Hi, my name is Gemma, I am the owner of Hound Hotel, I am 31 years old and a mother of two beautiful daughters.
I have been around animals all my life.
My last job was working for a vet's working with different types of animals, but I wanted to change direction and follow my dream.
My company is based on 24-hour care where your dog will stay indoors in a warm home, walks every day, and lots of treats and cuddles.

None of us want to leave our dogs when we go out of town. It’s hard on us and it’s hard on them. But we can’t always take our dog with us on a trip.
So, what are our options? The first thing most people do is ask friends and family if they would be willing to watch our furry family member while we’re gone.
However, this can be a lot to ask for most people. Our dogs may not handle the separation well and frankly, everyone has very busy lives. They may not be able to provide the attention and stimulation that our dog needs to have a healthy stay.
A boarding facility can provide a safe, professional environment for our dog.They may end up having just as much fun as you during vacation time. Maybe more!

Home dog boarding has become a popular alternative to leaving a dog in kennels when going on holiday, attending a hospital appointment, or needing to be away for home for a day or two. It seems that as more people become familiar with this arrangement they recognize its advantages and choose dog home boarding over kennel boarding.

Most dogs prefer their own surroundings and are happier in that environment. Sometimes, though, this is not possible. At times of sickness or holiday or whatever unexpected situation might arise, home dog boarding offers an alternative. Dogs go to stay with experienced dog carers in the carer’s own home. The dog benefits from constant company, frequent walks, fun and games, and lots of attention.

The main benefit of walking a dog is that it provides them with the exercise they need to stay fit and healthy. If a dog is left cooped inside up all day then he or she will not be able to burn-off any excess fat that they store from eating. A dog’s natural instinct is to walk; in the wild they regularly walk for as long as they want, it isn’t right to deny them of their exercise-time.

Walking a dog does not only have physical benefits, there are plenty of psychological benefits for both the owner and the dog. There are so many smells, sights and sounds in the outdoors that a dog is mentally stimulated every time he or she goes outside. Taking a dog on a walk will also help to keep the strong bond between the animal and the owner. It gives the dog an opportunity to receive some positive attention from the owner whilst spending time doing what he or she loves; walking, running and exploring.
