Clifton Lodge Veterinary Group Small animal veterinary practice located in Hartlepool, with branches in Horden, Billingham and Sedg Clifton Lodge Vets opened in 1950 in Hartlepool.

Since then we have become a Tier 2 RCVS accredited practice in Hartlepool and across our branches in Billingham, Horden and Sedgefield. We offer an impressive variety of veterinary services including an experienced veterinary team, a well-equipped in-house laboratory, surgical theatres, digital x-ray along with a team of registered veterinary nurses, students and assistants. **REUNITED WITH OWNER**

Urgently looking to find the owner of a ginger/ red cross breed dog (possibly cross staffy), found outside tesco at lunchtime today. A member of the general public has brought the dog to the surgery but the microchip contact number is unavailable.
We are unable to board the dog overnight so urgently need to find her family!

This afternoon we have had a male dog brought into our Hartlepool surgery that sadly had already passed over rainbow bridge.

He is a Chihuahua breed and is mainly white with brown patches. He is not castrated or microchipped.

Unfortunately as he is not microchipped we have been unable to contact his family.

⚠️ A warning to our lovely clients who like to walk their dogs along the beach to watch out for “taprogge balls”. These are small foam rubber balls used by the power station in their cooling system.

These balls are normally collected, recycled and reused but every now and again some escape and end up washed up on our beaches and can take up to 2 years to biodegrade.

Unsuspecting dog walkers need to watch out that their beloved pets do not mistake these balls for toys just as poor Pepper did a few weeks ago. She unfortunately swallowed the ball where it lodged in her stomach making her quite unwell. Luckily her owner brought her straight in for an examination before it had a chance to move from the stomach into the intestines and cause a potentially fatal blockage.

The cause of Peppers illness was very obvious as soon as we took X-rays (photo attached)and she was sent straight to theatre to remove the ball.

These balls are very small,soft and brightly coloured so very tempting for dogs to pick up.

Please contact us urgently if you think your dog could have swallowed one!

Thankfully Pepper is now well on the road to recovery thanks to her lovely mam and our amazing team.

Exciting news!

We have invested in an endoscope and laparascopic equipment, which means we can offer more procedures in house. One of which is keyhole spaying.
As the equipment is new and we are training our team to use it we are offering laparascopic spays at the same price as a normal spay for suitable candidates over the next few weeks.

A deceased male cat that was found at port Clarence has been brought in to our Billingham surgery today ☹️

He is an uncastrated, tabby wearing a black diamanté collar. He has no microchip so we have been unable to inform his family.

This is Oscar who spent the day with our Billingham team for his castration surgery ✂️

As you can see he took it all in his stride and was very comfortable with his big bed. He loved all the attention he got whilst with us and the team loved his cheeky personality.
