I got my first cat, an Oriental called Oedipus, in 1992 while living in Sweden. When I returned to the UK, he came with me despite having to spend 6 months in quarantine. From that point on, I have never been without a cat. Elektra, a seal point Siamese became Oedi's companion in 1995 and she was followed in 2010 by my current cat, Ziggy, a handsome half-Siamese tuxedo. He has all the Siamese character and personality but his tom-cat father's voice and colouring. Having Oriental / Siamese - even half-breeds - is both entertaining and challenging and they make looking after less highly-strung cats seem like child's play!! Since having cats of my own (and a collie for the last 14 years), I have looked after friends' cats, both pedigree and moggy. For the past three years I regularly looked after a mother and daughter pair, both of whom required medication twice daily, something the mother was not keen on without a lot of patient coaxing and bribery. Sadly both went over the rainbow bridge within months of each other. Cuddles, belly rubs and long sessions with Da Bird are a speciality! I am a self-employed artisan jeweller so have plenty of time to spend with your cats ensuring that they are well looked after and have lots of fuss, cuddles and play time.
