Shorter, slower walk in the shade for these guys this morning. Dhylis has been off for two weeks due to an abscess on her face and took full advantage of being back by marching into every puddle she could find.

Domino's Pet Services is 4 today!!!!
And somehow I am 44 today ..... 👎

This last year has been the toughest year ever. Not only losing our two beautiful labs, Gunner and Theo, but also my Mum and my Dad. I was there for each of them as they passed and I truly believe that if it wasn't for seeing your gorgeous dogs everyday that I wouldn't be standing. Somedays the grief is overwhelming but doggo therapy is the best.
Thank you to my lovely customers for bearing with me this year and being so understanding ###

Looking after the gorgeous Douglas and Murphy for a couple of nights. Got out early for a bit of fun in the woods before it got too hot.
Just to say, I'm not a stick thrower. I try to discourage pucking them up on my walks but some just won't listen lol.

My little rainbow chicken somehow got one of her back toes caught in her leg band. I tried, but not a job for one pair of hands so I called her breeder for advice. They were more than happy for me to take her to them .
So thank you to the lovely staff at Riverside Aviaries: Titchfield and thank to my customers for being ok about me running late this morning x

Dhylis was left at home today because of the heat. We felt it was safer given her age and being a brachycephalic mix of breeds.
This lot seemed to enjoy what little walk we had though. Even Winston wasn't his usual chaotic self!
I had no dogs needing me in the afternoon but if I had then they would've been swapped to house visits only.
Winds me up so much seeing people heading out with their dog and a ball thrower or standing around talking to their friends, in the sun with their poor dog just panting away. If I can manage to be careful with a group of dogs then why can't they? Absolute idiots!

Here's what happens here at Domino's Pet Services to ensure the safety and comfort of your lovely dogs in this heat.
All windows are down in the car (I honestly don't care what my hair looks like) and there are fans blowing into the back. I also have a thermometer clipped to the top crates to keep am eye on the temperature back there.
I make sure I travel with LOTS of water on board as well as towels to soak if needed. I'm careful where I go incase of any vehicle breakdowns. The only time the dog's paws touch the hot pavement is the couple of seconds it takes from their front doors and into the car...sometimes not at all if it's shaded.
At our destination, the car is always parked in the shade and on dirt or gravel. Walks are slower, shorter and also in the shade. I carry water with us on the walk and offer it to the dogs frequently. Once back to the car we chill out for the rest of the time, each with their own bowl of water.
We may not have had much exercise but the dogs are happy. They've been out of the house, been for a car ride, seen their mates, done their business and had a good sniff in the woods.

Was beginning to worry he was stuck!

Three labs, one springer and a Dhylis! We managed to avoid this mornings heavy showers and had a lovely walk.

I do enjoy Facebook memories even though sometimes they are bitter sweet. Apparently 15 years ago today, I got soaked after Domino escaped his field, crossed the river and went gallivanting through people's back gardens. Trashing some plant pots on the way. How did I get soaked? You guessed it. Gemma fell in the river trying to catch him 😂
