You may be aware that we've been selling our own Baseball Caps this year.
With stocks getting low, we decided to order another batch and have now added Beanie Hats to our range for the autumn/winter too.
One size fits all.
Each one costs £10.00 and are available for collection from the kennels, but please ring between 10:30am and 2:00pm to make an appointment first. The number is 07704 982140.

For those further away, it will also be possible to send them by post anywhere in the world for an extra charge.
They'll make Greyt Christmas presents too!!

Do we have any knitters in the group, or do you know someone that is?
Each of our kennel hounds are given a knitted or crochet blanket approximate 1 metre square when they first arrive at the kennels, which they have with them until they leave for their forever home when they take it with them for their new bed.
We have today received a large sack at the kennels full of balls of wool in various colours, and need people to turn it into blankets. There's no rush as we still have a stock, but it could be something you may like to do as the nights draw in.

Today we delivered over £200 worth of goodies obtained from Pets at Home and The Groom Room Burgess Hill.
All of the items cost us nothing, as they were obtained from vouchers we receive quarterly as a result of our supporters joining their pets Club, nominating us as their chosen charity, and using their local Pets at Home store to do their shopping for pet supplies.
As you can see, it really does make a difference to us, and is currently worth over £1,000 a year. It's free to join and costs you nothing extra, but we have a lot to gain.

You may have to choose Burgess Hill as your local store for us to show up, but once a member you can shop at any store. Despite the uncertainty of the weather it turned out OK and because of this we had 22 greyhounds and their slaves in attendance we collected £91.40

Today Sioux left the kennels with Maria and Ron who a lot of you will recognise from the kennels and events we attend. They sadly lost Bella last month and felt now was the right time to adopt again. Sioux joins fellow hound Pixie. We wish them all the best for their future together 🏡🐾❤️

A date for your diary. - It’s a long post!

Sunday the 29th September is the 5th Sunday of the month, which means it’s time for the Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust’s next group walk from the Greyhound Inn, Keymer Road, Hassocks, BN6 8QT.

This date is also the date set for the 2024 Great Global Greyhound Walk, so I have registered it as one of the world wide walks taking part. This walk is open to all Greyhounds, other sighthound breeds and any other breed that lives with a hound that’s taking part.

We will set off at the earlier time of 11:00am for our usual walk across the Sussex countryside, returning to the pub for refreshments in the garden around 1½ hours later.

Please do not use the pub car park as this will be need for their patrons when they open. Parking will be on local roads,

Each year the organizers choose a theme, and this year it’s FLAGS, so dress your hounds and/or yourselves accordingly. This is of course optional.

There is no charge for joining us, but I will have my collection tin with me, raising funds for the Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust.

The Great Global Greyhound Walk is an annual dog-walking event that brings together greyhounds, lurchers, other sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness of the breeds and show the public just what wonderful pets they make.

Last year’s event was another record breaking year!
11,818 sighthounds walked around the globe across 458 walks in 36 countries, including China, Falkland Islands, Finland, Greece, Mauritius, Poland and Hungary for the 1st time!

The annual event aims to raise awareness of greyhounds, and their sighthound cousins, as great pets. Originally started in the UK, it is now very much a global affair. Last year 458 walks took place, with more countries than ever before taking part. From London to Auckland, Perth to New York, Cape Town to Dublin, hound owners walked ‘together’ on Sunday 24th September.

Highest attendance for a walk was 503 in Yorkshire, England, closely followed by 308 in Burswood, Western Australia. What an amazing spectacle to see this amount of hounds together.
The Great Global Greyhound Walk 2024 will aim to have 12,000 hounds walking throughout the world!

We’re thrilled to introduce you to our September star, Bodhi! 🌟 This handsome 5-year-old boy has been lighting up our kennels since March, and now he’s looking for his forever home. 🏡

A couple of months ago we were asked if we could do Pevensey craft and dog show we attended today Sunday we had 9 greyhounds in attendance our stand was inundated with people and children the hounds were on their best behavior and as a result we collected £75.49 in donations I would like to thank everybody who came with their hounds mick

This month's draw of the BGOARGT 100 Plus Club was carried out yesterday morning using an online random number generator and the lucky winners are:

The support in this fundraising venture is appreciated by all concerned with the kennels, and if you have not joined already and would like to join for the remainder of our year (September 2024 to March 2025), entries are now being taken. Half of each entry goes straight to the kennels to help the hounds waiting for their forever homes, the remainder being added to the prize fund. The more entries there are the bigger the monthly prize values!
We know times are difficult for us all at the moment, but if you can afford to buy one or more entries it would really help with the costs of running the kennels.
Each entry purchased costs just £7 and stands a chance of winning one of the three prizes each month.
This group has over 5,000 followers, and if everybody bought just one entry, it would raise over £15,000.00 towards making our hounds comfortable.
