As from the 10th of June this year, cat microchipping will be mandatory, just like it is for dogs🐈

Microchipping is an invaluable tool to help you reunite with your furry friend in case something happens.

🐱 Your contact details are associated with the chip number and stored in a central database, making it easy for a vet practice to scan your pet and find you
🐱 The chip is the size of a grain of rice, and putting it under your pet’s skin won’t hurt more than a vaccine
🐱 You only need to update your details when changing phone numbers or addresses.

If you would like to know more, or if you would like to microchip your cat, do not hesitate to contact us on 01444 440224 or drop us a message via PetsApp.

If you are signed up to our Pet Care Plan microchipping is included - https://oathall-vets.co.uk/our-pet-care-plan/

We love to hear how our adopted beehive is doing and thrilled to receive the following update from SW Honey Farms 🐝

"I have recently finished your hives first inspection of the season and the update is below for you.

As the winter has been so wet and miserable, the chance to go into the beehives this year has been very late. It has been a challenge to get through them all in time before they decide to up and swarm on me but I managed it and mostly the bees did well through the winter as a whole. Your hive actually had a surprise when I inspected it, 2 queens in the same hive! This is called a supersedure and happens when the original queen is coming to the end of her life and her daughter takes over the hive. The original queen will stay in the hive up until the daughter is mature enough to sustain the hive and will peacefully fly away from the hive to pass. An Image has been attached below for you to meet your new queen. Your new queen has been marked with a red dot to signify her age! This spring has been one of the worst springs for me so far as the rain is still limiting the bees' flight to collect nectar and has resulted in me actually having to feed a few smaller colonies. I hope this is all in aid of a fruitful summer!

At the beginning of last season we decided to look more into using hives for pollination to further their impact on the environment. This involves reaching out to farmers who grown crops such as oil seed r**e, field bean, borage and soft fruits. Your hive was selected to be a part of this pollination and subsequently helped the farmers achieve higher yields then if they didn't have the bees on this crop. Your hive was used to aid in the pollination of oil seed r**e and proved to be such a valuable asset that the farmer has contacted me again this year for more pollination! Your hive also helped in creating another colony of bees! Just like in your last end of adoption email, your hive was split with a new queen added and is now a working colony this year and pollinating even more flowers"
