I created Slumbering Hound when searching for dog beds and accessories for my Greyhound. I found that there were many gorgeous high end dog beds and blankets available, but out of my price range, or not so gorgeous alternatives in the lower price ranges. My aim with Slumbering Hound is to create bespoke, good quality dog beds and accessories that not only look good, are comfortable for your dog, a

nd compliment your home, but also at a mid range price that won't break the bank. All of the cushions and blankets are made to order and can be made in any colour available with applique details of your choice Other colour requests will require extra time for sourcing. [email protected]

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and it's just around the corner.

I've done my last trip to the post office, but my shop is open for the next four days for all of your gifts from Santa Paws.

Just a little reminder that the last date for orders for Christmas delivery will be December 10th.

This will give me enough time to make and pack and post your gifts and do my final run to the post office.

There is always a selection of pre-made items from me and my lovely suppliers in my shop, so do get in touch if you have any queries.

Collection from the shop is also available, and we'll be open from Thursday to Sunday until December 22nd.

I'm starting to feel quite christmassy.

Last night, we put up our tree in the new living room, began unravelling all the lights to go up in my new kitchen, and today I'm taking a day off to go christmas shopping in London with my family.

In all the upheaval this year, I'm so happy to be doing all of this in my newly renovated home.

As I sew, wrap, and post your orders, it's time for me to set a cut-off date for christmas orders. ✨️

Every year, I try to stretch it, but know that delivery is always delayed, and I know you want your orders in time for the big day. ✨️

This year, that cut-off date for posted orders in the UK is the 10th, and for collections, it's the 12th of December.✨️

My shop will be open every Thursday to Sunday for all of your gifts and treats until we close for Christmas at 3 pm Sunday 22nd December. I have lots of ready-made items waiting for you, made by me and lots of other lovely small UK businesses. ✨️

If you are unsure if I have what you are looking for in stock, please just give me a call. I always love to chat. ✨️

It may be , but to a small business, this is a big deal.

It's not necessarily the big, expensive items that keep small business afloat. It's those little things, bought often and randomly, that add up and keep us going.

As for me, I'm just as delighted when someone buys a card or a collar light or a single roll of poo bags as I am with a big order.

It's never just a card. It's a small business happy dance.

Our Story

Inspired by a 60mph couch potato!

My family are my inspiration. The four of us are my world. My husband, our beautiful daughter and our rescued Greyhound, Aston.

Looking around at different options for bedding for when Aston arrived 5 years ago, I realised that although there was a huge choice of dog beds and blankets etc on the market, varying considerably in price and quality, I would prefer to make my own for him. I had made a small collection earlier that same year to raise funds for a charity I volunteer for in Tanzania, and had received some great feedback. Then later that year I was approached to be part of a local 'Pop-up' shop on my high street and was encouraged by friends and family to create a brand of my own. I was so amazed at peoples response to my work and realised that Slumbering Hound had been born.

My background as a prop, puppet and costume maker in Film, TV and Theatre has given me the skills and confidence to pursue a passion and dream to run my own business. I pride myself on my attention to detail , customer service and providing my clients with exactly what they want for their hounds and homes. Every care is taken with each and every order and all items are lovingly handmade by me, for you.
