The one who started it all as a 15th birthday present. We had forged a deep bond from when he was a nappy 5 yr old through till he trusted me enough when I was 18 to be fifth at Badminton in 1972. A year later - exactly 50 years ago- he won.

It was a pleasure to meet Alan Rowe MBE of The Baton and get the chance to hold one of the Batons, (made from a handle from an original MERT stretcher used to extract injured personnel in front line operations). Their mission is to ensure that the sacrifice of those who serve is never forgotten, and to support those in need. www.thebaton.co.uk

Wonderful Christmas news from the Veterans' Foundation! We're delighted to have been awarded funding from Veterans' Foundation to aid our work.

Alongside our existing veterans' courses, this also includes specific funding for a new Spouses' course, recognising the need for mental wellbeing support for the wives, husbands and partners of veterans affected by trauma.

If you don't already know, the Veterans' Foundation raises these much needed funds for serving and former members of the Armed Forces through their Veterans' Lottery. Please do consider joining the lottery if you would like to support their work. And who knows, you might just win their monthly £50,000 jackpot!

Excited it's nearly Christmas?! It can however be a tricky time of mixed emotions. Those of you who have done our courses will know all about setting boundaries! Make sure you have plans in place to protect your own needs and headspace.

For some it's a wonderful chance to celebrate with family and friends. But for others, that may not be so. Difficult relationships, loss, geography or work can mean it's just not possible. Some of us enjoy the warmth and comfort of get togethers with friends and loved ones. For others, the pressure of social gatherings can feel rather overwhelming. But whatever you're doing this Christmas, the Warrior Equine team would like to wish you all good health, peace and happiness. 🎄🕊

PS It's a good time to remember your buddy checks, especially if someone you know has gone a bit quiet. A couple of the lovely wild ponies this weekend on the handling the untouched course- all burrs and dreadlocks!! By day 2 he was dreadlock free and happy as a clam!

Great first day at Catterick on our 3-day course for Armed Forces serving personnel. Our first time at Catterick Saddle Club, and what fabulous horses, facilities and friendly staff. A great team effort in collaboration with Phoenix House PRC.
