A‘cwtch’ (pronounced ‘kutch’, to rhyme with ‘butch’) is the Welsh word for a cuddle or hug, but it’s also so much more than that. Cwtch’s second meaning is a cubbyhole or cupboard; a small space in which to store things safely. Blend those two meanings and you get a better idea of what the word means: it’s the wrapping of your arms around someone to make them feel safe and special in the world. ‘Ci’ (pronounced ‘key’) is the Welsh word for Dog and together this makes Cwtch Ci.
I started Cwtch Ci in beautiful Pembrokeshire to help my own lovely dog Wookie the Cockapoo. I was shocked to find so many dog treats were made with derivatives, added fats, unknown meat species from abroad, fillers and glycerine. I just didn’t agree with feeding her such rubbish. I wanted to indulge Wookie with truly nutritious tasty food that would be kind to her sensitive stomach and so I began researching dog nutrition then making my own homemade dog treats. So began a year long journey to make the most nutritious AND delicious foods for Wookie. Friends and neighbour’s dogs were also really enjoying Wookie’s homemade treats so I decided to learn all about catering and the relevant animal welfare and nutrition legislation. I wanted to enable other dogs to have healthy nutritious and ethical treats. I am now excited to be able to share these very healthy special treats with your dogs.
