Help Pets Like Gyasi Defy the Odds
🐱 Gyasi, a brave cat, was given just weeks to live. Four years later, he’s still thriving, thanks to expert cancer care at the RVC.
“We’ve had priceless extra time with Gyasi. He’s living life to the fullest while undergoing treatment, and it means the world to us.” — Siobhan, Gyasi’s owner.
Your support can help more pets with cancer like Gyasi receive the life-enhancing treatment they need to enjoy more time with their families.

When we opened our new blood donor unit this month, we were reminded of the wonderful community spirit that embraces the RVC Blood Donor Programme. The service has over 200 blood donors, #GivingBlood to help #SickPets. To every human who brings (or has ever brought) their beloved pet in to donate, thank you. When you save a pet, you save the humans who love them too. To find out what’s involved about becoming a blood donor visit www.rvcact.com/CanYourPetGiveBlood
Cow calving simulator
Happy #WorldAnimalDay! We're passionate about animal welfare and increasing opportunities for students to practise their skills safely before working with live animals. We've funded a Hereford cow calving simulator which enables students to hone essential techniques such as calving, blood sampling and administering epidurals. Watch the video to see this innovative teaching model in action. The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) #AnimalWelfare #VeterinarySkills #cow #calving
Today is #WorldHeartDay! Thanks to a generous supporter, we’ve equipped the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery Service with surgical loupes. These special magnified glasses enhance precision in complex surgeries. With an integrated cameras, the team can improve care for our patients through learning after each surgery, and advance teaching of cardiothoracic surgery. Happy National Cow Appreciation Day! Research by World Animal Protection, demonstrated that brushing and/or stroking has a positive impact on the welfare of dairy cows. So we funded two rotating cow brushes at Boltons Park Farm. The brushes revolve automatically when a cow moves in, enabling them to groom their sides and back. RVC students also have the opportunity to evaluate the effects of the brushes on a cow's physical and mental wellbeing and milk production. #cowappreciationday #cows #dairycows #dairyfarm #happycows #farmanimals #animalwelfare

Thanks to generous funding from the William Lithgow Foundation, we've converted one of our equine anaesthesia recovery boxes.
The new design, has triangular blocks to reduce the space and remove corners, making it safer for smaller ponies and foals recovering from anaesthesia.
These improvements will help enhance the care and safety of all our equine patients at the RVC. Find out more about how we support the RVC’s hospitals at rvcact.com/WhatWeDo.

Marty was just ten weeks old when he started getting very ill. Within 24 hours he was in hospital with kidney and liver failure, and his owners were told he probably would not make it. The ultrasound machine, funded by the RVC Animal Care Trust, revealed that Marty was in acute kidney failure and Marty would need urgent dialysis. He had 3 rounds of dialysis and 2 blood transfusions and after 2 weeks in critical care, Marty began his recovery back to being a lively, cheeky Labrador puppy!
🌟Thank you to our superhero blood donors and our Animal Care Trust Supporters. Your support saves lives like Marty’s!
