Little Pigs is a small, home from home guinea pig boarding service based in Heanor, Derbyshire, UK. We also offer grooming treatments for guinea pigs too.

Oreo and Ninja boarded with us for a long weekend. They were our youngest boarders so far and are both under 1 years old 🥰 We loved having them stay with us and they enjoyed lots of veggies and pea flakes and both had massages during their stay! 💆‍♀️🐷

Someone has made themselves at home quickly!🤣 Bramble and Sage arrived just a few hours ago and are staying with us for just over a week. Bramble has already began her chilled out holiday in the Tomato Suite after munching her way through nearly a whole bowl of nuggets already🤣🍅😎

We have 3 year old boar Bob staying with us for the next couple of weeks while his owners are away on holiday, he’s settling in really well in the Lettuce Suite 🥬 He’s such a lovely pig, very inquisitive and boy does he love pea flakes! 🤣

Today we have had four lovely girls in for nail trims, Daisy, Oreo, Rosie and Twilight ☺️ Daisy also had a haircut as she was well overdue! Here she is before and after ✂️ She looks much better and is feeling much more comfortable now with the weather hotting up! ☀️

These two lovely girls Bluebell and Troy are staying with us for the long weekend ♥️ They’ve had their nails trimmed today as the owner requested this during their stay. They’ve already made themselves right at home in the Lettuce Suite😊

We’ve been working incredibly hard this week and the Little Piggery has had its finishing touches so is now fully ready 👏👏
(I’m a perfectionist and it wasnt completely ready by our open day in my opinion 🤣)

Remembering those piggies who are no longer with us on this bright spring day ♥️ We lost these two beautiful boys within 6 weeks of each other, it was really sad as they were still very young but they had developed health problems we just couldn’t fix 😢 We miss them everyday and it’s now been nearly 3 years since they both passed. We wanted to do something when we set up the piggery to remember them, and so we created a little memorial section just for them. Our little angel pigs 🐷

It’s National Vitamin C Day! 🥕🫑🥦🥬

Did you know that guinea pigs cannot make their own Vitamin C, and rely solely on it being in their diet to get sufficient amounts in order to stay healthy. Interestingly, pretty much all other animals can actually make their own vitamin C in their bodies, but both guinea pigs and us humans can’t!

What happens if my guinea pig doesn’t get enough Vitamin C?
- Signs of deficiency include a poor, dull looking coat, ulcers on their skin, diarrhoea, tooth problems, or swollen feet and joints and hesitation to move around alot due to joint pain.

The general name for guinea pig vitamin C deficiency is ‘scurvy’.

Veggies high in vitamin C include kale, parsley, spinach, salad peppers and broccoli - So make sure your piggies are getting at least a few of these a couple of times a week to keep them happy and healthy 😊

It’s been a spa day today for our resident piggies, and have you ever seen something so cute as a piggy in the bath! 🥰
Neville has had a haircut ready for the warmer weather we are all hoping for soon ☀️😁

We have a birthday pig today🥳 Our resident piggy Neville is 5!! We got Neville when he was just 6 weeks old - Look how adorable he was as a baby pig🥰 He is not the most confident of piggies and is quite a rare breed, most have never heard of a 'Minipli'. He is a follower and will only do something if Rupert does it first, a true herd pig. But when on his own for cuddle time he can be very affectionate when he feels like it and even gives kisses and licks to show he loves me (at least that's what I take it to mean!🤣) Here he is today enjoying his special veggie bowl, Happy Birthday Nev!

We are now taking bookings for our new venture - Guinea pig boarding and grooming, cutely named ‘Little Pigs’!! 🐷🥕🥒🫑

If you have a holiday planned, and are yet to sort care for your piggies whilst you’re away, then we may have the solution for you!

Our Little Piggery can comfortably accommodate your piggies, providing everything they could possibly need during their stay (cages, bedding, hidies, unlimited hay, veggies and enrichment are all provided) and your piggies will receive the best possible care just like a home from home! 🏡

Our business is family run from our own home and our Little Piggery is fully indoors meaning your piggies will be nice and cosy for their stay. We also provide daily updates, photos and videos of your piggies, for your peace of mind during their stay.

As a sideline we are also able to provide a grooming service, in our ‘Little Pigs Parlour’ - Where we can offer baths, hair trims and brushes for those long haired piggies, nail trims, and massages (perfect for those hairless piggies!), all using piggy safe products from Gorgeous Guineas. And our two piggies personal favourite ‘Little Pigs spa day’ which includes all of above plus veggies and snacks in-between treatments, all for one set price.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of having these 3 beautiful girls in for haircuts, massages and baths. Milky, Cassie and IO all needed a good pamper and tidy up ready for summer and here are the before and afters! We really enjoyed having them and are really impressed with the final results - 3 happy and more comfortable piggies now ♥️ They all look so much better 👏😊 Thank you @floofyflumpypiggies for trusting us with the trio!

Here’s a peek of our Little Pigs Parlour 🐷✂️ The set up consists of the grooming table which is actually a baby changing unit - But it works! And keeps your piggies super comfy whilst having their grooming treatments 🥰 It’s all ready for your piggies to come and enjoy their Spa Days with us! 🫧 We’re really happy with how this has turned out and it fits right in to our boarding area nicely 😁
