Digby is a Cockapoo who has been coming to see Lou for many years now. We all absolutely love him. He comes in and has to say hello to each person before having his bath.

Meet our team!

Hope you have enjoyed meeting our wonderful team over the last few days, it’s amazing to see how much we have grown in numbers since our Groom Shed salon!

Our final member to introduce (although she needs no introduction) is co owner of Be:dog, Sophie.

Sophie runs every aspect of our business, she is one of the hardest working people I know. She puts everyone before herself and is always doing what she can to ensure our clients and team are thoroughly looked after.

Sophie works at the front of house, she has the biggest and warmest of smiles ready to greet everyone. She is excellent at making coffee and very knowledgeable with regard to our dog’s essential needs, she hand picks everything we sell in our shop, ensuring they meet our brand values and standards.

Thank you Sophie for all that you do for us and making Be:dog the wonderful salon it is with the most fabulous team. 😘😘

And thank you to our followers for the love and support you have shown the team, they really are incredible. They work tirelessly to ensure your dog has the best and most comfortable experience whilst at the ‘groomers’

Introducing the lovely Evie. Evie works with us on Saturdays, shampooing and blowdrying the dogs.

Evie is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to have in the salon. Although I would love to say that she will be joining our team full time after she finishes college but very excitingly for her she will be heading off to university.

Introducing to you Josie (posing with Be:dog’s favourite tea brand!) Josie joined our team last week and will be working ad hoc days in our shop/ coffee shop so to allow Sophie some time off.

Josie has been a coffee client of ours since we opened and often comes in with one of our favourite 🐕 clients, Fozzie. Josie also works along the high-street at the wonderful Rhubarb greengrocers.

Josie is super bubbly and has a very welcoming smile and has fitted in instantly with the team. We look forward to more days with Josie and getting to know them better. So please come by and say hi and if Josie is not in our shop then try Rhubarb!

Meet Vicky! Vicky has been a client of mine for sometime with her gorgeous dog Bertie, so we were very excited when she agreed to work with us in our shop/ coffee shop.

We asked Vicky to join our team as she is very bubbly, welcoming and extremely organised. The perfect qualities for looking after our busy appointment book.

Plus she can make a great coffee!!

Meet our team!

I would like to introduce you to Lucy. Lucy has been with us since we opened Be:dog working alongside me as my grooming assistant.

I’m extremely lucky to have Lucy as my assistant as she is amazing! Her blowdrys are so impressive! Not only is she amazing at doing them but the love and care she gives each dog when she is with them is incredible.

Being a little shorter, poor Lucy is often drowned by the dogs but that doesn’t stop her from literally climbing in the baths to make sure each dog is washed properly and given the best treatment.

Lucy brings so much to our team she is beautiful inside and out and we are very excited to announce that she will be training with Be:dog to become a groomer herself. So very soon you may be lucky enough to have Lucy groom your dog. We can already tell she will be a natural.

Introducing the beautiful Claire (her name is actually Nicky but we already have a Nic so to save confusion we call her by her middle name Claire.)

Claire is our newest dog groomer only joining our team 2 weeks ago, working Tuesday and Wednesdays. Claire has been grooming for a few years in her own salon but joined our team as wants to work alongside other groomers to continue her learning and have people to help support her and her dogs which working in a team allows.

Claire has fitted in instantly, she is very kind, caring and gentle and brings a lovely presence to the day. She cares so much about making it right for the client, we know she will be a big hit with our clients.

Introducing Phoebe, one of our newest team members although already very much part of the family. Phoebe has joined us as a grooming assistant, shampooing, drying and chief dog treat giver!

Phoebe is over here on a gap year (or 2 🤞) from New Zealand. She is the niece of one of our amazing clients and is fab addition to our team. Phoebe’s photo says it all, she is mad crazy about dogs! Big or small you can tell how much she adores them. She does have 3 herself!

She brings so much warmth to our day and it’s so wonderful seeing how much she cares for our clients, comforting and playing with them to make their experience extra special.

Meet our clients 🐕🐕

Meet Ruby and Daisy the French Bulldog sisters (4 years old). These 2 have been coming to see me since they were pups. I absolutely love it when they are in. They are so playful and do love a treat! Especially when I have squeezy cheese!!

❓Out of the 2 of you who’s the most naughty and why?

🐕 Daisy: I’m definitely the naughtiest, because I’m the one who snorts my way into the snack cabinet, does the loudest frenchie scream to embarrass my hoomans and somehow always ends up in the forbidden comfy chair. Ruby is a goody two shoes and follows the rules—I make my own!

❓If you could both be superheroes, what would your superpowers be and why?

🐕 Daisy: My special power would be the ability to instantly create infinite snacks. Treats on demand, every time! Just imagine: “Snack-girl” at your service, fighting hunger one biscuit at a time!

🐕 Ruby: My special power would be the ability to run forever without getting tired! They’d call me “Turbo Pup,” always ready for a marathon of zoomies around the park!

❓Which one of you steals all the treats?

🐕 Daisy: Oh, that would be me! I’m the treat-stealing champion. I have a nose like a radar and can sniff out a hidden snack from a mile away. No treat is safe when I’m around!

❓What embarrassing names do your hoomans call you?

🐕 Oh, the names they call us! “Ruby two poo’s,” “Daisy Do Do,” and we both get called “Stinky”. They seem to think it’s hilarious, but we just give them a side eye look and keep the on snorting.

❓Why do you come to be:dog?

🐕 That’s easy, treats and squeezy cheese 🧀 (but our hoomans say it’s because we are looked after so well)

Introducing the wonderful and full of character Zara.

Zara is a Pomeranian who has been coming to see Lou for the last 4 years. She is always so well behaved and is the best at posing for photos after, especially if the photo is capturing her 🍑🤭

❓If you could be a super hero what would your superpower be?
🐕 I would be elasti-girl from the film The Incredibles so that I could reach right back into the dishwasher and lick all the plates!!

❓How many treats could you eat in 10 seconds?
🐕 my speciality is not chewing whilst I eat so I would say at least 100 maybe more on a good day!

❓What is the naughtiest thing you have ever done?
🐕 I have been known to steal food off my pawrents dinner plates even when they haven’t finished. I am such a diva I don’t wait to be asked.

❓What names do your hoomans give you?
🐕 Zazzy wazzy, Pommie, Zazzy bear, Zara banana( I don’t know where they get this one from…they know I’m not yellow right? ), Zazzy pants (because of the special pantaloons my stylist Lou creates for me). I could go on darlings

❓Why do you come to Be:dog?
🐕 because I’m worth it!

This is the wonderful Phil. Phil is a schnauzer who is a very much loved client of ours for many years. He is always the perfect gent when being groomed and brightens our day when he’s in 💙

❓What is the most embarrassing thing you have done?
🐕 The most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done has to be the time I snuck into the utility room and eat 3/4 of my nans 70th birthday cake. I was caught red handed and the whole family thought it was really funny - especially when I had my head in the bowl later that evening.

❓ What is the most embarrassing thing your humans do?
🐕 Always getting my name confused with my human brother, Will!

❓If you could be a superhero what would your super power be?
🐕 I’d definitely want to be invisible. I’d sneak up on the neighbours cat and scare them!

❓Why do you like coming to Be:dog?
🐕 I absolutely love it there. The girls always make a fuss over me and make me look the part ❤️

❓How many biscuits can you eat in 10 seconds?
🐕 99, easily, is this a question I have to prove after? Because that would be fun!

This picture shows a dogs nail that has grown and started to curl back in on its self, creating a swelling on the toe.

Dogs nails typically grow at a rate of around 2 millimeters per week. However, this can vary depending on several factors such as the dog’s age, breed, diet, activity level, and overall health. Active dogs that walk or run on hard surfaces may naturally wear down their nails, reducing the need for frequent trimming. In contrast, less active dogs or those that mostly walk on grassy surfaces may require more frequent nail maintenance. Regular trimming is essential to prevent overgrowth, which can cause discomfort or health issues. Dewclaws do not touch the ground and therefore never naturally wear down so will need regular clipping.

Meet our team! Meet the gorgeous Hannah. Hannah works with us full time as one of our dog groomers. Previously she was a dog trainer, helping many people with a large array of dog behaviour needs, before we luckily nabbed her to work with us and help us work with anxious and nervous dogs. Hannah has patience in abundance when it comes to dogs, you couldn’t have your dog in safer hands. She is constantly coming up with tips and tricks to support all the dogs in the salon. Bringing her dog training skills into grooming. Not only is she a fantastic groomer she is also one of the most positive people I’ve ever met. Always full of life and lots of fun in the salon. Nicola joined our team at the beginning of the year and brings such amazing energy to our day. Always happy and smiling and simply adores dogs. She misses them when not in and spends a lot of her spare time educating herself in all things dog grooming. Nic has fantastic scissor skills and her achievement of a rounded paw on a doodle is one we are all very envious of in the salon. 5 years ago today our family became compete. We adopted our 2 beautiful boys. Our choice to adopt hugely is thanked by our beloved dog Archie. We adopted Archie 9 years ago, we are his 4th home. He came with many challenges, walking on a lead and learning the outside world is not so scary were 2 of his biggest challenges. But what he taught us was far more than we could teach him. He taught us that it doesn’t matter we didn’t have him from a pup, it didn’t matter he had a world before us, it didn’t matter he didn’t come from us. When it came to the ‘kid’ chat it was then a no brainer. We were going to adopt. And today we celebrate 5 years as a family. Our new family also changed our lives. I decided working for others was not for me so set about opening my own salon, Groom Shed (albeit during the pandemic). Groom Shed was great I had the best team with me but very quickly I realised we needed to be bigger and better. We needed the space to offer our clients the best environment for us to work and now specialise in nervous and anxious dogs. Luckily for me 4 years ago I met the most amazing woman, Sophie. Soph and her family supported us to set up our new salon Be:dog which Sophie and I both proudly own together. We have a fabulous location on hurstpierpoint high street offering kind dog grooming in a spacious environment. We offer carefully sourced dog gifts and essentials and serve the best take away coffee, hot chocolate, matcha and more. I’m feeling extremely grateful today for the last 5 years and the now. I have an amazing family at home and an awesome work family, I’ve surrounded myself with the most incredible inspiring people.
