💛Thanks to your incredible support, our sanctuary in Israel now echoes with the joyous brays of 170 rescued donkeys and foals. Each bray is a melody of thanks, a testament to the second chances they've received because of YOUR support 👏
The moments when a donkey lies on the ground and plays are more than just physical movements; they are a unique blend of joy and emotional release. Rolling on the ground is not merely a way to scratch the skin or get rid of parasites – it is also a way to feel the freedom of life and let go of all burdens.
For this donkey, rolling on the ground is not merely a way to scratch her skin or rid herself of parasites – it is her way of feeling the freedom she deserves and letting go of the burdens she once carried.
Builder donkeys
😭Such a sad sight seeing these builder donkeys carrying such heavy loads in the scorching heat at building sites across the West Bank. Sadly many suffer painful wounds & some collapse from exhaustion. Donkeys Deserve Better. Please support our charity's vital work helping donkeys🚑
Alison
Welcome to the sanctuary Alison! At the weekend, our team in Israel were called out to rescue a stray donkey found at the Tarqumiya border crossing. The border guards very kindly helped to get the donkey into the horsebox and she was then taken to our sanctuary, where she will have a home for life. We rely on donations from the public to be able to rescue and care for donkeys like Alison - if you can, please donate now - thank you.
📢👂For most of us, this is our first working day of 2025 so our donkeys just wanted to send you a little message to say that they hope you have a wonderful year. Volume UP 📹👆
💚 Happy New Year to all our wonderful supporters all over the world 🧡
Is your New Year's resolution to take more exercise? We think that these donkeys at our rescue centre in the West Bank have decided the same!
Headcollar fun
Every sanctuary has its own rules, but at our sanctuary, there’s one golden rule: if you have a headcollar, expect some unexpected visitors trying to “liberate” you from it.
It turns out donkeys have a rather unique sense of humour. They often put a lot of effort into “stealing” their friend’s headcollar. They grab it with their teeth, tug at it, and seem to thoroughly enjoy watching what happens next. Sometimes, the “victim” surrenders peacefully, and other times it turns into a battle. In the end, though, the headcollar always loses😂
For our team, the outcome is clear: a significant number of new headcollars are needed every month. As we sew, repair, and piece them back together, there’s no shortage of work. But honestly? We’re not really complaining. Because when you see a donkey standing proudly in the middle of the pasture after “winning” a headcollars battle, you realize it was totally worth it.
After all, we’re here to make sure the donkeys are happy. And if that means indulging their headcollars-pulling games, we’re all in.
So, next time you visit and see a donkey without a headcollar, you’ll know: they probably “lost” the last round. And their friends? They’re just waiting for the next chance to play!
Here are just some of the 30 donkeys living at our rescue centre in the West Bank village of Arrana. Thanks to your support, they have a safe and secure home with plenty of room, good care and even a treat of tasty grass. Thank you for your kindness!
