I had a lovely morning yesterday working with these 2 handsome boys.

Quest was only backed last summer and is virtually blind in one eye. When I first started working with him he wouldn’t lunge, hated being tacked up, and would rear or buck when asked to go forward when ridden. Well he’s like a completely different horse!! He now happily walks, trots, canters on the lunge, will stand while you put his saddle on and is now nicely trotting forward when ridden. He still has the odd moment and there is still a lot to work on but he is definitely getting there! 🥰

I have also been giving his owner lessons on her 5 year old and yesterday she had her first canter out in the field on him! He was a star and I even got to have a sneaky ride on him! 🙊

Super proud of this chap!

I brought Quest back to work for his owner in December after about 6 months off.
We have been doing lots of ground work and some short walk sessions with me on board as he was very resistant and unsure when he was backed last summer, resulting in him rearing and bucking.

I also normally have his owner on foot as a lead for him as he is virtually blind in one eye and can be a little unsure and spooky.

Well on our last session after a quick long rein I hopped on board and he felt ready to crack on and go it alone.

We even added a few trots which he settled in to nicely. A slight resistance at times but given the time to think, he made the right decision and really started to enjoy it 🐴

This last month I have been working with this gorgeous boy.

Quest is a rescue and is virtually blind in one eye. His owner called me in to work with him on the ground to begin with and then start ridden work when he was ready.
He was backed last summer but was only lightly brought on due to him becoming overwhelmed and not having a rider for him.

I have been lunging, long reining and doing a bit of in hand work and he has been doing really well, so on Friday I felt he was ready for me to get on board.
He was so well behaved and took it all in his stride. We had a little walk around and left it there. I’m looking forward to see how he progresses!

I am available for groundwork sessions, backing and bringing on 🐴

Let’s talk stretching…

Who does it??

Stretching/carrot stretches 🥕 can be so beneficial to your horse if done correctly.

Here are just a few benefits…

🐴Improves range of movement
🐴Reduces risk of injury
🐴Helps to improve blood flow and circulation
🐴Helps to support/improve posture
🐴Helps to reduce pain and stiffness
🐴Help to release tightness in muscle when focused on a particular area.

How often should they be done?

🥕HOLD the stretch for approximately 3-5 seconds
🥕REPEAT 3-5 times
🥕DO the stretches twice per day

This week I got to treat the lovely JD! 🐴

JD has recently started bucking when ridden so I was asked to go and give him a treatment to see if there was anything that was tight and causing him discomfort.

I think it’s safe to say he thoroughly enjoyed his treatment and was very happy when I released a few of his tight spots!
