National Animal Welfare Trust Cornwall National Animal Welfare Trust rescue centre in Hayle, Cornwall, rehoming approx 300 animals per year

The National Animal Welfare Trust's centre in Cornwall came about as a result of the inspiring work of Molly Wyatt. Molly worked hard over many years to provide a rescue and rehoming service in Cornwall, and shortly before her death in 1996 she asked if NAWT would be willing to carry on her work. We agreed to and in 1997, we took over financial and organisational responsibility for the work in Cor

nwall. We rehome around 300 cats and dogs at our Hayle centre every year. Every animal has been individually assessed and cared for by our experienced and dedicated staff. All animals are vet-checked, neutered, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped before being rehomed. We also have a local charity shop in Hayle and can accept donations for the shops directly at the centre.

Introducing 💙Oscar💙

Hi there, my name is Oscar and I am looking for a new owner as my owner has sadly become too unwell to care for me.
I am a delightful boy, very gentle and easy to handle.
I walk well on my lead and very much enjoy going out and about. I travel well in the car....my preferred place is on the back seat behind the driver I have you know!
I am very friendly with everyone and I have been used to children visiting the home who I adore, especially if they give me lots of fuss!
I have lived with a cat and although I am fine with other dogs.....I don't take any notice of them out on my walks, but I am used to being the only dog in the home and like it that way as I all get all the attention.
Being a Shihtzu I need regular grooming, and currently go to the groomers every 10 weeks so my new owner will need to be prepared for that. I am also prone to ear infections and gunky eyes unfortunately, so I will need daily ear and eye cleaning to keep on top of that, but I am currently not on any medication and am looking really healthy and well, I am actually very handsome!
I am fully house trained and will be great company for someone, I just wouldn't like to be left alone for too long as I may bark a bit.
See you soon x Oscar x
Oscar is on our Home Direct Scheme, which he remains with his current owner until a suitable match can be found. All meets will be done here at the centre.

Introducing 💙Rex💙
Hello there, my name is Rex and I am a super little dog looking for his new home due to no fault of my own.
I am very sweet natured and gentle. I will make someone the best companion.
I am great to walk and although I haven't been off lead in my current home I think I would be very well behaved if I was allowed. I can be a bit barky when I see other dogs but I have been good as gold with the dogs that I have met and played with.
I really love human company but am happy to stay at home by myself too - I do love to be warm and cosy so you might find me under my blanket having a snooze!
I love travelling around in the car so we will be able to go off to all sorts of new places together. I would prefer a home with older teenagers if there are children as I don't particularly like the sound of babies crying and although I am a very happy little chap I don't enjoy being over fussed by little hands.
I would prefer to be the only dog in the home as that is what I am used to and no cats I'm afraid.
I have my own little routine, and its worth knowing that I like to do my poos out on my walks and not in my garden, so I will need to go out twice daily for that reason, and in the evening I like to have a bit of play time, especially tug of war.
If you think you and I can be great friends, let me know, love Rex x
