BRGT - A day in the life
🐾 A Day in the Life at the Kennels🐾
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at our kennels? Our incredible staff and volunteers are non-stop, ensuring every dog is cared for with love and attention. Here’s a glimpse into a typical day:
🌅 Early Start: Our team arrives bright and early to get a head start before the kennels open for visits at 10:30am.
🐕 Morning Routine: Dogs, mostly paired in kennels, are let out into the yard or paddocks while their kennels are cleaned and fresh bedding is laid down.
🍽️ Feeding Time: Once the kennels are spotless, it’s breakfast time! Each dog is fed independently out in the yard, kennel by kennel. After their meal, it’s chill time for the hounds.
🧼 Yard Cleaning: While the dogs relax, the staff is hard at work hosing down and disinfecting the outdoor areas.
🚶♂️ Exercise & Play: Throughout the day, dogs are taken out for exercise, one kennel at a time, ensuring everyone gets their turn to stretch and play.
👩⚕️ Appointments & Admin: In between it all, visitors arrive for adoption appointments, and our kennel supervisor, Caz, tackles 2-3 teeth/nail appointments. Plus, there’s always admin tasks, phone calls, and preparing 'homing kits' for our soon-to-be-adopted hounds.
And then, it all starts again for the next day! 😅 Exhausting but rewarding work. We couldn’t do it without our amazing staff and volunteers.
