The Welfare Outreach and Advice team are the first point of contact for owners who are struggling. Their mission is to provide non-judgemental advice and to step in if they think an intervention is needed. The team’s priority is ensuring equines are properly cared for, but their work also involves supporting owners to make some very difficult choices.

Recently, the cost in living crisis has put significant pressure on horse owners to manage the growing expense of caring for their equine. As a result, we are also seeing an increase in the number of Sanctuary at Home ponies being returned to us. On top of this, there has also been an increase in large, complex rescues. The Welfare Outreach and Advice team have been called on to assist with some truly harrowing interventions in the past few months, many of which we cannot talk about at the moment.

It takes a lot of dedication to be one of the Welfare Outreach and Advice team, but Rebecca Sherrell, Welfare Outreach and Advice Manager, explains what keeps them going: “Coming away from a tough situation feeling like you’ve achieved something is amazing. I love the feeling that we’ve improved the lives of horses with our work.”

If anybody would like to adopt a chicken I can house them here at the yard the minimum donation to the chicken rescue is £3 per bird and a donation of a sack of chicken feed when they arrive would be brilliant. Regular Updates on the chooks will be posted from when they arrive and all adopters would be welcome to visit.

HENS URGENTLY NEEDING HOMES

We're getting worried now. Less than 2 weeks to go and we still need to find homes for 1000 hens.

These little ladies have worked hard laying eggs for 18 months. We have to find every one of them a home. You can see that they are a mix of white & gingers. When you collect on rehome day that’s what you’ll get - a mix of white & gingers. Lovely well looked after girls.

Please help if you can...even if its just a share of this post.

The rehoming date is the 9th July and we have collection points at the following locations:-

Bedford MK43
Biggin Hill BR2
Brockenhurst SO42
Brands Hatch DA4
Cowden TN8
Charlwood and Newdigate RH6
Dorset BH20
Hailsham BN27
Hastings TN35
Lancing BN15
Market Rasen LN8
North Hampshire
Northampton NN2
Pencader SA39
Waterlooville PO8
Wi******er SO21

so its that time of the year when my Queenie has to be in the stable during the day and on a dry paddock at night to prevent her having an outbreak of laminitis. but this year she has started to develop a touch of copd. so i have decided to try and create her a track system so that she can stay out during the day as much as possible. i managed to do x6 posts. ground is really hard. but its a start. anyone that would like to come and help i would be really gratefull
