I created Slumbering Hound when searching for dog beds and accessories for my Greyhound. I found that there were many gorgeous high end dog beds and blankets available, but out of my price range, or not so gorgeous alternatives in the lower price ranges. My aim with Slumbering Hound is to create bespoke, good quality dog beds and accessories that not only look good, are comfortable for your dog, a

nd compliment your home, but also at a mid range price that won't break the bank. All of the cushions and blankets are made to order and can be made in any colour available with applique details of your choice Other colour requests will require extra time for sourcing. [email protected]

It's a very blustery, windy day, but that won't stop us.

My friend Margo has had an exciting weekend of it.

On Sunday 19th January, she appeared alongside on his show Love Your Weekend, showing off Scottish dog breeds for Burns Night.

She looked regal and elegant..... and didn't drag Alan into a ditch! Go to to see her strut her beautiful stuff.

She also competed in her first dog show of the year and was awarded Best in Breed. This is her third CC (Challenge Certificate), and it's an awesome achievement.

She will always be a champion in my book, but the title of champion is the highest award a dog can get, so well done, Margo, you did yourself proud.

I can't quite believe this, but my little shop turns 5 at the beginning of February!

How did that happen?

To help me start the celebrations, I'd like to invite all my regulars and locals to pose for a celebratory photo outside my shop.

I'd love you to be a part of it, so if you can make it, it'll be happening next Friday, 24th January, at 11am.

We'll have lots of treats, balloons, and cuddles for everyone, and I may even persuade Sue to be in it.....I hear her running for the hills as we speak!!

It's been one week since Ripley came to live with us, and we have fallen more in love with her every single day.

The primary guidelines for rescue dogs is to follow the 3-3-3 rule which basically says that it typically takes a newly adopted dog around 3 days to decompress from the transition to a new home, 3 weeks to start settling in and learning routines, and 3 months to fully feel comfortable and bond with their new family; essentially acting as a guideline for how long it might take a rescue dog to adjust to their new environment.

I feel that she is decompressing well and starting to come out of her shell a little and beginning to play. She's eaten well since she got here, but gobbling it down like it was going to be taken away, but that is slowing. She won't do a wee or a poo on a walk, and this was the same at her foster home, but has found her spots in the garden....and unfortunately twice on the living room floor!

She's starting to understand our rhythm and has been so good and quiet overnight. We are leaving her alone for very short periods during the day, so she knows we'll be back, and that unsettles her, so we need a few bits of advice on that one to help her.

She is a joy to have around, and we are loving the journey. I hope she is, too.

I was so happy to be asked to draw some bespoke illustrations for a few special Christmas gifts, and I'm delighted to be able to start sharing them with you here..

It's not often I draw dogs without their people, but when I do, it's just as special, and I can focus on a bit more of the detail. After all, it's all in the details. The client was extremely happy with the outcome, which is exactly why I love it so much.

Each illustration is hand drawn on quality, A3 acid-free paper using a combination of pastel pencils, pastel sticks, and high pigment colouring pencils. This one was also mounted and framed. I always prefer an A2 frame with a mount, as it gives the image space to breathe.

I'm already booking into March, so please get in touch if you would like to chat about a commission of your own.

I am so proud to introduce the new addition to the Slumbering Hound family. This is Ripley. She moved in with us on 8th January, and we are already very much in love with her. She's such a good girl. She is an 18 months old Greyhound and cared for by @kent_greyhound_rescue, where we got Aston from, and her fabulous foster family as Pixie Dust. Everything is very new to her, and there is so much to explore and take in, but she is a sweetheart and very loving, so I'm hoping she'll be happy in her new home. Our Story

Inspired by a 60mph couch potato!

My family are my inspiration. The four of us are my world. My husband, our beautiful daughter and our rescued Greyhound, Aston.

Looking around at different options for bedding for when Aston arrived 5 years ago, I realised that although there was a huge choice of dog beds and blankets etc on the market, varying considerably in price and quality, I would prefer to make my own for him. I had made a small collection earlier that same year to raise funds for a charity I volunteer for in Tanzania, and had received some great feedback. Then later that year I was approached to be part of a local 'Pop-up' shop on my high street and was encouraged by friends and family to create a brand of my own. I was so amazed at peoples response to my work and realised that Slumbering Hound had been born.

My background as a prop, puppet and costume maker in Film, TV and Theatre has given me the skills and confidence to pursue a passion and dream to run my own business. I pride myself on my attention to detail , customer service and providing my clients with exactly what they want for their hounds and homes. Every care is taken with each and every order and all items are lovingly handmade by me, for you.
