Hi Everyone, today we have a slightly different adoption from the rescue. This sweet little man was previously rehomed by us but sadly due to no fault of his own has found himself looking for a new home again. Because this little man has had so much upheaval in his life moving around we really want to make sure that whoever adopts him is prepared to care for him for the rest of his days.

The circumstances being what they are, this little mans current owner has agreed to rehome him with his current enclosure and a lot of his supplies to avoid disruption. If he is adopted with his enclosure, we will be waiving any adoption fee for him however there will be a cost associated with his enclosure and supplies of £70 which is an absolute steal for what’s included. We would love for him to be adopted with his enclosure to avoid stress to him however if you have a suitable enclosure of 120x60cm already then this would be considered.

A little about this gorgeous boy…He first arrived at the rescue in March 2023 as part of a big group surrender at 9 weeks old – making him around 16 months old. He’s always been on the shy side and prefers living life on his own terms without too much human interaction. That said, his current owner is able to perform health checks and clip his nails when necessary. He will happily go about his day digging in his sand and soil and making nests in lots of different areas of his enclosure – and of course running at top speed on his wheel. If you are looking for a lower maintenance hamster that you can create gorgeous set ups for without having to commit to daily free roams, this guy could be the hamster for you.

A little about his enclosure…this is a DIY wooden enclosure measuring 120x60x60cm with a hinged lid. The enclosure is in very good condition with the exception of a small area a previous occupant chewed in the back corner. The current owner has been covering this with a tile and this has prevented any further damage. There will be a custom-made large sand bath with the enclosure as well as a couple of DIY platforms that fit the cage well. In addition his enclosure will come with a silent wheel, MCH, 6 other hides, a cork log, 2 small branches and a small dig box. You would need some enrichment of your own like tunnels, branches, dig boxes as well as substrates and sprays however a large portion of the set up would be ready to go – It really is a great value set up.

We would love to find this guy a stable forever home where he can happily live out his days. If you think you could be the person to offer him this we would love to hear from you.

He's currently located in Wokingham – Berkshire.

Hi Everyone, a little update for you all. As of 01/02/24 we will be closing temporarily for new intakes and adoptions while we focus some time, energy and finances on the senior permanent residents in our care.

With Jinx and Odin turning two this week and Bert not far behind we have decided we need to make sure we manage our resources to be able to give them whatever they need in the coming months. As a small, self funded rescue we have to think carefully about the impact new intakes have on our vet fund and our ability to take time off from our day jobs for any vet visits. Our instagram will remain active with updates on the boys as we see them through old age and we will be sure to update you all once we reopen the rescue again in the near future.

If you have adopted a hamster from us and need assistance don't hesitate to reach out as we will always respond in these instances.

See you all soon!

This sweet little lady is Ettie, she arrived at the rescue back in August after being surrendered as part of an accidental litter. Her two sisters have found their forever homes but Ettie is still on the hunt for the perfect family to call her own.

Ettie is a girl on the go, she has a lot of energy and doesn't really stick to a particular routine at the moment. She often pops her head out her burrow when she can hear you in the room to see if you have some yummy snacks for her, and she's turned into a massive foodie!

Ettie is going to need a family who can dedicate quite a bit of time to her as she will benefit from daily free roam time. Ettie has a lot of energy and will require boredom breakers and puzzles in her enclosure to help keep her entertained.

Ettie will need an enclosure at least 100x50cm however larger would really benefit her. She loves to burrow so whilst we would accept a bar enclosure it will need to be adjusted with cardboard or grass mats around the sides to accommodate 10-12" of bedding for her to make her burrows. She will need a 28cm+ wheel and a large sand area as she loves to dig.

Ettie is exceptionally gentle and very curious, she will take treats from your hands and accept strokes. She does climb out the enclosure onto an arm however she's not so sure of climbing onto bare skin so long sleeves work best.

If you think you could be the home Ettie has been waiting for we would love to hear from you and we can go through the adoption process. we are based in Hook RG27 and can facilitate delivery within a reasonable distance.

Ettie will be rehomed with a settling in pack which contains 2 weeks of changeover food, a chew, hand feeding treats and some forage.

Female Syrian - approx 6 months

Our little darling Agatha has been patiently waiting for her forever home since she was surrendered to the rescue in August at around 11 weeks old - sadly we are yet to receive any suitable interest in her.

Agatha has taken a while to trust her foster mama, we suspect due to her rough start in life. She has however come a really long way and will now accept snacks from fingers and a let you give her a few strokes as payment.

We would love to find Agatha a suitable home where she can finally settle for the long haul. Agatha will need a cage at least 100x50cm, she is currently living in a mamble 100 and doing really well in there. She likes boredom breakers and will need plenty of enrichment and things to keep her stimulated.

If you think you could be the home Agatha is looking for please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process. Adoption criteria and fee will apply.

So our sweet little old man Jinx is now looking for his forever home.

Jinx arrived at the rescue just over two weeks ago. We aren't exactly sure on Jinx's age however he could be as old as two based on his previous owners estimations. Whilst we can't promise whoever adopts Jinx that they will have a long time with him, we can promise that every moment you do get he will bring you so much happiness.

This little man is the most loving little soul and even after just a couple of days of being at the rescue he was greeting me like we were old friends.

Despite Jinx being a senior hamster he's so energetic and loves running around at full speed. He's been getting free roam time a few times a week. He's been thriving in his busy set up and has become a master at making burrows! Jinx is completely hand tame and loves to come running over for a bit of fuss when he sees you outside his home.

Jinx will need a minimum 100x50cm enclosure, a 20cm wheel, 10"+ of safe bedding and plenty of enrichment to keep him entertained.

If you think you may be the new family Jinx deserves please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process. We are based in Hook - RG27 and can facilitate delivery with a reasonable distance. Adoption fee and criteria will apply.

Our 3 sweet Syrian girlies have made it through their pregnancy watch 🙏and are now officially on the lookout for their forever homes. Agatha, Dorothy and Ethel didn't have the easiest start being cohoused until 11 weeks old but we are pleased to say they are now doing well.

All 3 girls are coming on nicely with their taming, Agatha has been the slowest off the mark but even she will come to her foster mum for some nice snacks now. Dorothy and Ethel are quite confident around their foster mum but will still need a calm and patient owner who will take things slowly when it comes to progressing with handling.

Each little lady will be rehomed separately and will need a minimum 100x50cm enclosure, 28cm+ wheel, 10"+ safe bedding to burrow and lots of lovely enrichment to keep them entertained. These little ladies are still a little shy so sadly cannot go to a household with young children.

If you think you could be the family for Agatha, Dorothy or Ethel please reach out and we can go through the adoption process. Applicants must be able to travel to SN8 (Marlborough) for collection although we may be able to facilitate delivery within a small distance. Adoption criteria and fee will apply.

So we’ve had lots of movement at the rescue. In fantastic news, our gorgeous little Dougie who’s now Dougal and Zelda who’s now Mango went off to their forever homes.

We took in Roxy who’s a female Syrian just over two weeks ago, she’s such a sweetheart and had no trouble finding a new mama who wanted to adopt her, she’s been reserved and will go to her new home in September.

And in the best news ever, our sweet baby BamBam has been reserved too, he is due to go to his new home in a weeks time.

We’ve also had 4 new intakes, 3 sweet ginger and white female Syrians who were cohoused and are around 12 weeks old now, here are Agatha, Ethel and Dorothy. We also had surrendered an adorable little old man dwarf we’ve named Jinx and he’s an absolute little heart stealer.

None of our current rescues are quite ready for their new homes yet as they are still under their health quarantine/pregnancy watch stage however our 3 gorgeous girls will soon be ready to reserve.

It is my greatest pleasure to finally announce that our sweetest little guy, BamBam, if finally ready to find his forever home.

BamBam has been at the rescue for a very long time. He arrived with us 08/03 at just 3 weeks old and weighing a tiny 14g. He has had an uphill struggle with his health since he arrived and after many trips to the vet we are now so pleased to say he has been signed off as healthy and ready to find his new family. He’s now almost 5 months old and steadily weighs 24-25g. I am happy to discuss BamBams full medical history in detail with anyone who is considering to adopt him.

BamBam is a shy guy although once you gain his trust he will sit on your palm to eat his dinner. He prefers the safety and familiarity of his enclosure and doesn’t require time out free roaming but he loves a busy enclosure and it’s so entertaining watching him explore the fun setups you create for him. He’s also become quite the burrower so you should see some good tunnels from him too!

BamBam is looking for a special home with an owner that has experience with Roborovskis or less handleable dwarfs and would be confident enough to give him regular health checks. BamBam will require a minimum 100x50cm barless enclosure, a 20cm wheel, deep paper based bedding and a really cluttered cage. Most of all he needs an owner that is comfortable with a hamster that may have some additional needs through their life and can offer him ongoing support.

If you think you may be the family this special little lad deserves we would love to hear from you. We are based in Hook, Hampshire and are willing to travel a reasonable distance for delivery to the right home. Rehoming criteria will apply.

We have another gorgeous Syrian hamster to introduce to you all. This little lady is Zelda and she is Dougie's sister. Zelda is around 9 weeks old and looking for a loving forever home after being born from an accidental litter. She's currently being looked after by a lovely foster mum off site from the rescue.

Zelda was the smallest and most shy of the 3 babies but has started to make some amazing progress. She's more confident now with playing in her cage while people are around however she's going to need a calm environment and an owner that is willing to put the time and effort into helping her with her taming.

If you think you could be the family Zelda is looking for we would love to hear from you. Zelda will need a minimum 100x50cm enclosure, 28cm+ wheel and lots of enrichment. Rehoming criteria will apply.

Officially welcoming sweet little Dougie to the rescue.

Dougie is a long haired male Syrian born 4/5/23 (give or take a few days).

Dougie is still very young and learning that humans are ok. He runs away a lot when I appear but even in the 3 days since he arrived he’s become brave enough to reappear quite quickly to see what’s going on.

I am currently trying to teach Dougie that fingers are not food after a mishap on the second day he arrived which was completely my fault and resulted in my finger getting a nip. He has since then successfully taken treats from me nicely 🤞🏻it’s completely normal for a hamster so young to need to learn these things and I will be doing what I can to help him progress while he’s with us.

Dougie was born as part of an accidental litter from a hamster purchased from p@h. The owner of his mum reached out once the three babies reached adulthood and we were able to offer a spot to one of them. Dougie will be under health check watch for two weeks and all being well he will be available to adopt from 14th July. We will post more in the coming weeks about the home we think Dougie will need.

This stunning little man is Captain, he's been with the rescue for a little while patiently waiting for his loving forever home.

Cap was surrendered as part of a large group rescue where he was co-housed with other hamsters. He's shy because of this but has had a lot of love and attention while in foster care and is starting to come around to human contact and is now confident enough to eat from your hand. Cap is a bit of a night owl and so would prefer owners that are up late or wake early for a little interaction.

Cap is looking for someone who can offer him all the love he deserves after his tough start in life. He will require a cage at least 100x50cm, a 20cm+ wheel and lots of enrichment to keep him entertained. Note: Can be adopted with full size enclosure and wheel for additional cost if needed.

If you think you may be able to offer Captain the family he deserves we would love to hear from you and we can go through the adoption process.

We are based in Hook, Hampshire and can facilitate delivery within a reasonable distance. All our rescues are rehomed with a rehoming pack that includes 2 weeks of Getzoo food, hand feeding treats, a whimzee chew and some floral forage.

Today we have a very special rescue ready to find his forever family. Everyone please meet the adorable BamBam.

This charming little man is a 10 week old male Roborovski. BamBam arrived with us just over 6 weeks ago at only 3.5 weeks old. He was part of a large rescue where we, along with other rescues, recovered 14 robos from cohabiting. Poor BamBam was a state when we got him. His fur was very ruffled and he was petrified.

We have worked tirelessly with BamBam over the last 6 weeks. He has gained weight nicely & has gone from screaming at things moving in his home to being comfortable enough to let me feed him from my hand.

Please don't be mistaken, whoever adopts this gorgeous little boy has a long road ahead helping him continue on his road of socialisation. He must go to a home where his cage can be in a quiet area and his new owners would need to have experience with hamsters. He will require a lot of time and patience while he gets used to his new surroundings and your smell. On the plus side he does rise by around 8.30pm so spending time with him isn't too difficault.

BamBam needs a barless enclosure at least 100x50cm, a 20cm+ wheel and loads of hiding spots to help keep him feeling safe. Please get in touch if you think you can offer BamBam the home and love he needs.

We are based in Hook, Hampshire and can facilitate delivery within reason. Adoption criteria and fee will apply.

Just over two weeks ago we embarked on a Robo rescue, two of the initial rescue group stayed with us and after some R & R they are both now ready to find new loving homes.

Proudly introducing Elvis & Presley.

Elvis is approximately 10-11 weeks old. Elvis had sadly been bullied in his old home and did have a few superficial marks to his face when he arrived. We are pleased to say that with a little TLC he's completely healed and has flourished living a solo life. Elvis is exceptionally inquisitive and sociable for a Roborovski hamster. He's always poking his head out his house when he hears people in the room, wondering what they are up to and if they have any snacks for him. Like every Robo, Elvis is very fast but he is hand tame and fairly easy to handle for an experienced hand. Because of his speed Elvis would only be suitable as a companion for adults or older children.

Presley is approximately 5-6 months old. Presley is a very sweet natured boy and has come on leaps and bounds since arriving with us. Initially Presley would hide when we went in the room however he’s now quite happy to potter around while we are there and LOVES running on his wheel. Presley is a little unsure of hands however he will now sit on our hands to eat some food. We can hold Presley for a quick health check however he is still very jumpy with this and will need his new home to keep working on his taming with him. Due to his shy nature Presley will need a home that is quiet & calm where he can settle and feel safe.

Both boys are looking for solo homes that can offer them all the love, patience & attention they deserve after their tough start in life. Both will require a cage at least 100x50cm, a 20cm+ wheel and lots of enrichment to keep them entertained.

If you think you may be able to offer either boy the family they deserve please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process. We are based in Hook, Hampshire (RG27) and can facilitate delivery within a reasonable commute.

**Hamsters are a big commitment. Whilst they are small in size they are not easy or cheap to keep. Please ensure you have considered taking on a hamster carefully and can commit to supporting them financially and caring for their needs for the duration of their lifetime which is usually 2-3 years**

We have 3 gorgeous boys in the rescue all looking for their forever homes.

Momo is a gorgeous 5 month old russian dwarf with a giant attitude. He's come along way since he arrived but needs a confident owner who's happy with stroking instead of holds as he has a tendency to nip your fingers.

Baloo is also a 5 month old russian dwarf. His temperament is so sweet. He's always looking for attention and loves a little hold.

Moki is a long haired male syrian around 4 months old. He's still very shy and is looking for a calm environment and an owner that's willing to go at his pace. He wasn't handled for around a month before coming to us so needs to learn that humans are friends again, he's been doing great with this already.

If you think you can offer any of these lovely boys the loving forever home they deserve please get in touch and and we can go through the adoption process. Alternatively please feel free to complete our adoption form and specify which little man you are interested in. A small adoption donation will apply.

Location: Hook, Hampshire - delivery can be facilitated within a reasonable distance

In other rescue news, we have 3 new recruits in our ranks.

First up is Pippin / Pippi / Pip but most the time this little angel is called Sweet P. She's a beautiful Russian dwarf we were told was about 4 1/2 months old but her size and weight suggested she's much younger, we believe she's now coming up to 4 months old. We collected Pip on 10th June so she has been with the rescue 4 weeks today. She had been housed with another and they had been fighting so Pip needed a new place to stay. She was being advertised with a tiny plastic reptile box which was her 'cage'. Thankfully her owner was happy to surrender her to the rescue after I contacted them and we collected her that afternoon.

It became obvious very quickly that poor little Pip was terrified. She had a little scab on her eye which had mostly healed so we believe her and her cage mate had been fighting for a while, this quickly healed but the mental scars remained. Despite her obvious fear of us this sweet little soul has never once shown an ounce of aggression towards us. We have allowed Pip to do her own thing for the most part and gradually she's becoming more comfortable with humans being around, she's even (cautiously) eating her dinner from my hand now.

We will soon be looking for a very special forever home for Pippin.

This gorgeous little girlie is Mei. She’s a beautiful female Chinese hamster. Mei found herself at the rescue at a very young age when her first owner realised they couldn’t care for her adequately. She’s a fairly low maintenance hamster but has been very curious about what we are doing when we are doing things in or around her enclosure. She’s happy to take snacks from us and will sit in our hand to eat them. She’s not jumpy with being stroked and you can lift her for a little bit of attention. Mei is very small and very fast though so should only be handled by a confident hand. Mei is very much a night owl and is never out before 9.30pm so will need an owner that has time in the late evening to give her a bit of fuss.

Mei will need an enclosure that’s at least 100x50cm and a 28cm wheel. Mei loves a busy cage with lots of nooks and crannies to hide in, forage in, climb on and explore. A bar cage with platforms and perches will be a big plus for her. She’s also fantastic at burrowing so lots of deep bedding will be essential.

If you think you can offer Mei a wonderful home please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process.

We are based in Hook, Hampshire and can facilitate delivery within around 25 miles. If you would like to adopt Mei with a cage we may be able to facilitate this at an additional cost.

Our gorgeous little girlie, mad Mags, is done with her pregnancy watch and is officially looking for her new home 🐹

She's vibrant, tenacious, and full of wonder and excitement. She's an absolute joy to be around. Where Maggie is concerned it's always sass o'clock and we absolutely love her for it. If I had a spot she would be staying!

Maggie has learnt what it sounds like when the food jars are opened and comes running out her burrow every time to see what's on offer and to make sure we don't forget to give her a fair share. She's worked out which spot to sit in ready for when the lid comes off each morning and reaches up so you can lift her for a quick hold. She loves attention but given she's still a baby and learning about fingers and food we do think she will be best placed in a household with no young children wanting to interact with her. She's had a few play times but is still a bit wired by them so we are keeping them short at the moment but this is definitely something she is going to need in her permanent home as she has so much energy. She is going to need a home where her owners are prepared to put a lot of time and effort into keeping her entertained and happy, with free roam, plenty of holds and regular new additions to her home in terms of toys and boredom breakers.

Maggie is looking for a home that is at least 100x50cm, a 28cm wheel (she may need larger in the future as she is a superchunk) and loads of enrichment including toys, different substrates and forage mix/sprays. She's taken to burrowing like a duck to water so deep substrate is a must for her.

If you think you are the family for Maggie please get in touch, we are based in Hook, Hampshire and can facilitate delivery within around 25 miles.

This post is all about substrates. While we may think this is the boring part of setting up our hamsters home, its actually one of the most important, and can be pretty fun for your hamster too!

When housing your hamster in a cage at least 100x50cm you should have enough room to add a variety of substrates. We always suggest having a large section of deep, paper based bedding for your hamster to sleep in, along with a sand bath for their grooming needs but the rest of the enclosure can be full of fun!

Below are some of our favourite places to get additional substrates and dig box materials.

Please welcome our newest member of the gang, Maggie. This gorgeous little girl is only 9 weeks old and found herself at the rescue after just one week in her first home. Her owner was allowed to purchase two Syrian hamsters from Pets At Home and kept them in the same cage. Of course they quickly had a falling out. Thankfully Maggie wasn't physically injured and although I wasn't able to see her cage mate when I collected her I'm told they survived with a minor cut to their ear so lets be thankful it didn't turn out a lot worse for them both.

Maggie was very jumpy the first day, frantically scrambling around but she was in a bucket when I collected her, presumably the only secure container her owner had away from her cage mate, so this undoubtable left her a little stressed. She's since settled a lot and has been enjoying lots of sprays and boredom breakers...this girl loves her food! She is comfortable enough to be held but not having too much experience with hands we are still helping her learn that fingers aren't food!! She's already learning well though.

As Maggie had a cage mate, and was only recently bought home from P@H we are on high alert pregnancy watch with her. Although our bin cage isn't the correct size we felt this was the best spot for her until we are confident she's not due any babies at which point she will be moved to our Marrakesh cage and will be available for adoption at that point.

If you would like to register your interest in adopting Maggie once she's completed her pregnancy watch please get in touch. She will need a minimum 100x50cm cage, 28cm wheel and lots of enrichment.

The gorgeous little Oregano is looking for his forever family. So far Oregano has sadly been overlooked by potential adoptive parents, we think because he's not interested in human contact for the most part. Oregano is a very typical Robo, so much energy and very fast. We are able to pick him up for health checks but he prefers running around and enjoying lots of enrichment in his cage while you watch on from outside his enclosure. Due to his tiny size and fast speed Oregano will need to go to an adult household. As he is still young his new owners will need to continue spending time talking to him, offering him treats from their hand and getting him more familiar with human contact.

Oregano will need a minimum 100x50cm enclosure, a 20cm wheel (28cm will work too), a large sand area and plenty of enrichment to keep him entertained.

We are based in Hook, Hampshire and can facilitate delivery within around a 25 mile radius.

If you think you can offer Oregano a loving forever home please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process together.

31/03/2022

Our handsome man Zele is now ready to find his new family. He had a bit of a bad start in life and came to the rescue after being pulled from a breeder that used him for profit. He hadn’t been well cared for living in a small breeder tank with no access to a wheel and from what we gather was fed a diet that was not at all suitable for a hamster. He arrived with a very fat body and seemingly not much muscle, it took him a few days to work out the wheel but now he loves having a run. Zele was painfully weary of us when he arrived and whoever offers him a loving home will need to keep his past in mind. He’s a gentle giant and it’s been such a pleasure to witness him come out of his shell over the last few weeks. Although still a little jumpy with fast movement and loud noises he’s very curious of us and seems to want our attention on his terms. Zele can be held and will take treats from your hand if you approach him calmly. He's been free roaming each morning and seems to really love some time out of his cage to run around and explore, he's usually sat patiently waiting for me to lift him out each morning for his turn in the play pen which is very sweet!

Due to how nervous Zele can be he will need to go to an adult household, or a household with older children where a calm environment can be created for him. He will need a minimum of 100x50cm cage, 28cm wheel, sand bath and lots of enrichment to keep him entertained.

We are based in Hook, Hampshire and can facilitate delivery within around a 20 mile radius.

If you think you can offer Zele a loving forever home please get in touch and we can go through the adoption process together.
