Statement from Dapper Dogs
We are pleased to confirm that Hank have now been found safe.
On Thursday afternoon, one of the dogs in our care, Hank, managed to escape from our premises. Despite the safeguards in place, Hank was able to force his way out of the daycare area and exit through the main gate. Our team responded immediately to try and secure him and were actively involved in the search efforts every day.
Hank joined us with his friend Obi who is a regular in daycare, Obi continued his stay with us until Saturday.
We would like to clarify the following points in response to concerns raised:
• Our boarding license is publicly available via the FCC website (ref ABO 132).
• CCTV footage confirms the direction in which Hank left.
• Our team, alongside external volunteers, participated in the search from Thursday afternoon until Hank was found.
• The gate shown in circulated CCTV images is not the daycare gate but the grooming entrance, which remains open for clients.
• At no point did any member of staff make light of the situation.
• We have not and will not respond to abusive messages. These are being dealt with through the appropriate legal channels.
We fully recognise the seriousness of this incident. While Hank has now been safely located, this should not have happened. We are reviewing all safety measures and procedures to ensure every possible step is taken to prevent a recurrence.
We are deeply sorry for the distress caused. An incident like this is truly our worst nightmare. For any further questions, or to discuss future bookings, please contact Rebecca Davies directly.
