π’πFor most of us, this is our first working day of 2025 so our donkeys just wanted to send you a little message to say that they hope you have a wonderful year. Volume UP πΉπ
π Happy New Year to all our wonderful supporters all over the world π§‘
Is your New Year's resolution to take more exercise? We think that these donkeys at our rescue centre in the West Bank have decided the same!
Headcollar fun
Every sanctuary has its own rules, but at our sanctuary, thereβs one golden rule: if you have a headcollar, expect some unexpected visitors trying to βliberateβ you from it.
It turns out donkeys have a rather unique sense of humour. They often put a lot of effort into βstealingβ their friendβs headcollar. They grab it with their teeth, tug at it, and seem to thoroughly enjoy watching what happens next. Sometimes, the βvictimβ surrenders peacefully, and other times it turns into a battle. In the end, though, the headcollar always losesπ
For our team, the outcome is clear: a significant number of new headcollars are needed every month. As we sew, repair, and piece them back together, thereβs no shortage of work. But honestly? Weβre not really complaining. Because when you see a donkey standing proudly in the middle of the pasture after βwinningβ a headcollars battle, you realize it was totally worth it.
After all, weβre here to make sure the donkeys are happy. And if that means indulging their headcollars-pulling games, weβre all in.
So, next time you visit and see a donkey without a headcollar, youβll know: they probably βlostβ the last round. And their friends? Theyβre just waiting for the next chance to play!
Here are just some of the 30 donkeys living at our rescue centre in the West Bank village of Arrana. Thanks to your support, they have a safe and secure home with plenty of room, good care and even a treat of tasty grass. Thank you for your kindness!
