Karen at Paws & More focuses on animal welfare to deliver the best possible service in a safe and relaxing environment. She does not use cages or drying cabinets and has a lazy lawn garden adjacent to the grooming room. Karen at Paws wants your pet to enjoy the grooming process and this takes time. Regular garden breaks so your dog is free to roam, play and socialise is part of the process along with an abundance of love and cuddles. Karen allows your dog to dictate the pace she works at to enable her to gain your dogs trust and secure their comfort.

PUPPY INTRODUCTION:
The Puppy Introduction to Grooming is for puppies between the age of 14 weeks to 8 months. A puppy’s first visit to the grooming salon is crucial to how he/she will respond to being groomed for the rest of their lives, so therefore, a good experience is what we strive for. Paws & More will introduce your pup to the sounds of the grooming room allowing them roam around time in our garden before we introduce them to the bathing process, followed by a brush and blow dry, quick trim of the nails, we will get them used to having their paws and nails handled as this is often an area of anxiety for dogs. A light trim of paws, hygiene area and the hair around the eyes. In addition Paws & More will get them used to having their mouths handled, by gently opening their mouth and running our fingers around their teeth and gums, this will allow for easier dental hygiene, whether this be with our Ultrasound Teeth Cleaning system here or your own brushing at home. They will be rewarded along the way with treats & cuddles.
All puppies must have their vaccinations up to date. Puppies can attend the Grooming room one week following their second vaccination.

PAWS & MORE UNTRASOUND TEETH AND GUM CLEANING:
Prevention is better than cure. Dental hygiene is as important for our canine friends as it is for our human ones and recent studies have shown 80 percent of dogs suffer tooth decay before their third birthday.
Ultrasound teeth and gum cleaning is an effective and gentle system for cleaning your dogs teeth without the need of a risky anaesthetic. It cleans without movement or noise, it cleans where the bristles are unable to reach, eg: gum pockets and interdental spaces. It improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow with no abrasive damage or irritation to teeth and gums. Antibacterial effect eliminates pathogenic bacteria on the teeth, on the gums and in the gum pockets. Effectively combats: Gingivitis & Periodontitis, Oral Cavity Disease, Plaque & Tartar build up, Bad Breath. 100% Ultrasonic, Motion and Soundless.
Although one cleaning session will whiten the teeth, regular sessions are recommended for noticeable differences and to keep your best friends mouth in tip top condition. Vets bill for teeth cleaning can cost up to £450, not to mention the stress of your dog undergoing an anaesthetic procedure.

PAWS & MORE TRAINING:
A lot of basic dog principals work for numerous breeds but each breed, and dog for that matter, presents their own unique set of challenges and rewards. I use breed specific guides to assist reward based training.
Not all dogs need to be obedience superstars, great at agility or experts of tricks. I do not think as a pet owner this is necessarily what you are looking for. To have your dog sit when asked, to be able to walk your dog without them dragging you round the park but calmly, on a loose lead, to be able to stop for a chat with your dog calmly sitting and waiting.
The training I offer is based on teaching basic calm behaviour that you will need from your dog in everyday life.
I use positive reward training only, this is by far the most effective training you can give your dog. It is easier for your dog to learn if rewarded for doing the correct behaviour, than telling them off for getting it wrong. They will enjoy the training and be willing if rewarded. We work on a 1-1 basis with your dog.
