have recently seen an increase in the number of dogs coming to us with gastroenteritis🐶
🌡Affected dogs have been suffering from some, or all, of the following signs: vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced appetite, lethargy.
🌡The majority of dogs have recovered well with symptomatic treatment, a small proportion of severe cases may require intravenous fluids and hospitalisation.
🌡The condition appears to be very contagious between dogs, it is therefore advised to keep affected dogs away from healthy dogs to prevent spread. There is no evidence that people should avoid walking their dogs if they are fit and well.
🌡If you are concerned your pet may be unwell then please contact your vet for advice.

There's an article in the Advertiser about the number of cases of gastroenteritis in dogs that there are at the mo.
Please keep a look out for this (sickness & diarrhea) and if your dog is ill please tell me so that I don't take it out (& they infect other dogs) call your vet.
One dog that I walk has had this for over a week now. Please be careful. Thank you.

Albertz, Todd and Poppy have a lovely play with Rosie. This is so good for a puppy to learn how to play nicely with other dogs, taught by good mentors.

I love tea! T for totally awesome! Camomile tea for anxiety, bathing eyes, cleaning grazes, and for diarrhoea (never give chamomile to cats), nettle tea for itchy skin. Just two amazing teas!!

Pop the tea bag or loose tea in a cup, add boiling water and pop a saucer on top. Allow to brew for 20 minutes. And once cool you can use it! Black tea is also good for bathing eyes

You can’t hurt and could help. Bathing eyes with tea alongside vet medication can really aid healing. Just give it at least 30 mins between bathing and using eye drops to avoid washing drops out.

Come and learn with me! Virtual and online courses do cover a little more info but I also offer face to face classes, however your prefer to learn!

One vet (a bit quirky) helping your pet ❤️

Look at this lovely play between Albert & Poppy. It looks pretty full on & as though they are unevenly matched but it doesn't matter. Look at those relaxed, happy waggy tails, how they take time outs and choose to resume play, swapping roles between hunter and hunted. They are both loving it. (Although a dog does get inadvertantly caught up in it 😊).
